Brake Controller for a Honda GoldWing Towing a Trailer with Electric Brakes

Question:
Can you please tell me if the Tekonsha Voyager controller will apply the trailer brakes proportionally to the towing vehicle, or if not, at a pre set level, when the trailer and vehicle are travelling backwards. This is a critical enquiry, as I will be using electric brakes on a camper trailer being towed by a Honda Gold Wing motor cycle. If I have to stop on a steep hill, I need the trailer to brake as well as the motorcycle, or the weight of the trailer could cause the unit to slide backwards due to only the front brake being effective, which could cause the bike to topple. This has happened to a friend of mine, towing a trailer with no brakes. If this unit will not do, could please suggest a compact alternative, as size is at a premium .

The Tekonsha Voyager brake controller # 39510 probably will not be the best option for you since it does not work proportionally in reverse. It may hold when stopped on a hill but going backwards, should that happen, it would not brake proportionally. This is because it uses a pendulum inside to sense deceleration.
What you would need is the P2 # 90885 which will work proportionally in reverse and it will hold the trailer brakes when stopped. This controller measures approximately 5-1/4 inches front to back and about 3-1/2 inches side to side at the widest point.
