Hi, I'm Matt with etrailer. Today we're gonna talk about Thule's Lock Cylinder and Key Kit. So there's two main reasons to check this kit out and the first one is if you have a couple other Thule accessories, they got some lock cores in 'em, but you wanna get everything keyed alike, this is a great way to do that. Or you just got a roof rack like I have right here and you got these plastic cores in here. You wanna get these replaced so there's gonna be more secure and naturally it locks into place. That's the other reason.
I'll show you how to replace them and put 'em in though. Now another reason to check this kit out is if either your key or your lock core gets damaged, you can get it all replaced. Now the way it's gonna work for replacing, if you already have an existing lock core in place, is by unlocking it. Now you are gonna need the key for that. If you don't have the key, you can do it one of two ways.
You can go onto our website, and if you have the numbers on the outside of that lock core, then you can find the right key for it. If you don't like we don't here, if you wrote it down somewhere, typically a lot of times your manual will have it somewhere. If that's still not an option, you can also check out a Thule dealer and then they can help you get this off and replaced. And then from here, we're just gonna grab a master key. If you don't have 'em with these, we also have 'em on our website.
Just goes right into place. And this is gonna allow us to push out this old lock core, just like that. And now we can put the new one in. And really that's gonna be the reverse process where when you go to put this in, you do need to make sure you have that master key. 'Cause this retracts those allowances and put it there.
And then we can lock it and make sure it works. And if you've got the plastic cores on here, it's even easier. All you gotta do is push that out. Make sure you have a master key. And there we have it and lock it into place. And you are gonna have that key's code right underneath the handle section. Might be kind of hard to see here. I would strongly recommend writing this down somewhere, or as you're saving it somewhere so you can reference that again, just in case you do need to replace those keys or you need to get a new one along the way. Now, in my opinion, I think this is gonna be great if you just want a little bit more security on just one section, or just a part of your bike rack or whatever you have. This is gonna be a great set for you. Now of course, if you guys have any other questions, let us know here at etrailer. And again, I'm Matt, and thanks for watching.
