Today we're going to take a quick look at the DeeZee tailgate assist custom tailgate lowering system for your pickup trucks.This is going to attach to your pickup truck's tailgate. It's going to allow it to lower at a much more gradual pace, so you're not going to have to worry about it slamming down against your bumper, potentially hitting you or others around or causing any sort of damage to your tailgate or anything like that. It does have a shock absorber in it, so that it's going to just make that tailgate lower much more gradually and smoothly.It has been extensively tested to make sure that it's going to hold up well. We know how often your tailgate gets used when you're using a pickup truck, so they wanted to make sure that this would stand up to all that rigor.
It is custom fit for your 2019 and newer Ford Ranger pickup trucks. The brackets here are going to be a custom fit to ensure that it's very easy to get them installed. They do include the instructions which take you step by step, how to get this all installed, but it's very easy to do. Basically just backing out some of the bolts that are currently on your tailgate and replacing them with these. When you get up to your truck bed, it will require you to reuse one of the bolts that's there.
But overall very easy to do.They give you the instructions, so it's definitely something I think you could probably handle within about a half hour or so. It's not going to take you much time at all. You're not going to have to drill any new holes or anything. It's going to use all of the holes that are already in your truck bed.This does come with a three year limited warranty from DeeZee. It's nice to know that they stand behind their products, and overall I just think this is going to be a great option for those of you who are worried about your tailgate falling open, maybe hitting grandkids or shopping cards or anything that you're accustomed to being around when you're lowering that tailgate.
I think it's going to be a great option to increase the safety for you. You really only need the one. It's going to hold the whole weight of the tailgate as it lowers. This is for the driver's side, so you will be installing it there on the driver's side. But you only need the one that will do it for you.That's going to complete our look at the DeeZee tailgate assist.

Stated truck info on website 95 Chevrolet Cheyenne. Part was shown that would fit order was placed. Received part was for a Ford ranger? Called tech support and was told that there wasn’t a tailgate assist for a 95 Chevrolet Cheyenne?? And the part cannot be returned due to your policy. I have purchased many items over the years from DeeZee but that stops today

Bought a new Ford Ranger in June of 2019. Ford had not yet made the part for my tailgate available at it's dealers out here in Hawaii. Ordered this item from etrailer.com, they did not have the part yet either, but they stayed in touch with me for 3 months...GREAT follow up!!!

Easy to install and works great.
Installation was easy and instructions were clear and simple to understand. Product seems to be of good quality and came complete.
Does a great job! Keeps the tailgate from slamming down. I did have a small problem in cold-weather that it was making noise, but the manufacture agreed to take care of that. Any product you buy could have a problem, but what makes a good company is they stand behind their product.
2020 Ford Ranger. Tailgate damper works as described. Instructions not completely accurate or detailed, but the damper is a simple install. Tailgate uses a T50 bolt head and takes some torque to remove, but follow the instructions of removing only one at a time and replace with the provided hex head screws. The truck bed bolt (the one reused) required a T45 bit (not the T50 in the instructions). The install of the upper damper bracket again was simple but the instructions did not state where the original flat washer was to be re-installed or not. I put it on the outside of the bracket. Popped the damper on the attachment point. Done.

It’s been a year since I installed the DeeZee tailgate assist. No issues, works great !!! People who have seen it work are amazed at how well it performs. A must for your trucks tailgate.
