Jeff: Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at the replacement side plates for the Demco Hijacker under bed mount fifth wheel trailer hitch. It has a 21,000 pound weight capacity. Now, this will replace the side plates on your 21K Demco Hijacker under bed fifth wheel trailer hitch. That hitch part number is DM8550032, and we do sell that separately on our website.This part here will include the two side plates with the spring-loaded handles, the two center braces, and all the hardware you need.

Now, for this video, we've put it all together just to show you what it looks like. It does require the Demco saddle bracket, part number DM5990. That'll bolt right in here, and then the Demco hitch head assembly that would mount onto that saddle bracket, part number DM6076. With those two other items are assembled with this, it'll get you a complete fifth wheel hitch.Now, this does attach to your trucks under bed rail system, and it serves as a base for your fifth wheel hitch. The side plates themselves have two functions.

They contain the feet that fit into the receivers in your truck bed. They'll also allow you to raise or lower the hitch head to better match your pin box height. These parts are constructed of sturdy steel. They do resist corrosion with the black powder coat finish, and they are made in the USA.What I wanted to show you, we're going to zoom in on the feet here what I was talking about. These pins right here, there's one on each corner.

These will insert into the tabs or the receivers in your truck bed. So what you'll do is pull off this pin and clip. Then you just grab this handle, and you rotate it 180 degrees. It opens up the tab down here. You'll do the same here, and then the same on each corner over there.Once they drop into the receivers, then you just rotate these back, and it'll lock them into place.

Then you put your pin and clip back through here to hold that handle, so it doesn't open up. Again, you do that on each corner. That's how you would install it. To remove it, you just do the reverse of that.
