Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the replacement bottom spar hanger for the Thule backbone expansion accessory. Now, this replacement bottom spar hanger is for attaching the bike trays to the backbone assembly on your Thule T2 platform bike carrier. This is designed to fit the Thule two-bike backbone expansion accessory, and that does require two bottom spar hangers and two top spar hangers. This is just for a quantity of one bottom hanger.
Now, also available, we do sell is the top spar hanger and that's the part number 853595202, which we do sell separately. This part is an exact factory replacement. How to install this The hardware is not included. We do sell that separately on our website. But that should do it for the review on the replacement bottom spar hangar for the Thule backbone expansion accessory.

I have broken 3 of these hangers at the same location each time which is at the lower bend of the bracket. The material is overstressed due to the bend and over time a crack develops at the bend and eventually fails. The problem is there is no better replacement so I have to purchase additional spare units to cover the failures.
I was replacing a bent bracket. This bracket and 4 bolts repaired my bike rack.
Because I have an older T2 classic rack the top spar bracket was not long enough to meet the bottom spar bracket. I really only needed the bottom so I ended up using the original spar top with the new spar bottom. After E-trailer checked with Thule it was decided that was the only solution, which is fine

I have (unfortunately) had to order replacement parts for my Thule bike rack multiple times. Luckily, etrailer.com has had exactly what I needed each time. Ordering & delivery is consistently swift. Exact replacement part for a Thule bike rack that is at least 12 years old. Didn't think I would be able to find it but these guys had it!
This bracket is what I expected with no noted flaws. The only thing that I could not find was the attaching hardware. The reason I needed that bracket is that another person backed into the bicycle rack and bent the bracket. In doing so they also bent the screws that held the bracket and I had no luck finding the screws in the catalog. It would have been very helpful if the attaching hardware was listed with the bracket. Thank you for the product and your time.
