Secure, Interlocking Two-Piece Jaw

A16 Two-Piece Interlocking Jaw

Unlike slide-bar models, the rounded, interlocking, two-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Three-Point Indicator System

A16 Color Indicator System

Get peace of mind with Curt's color-coded lock indicator. Just look at the indicator - either the one on the handle or the one on the hitch itself - to determine whether the jaw is in the correct position to uncouple (red), couple (yellow) or tow (green).

Curt rebranded this fifth-wheel trailer hitch by changing its name from Q16 to A16 in 2016. All features and specifications remained the same.

Nice well made with thick material. Time would tell how sturdy it is. Easy to install, clear instructions with everything you need for it. (Nuts and bolts).
This is my second mounting kit that I get for my trucks.

High quality, heavy duty system. Bolted right in and instructions were easy to follow. I feel good about pulling our camper with this set up. Only issue was shipping, the box was damaged and was missing the pins that were ordered. But customer service quickly got thing fixed and resent.

I purchased both the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs - C16120, and Reese Pull Pin Lock Plates for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - Qty 4 - RP58093 for my F350 SD 4X4 Crew Cab Long Bed. I'm pulling a 30' Retro 5th. Wheel and at times I pull my tandem axle UTV Trailer (Double Trailers) . I already had the rails installed in my truck, this fit right in and I used the new Pins and Lock Plates for securing to truck. I have pulled all over from South Dakota and the Northwest. The Hitch has performed Flawlessly. No bucking, nor clunking. Very quiet and smooth ride. I would recommend this set up to anyone for convenience of Hook up and Disconnect, Excellent towing, quiet, and the security of the lock pins. I use Disc locks to prevent access for bolt cutters.

by: Chad Sanders02/16/2017

I was fully expecting a hitch in excess of 100 pounds to show up in a destroyed box. This did not. They had taken the Time and effort to cover the box with an additional layer of cardboard and it must have had a million staples in it. It was almost comical, you will need a crowbar or large screwdriver to get it open. However, when I did finally get the package open I found a perfectly un scratched hitch with no missing parts. I have not pulled with the hitch yet but , it does look like it is going to perform great. I'm using this in a 2006 ram 2500 4x4 short bed pulling a 2015 forest river Salem and it allows 91 degrees of turning due to the clipped corners on the front cap of the trailer. I will be curious to see how long the rubber isolators last before needing replaced and if they are readily available. Also the curt sticker on the hitch was peeling off when I took it out of the box, would be nice to get that replaced.

by: Jacob06/29/2022

Upon delivery the box was a little banged up. Everything was inside was still in good condition. To my time with install to insure proper alignment, the only thing I can say negative about it is, you need 4 additional 3/4 inch washers for the frame bracket bolts that are not included, at least I did! On both sides. In the end it was a rather easy success.

2004 Chevrolet Silverado

2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD, installed the Custom 5th Wheel Installation kit along with the Q16 Slider Hitch. Product arrived very quickly after ordering. It was shipped in 3 different boxes. One box was a little beat up during shipping, but all of the parts were there and undamaged. I watched the installation video once, then my brother-in-law and I tackled the job which took us about 2 hours. This was not difficult to install other than trying to get the 1/2" bolt through the hole on the driver side of the frame (the frame is boxed there). The included wire guide helped, but you still have to manipulate the bolt into the right position in a very tight spot. Everything turned out to be a perfect fit, no modifications needed. Also, I removed both rear wheels before starting which gave us plenty of working room. I have purchased from etrailer in the past and will continue to use them in the future.

by: Keagan09/11/2022

This kit is perfect! Comes with everything you need with easy to install instructions. I’d recommend this and other etrailer products. They match all factory specs. Simple and easy

This system worked perfectly, and was very easy to install.

by: Keith L.09/02/2019

Purchased this hitch, install kit, and wiring harness for a new to me 2015 F-250. After watching the installation video and reviewing the included instructions the install went smoothly. The only deviation from the instructions was instead of using a unibit to drill the 9/16" holes in the bed I used a Rotobroach hole cutter(the holes are cleaner and the bit does not drift. I hooked in to my fifth wheel for the first time on Saturday.

by: TSD02/28/2022

Towed with it for the first time. Had a Curt Q20 a few years ago, the A series Curt is much easier to use for hitching/unhitching. Very smooth towing, didn’t notice any chucking or loud noises in use. Very pleased with purchase. Not difficult to assemble and since I have the fixed hitch version (long bed truck) it’s manageable getting the hitch out of the bed in parts.

2005 Chevrolet Silverado

Well built. Some bolts are a bugger to get tightened up but not bad. Didn't remove the heat shield.

by: Lonnie02/12/2020

Installation of the Curt C16443-204 custom rail kit was a snap on my 2000 F350 dually. The instructions were pretty generic but not to hard to figure out. Once in place it was easy to line line everything up to fit the hitch in and tighten everything down.

by: Thomas01/16/2019

The hitch was simple to install. I also purchased the custom brackets to bolt the rails to the frame. Everything lined up exactly as it should. No drilling on the frame!!! I will review the hitch once I get more use out of it. It looks great though.

by: Wayne05/03/2020

Extremely pleased with the rails and hitch purchased from etrailer! The video and printed directions were very informative. One caveat though, the bolts inside the frame on the custom kit (2017Chevy 2500hd) are tough, 2 people are needed. We used magnet rods. The hitch(Curt A16) is great but the shipping was FANTASTIC. Ordered on 4/29 and received on 5/1. 2 days!!! Thank you Jane S. and etrailer!!

by: Bob R05/16/2023

Great hitch. One year review, traveled approx 12,000 miles with it. no issues, quiet, very little chucking. Easy to hook up and unhook. Having grease fittings is a plus. I like that the head comes off making it easier and lighter to remove and store.

by: Austin 02/14/2024

Had an issue with my bank denying my order of two of the same items. Talked to Adam with customer service and he was fantastic. He got everything straightened out and received my order in less than two days

by: Pat11/26/2020

It was easy to install and very solid, i towed my 16,000 5th wheel and it road very nice

by: Jkclassics09/04/2023

Hitch arrived two days after I ordered it! It was a breeze to assemble and install. Coupling and uncoupling is much simpler and the red-yellow-green indicators are a real plus. The first time I used it to tow, I was amazed at how much less movement there was of the kingpin in the jaws compared to my previous hitch.

by: Justin02/08/2020

Easy install great product love the interlocking jaws I can’t wait to tow with it thank you E trailer for a great used part well worth it with one little scratch on would buy a used product from etrailer anytime

by: Robert04/12/2024

by: Kris 05/09/2024

  • The 5th wheel rail and bracket kit that fits your 2013 Ram 1500 which I recommend is the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # C16444-204. It is also a fit even if your Ram has the factory Air Suspension system, which is not the case with other kits. If you also need a 5th wheel hitch I recommend the easy-to-use and secure

  • We can't recommend the mixing of fifth wheel brackets and rail manufacturers. If you have Reese rails you would want a set of Reese brackets. Without knowing what vehicle you have it would be hard for me to recommend the correct brackets to go with your rails. If you have Curt brackets and need rails you would want # C16204.

  • How to Increase Cab Clearance When Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer with a 2004 GMC Sierra 6-1/2 Bed
  • In order to choose a replacement pin box for your '89 Featherlite Holiday Rambler you can either look for a pin box number on your current pin box (like 1621 or 0719 for example) but if you can't locate a number the next best thing to do is take measurements of your pin box. If you can measure the width, distance from the center of the king pin to the first set of installed bolts, and then the distance between bolt holes horizontally and vertically I can use the table from the linked helpful

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch and Rails for a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500
  • There would've been a package that whoever was the original owner could've selected that gave them in bed rails to tow a 5th wheel. Seeing as though that's long gone, you're going to have to add them yourself with the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Chevy/GMC # C16418-204. I also recommend adding the 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Plug # 50-97-410 to the bed of your truck. This is going to make hooking and unhooking your 5th wheel so much easier and

  • Will Reese 5th Wheel Rails Mount to Other Brackets?
  • Reese above bed rails will work with the custom brackets or the universal brackets that attach to your truck frame. We recommend sticking with the same brand brackets and rails for the sake of compatibility, but we know customers have interchanged them without any known issues. When installing the above bed rails like # RP58058 if you have the rails but not the hardware you will need the Replacement Hardware Kit for Fifth Wheel Base Rails - 10 Bolt # RP58430. If you want custom brackets

  • Base Rails Needed for 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500 with Brackets Already Installed
  • There can be differences in base rail installation bolt patterns between manufacturers so it is important to make sure that you get some that are compatible. From the dimensions that you gave in your picture it looks like the previous owner had a Curt base rail kit installed. I went down to our Customer Service area and measured the base rails that we have and they had the exact same mounting bolt pattern that you referenced. If you did not already have the brackets installed on

  • The Curt Customer Fifth Wheel installation Kit # C16418-204 is compatible with Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley and Husky 5th wheel hitches. I recommend going with The Curt Q25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R24 Slider - Dual Jaw - 24,000 pounds # C16566. This slider hitch will connect directly to your Curt rails. It has a 2-jaw locking system which provides 360-degree jaw-to-king-pin contact . The Curt slider hitch prevents the trailer from hitting the cab of your pickup during

  • How Long Would it Take Shop to Install Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit C16418-204
  • I could see both figures being accurate depending on how familiar the shop is with fifth wheel bracket installs. We tell customers that it's going to take about 4 hours for this kit. But a shop with better tools and who is familiar with the bracket kits I could see them knocking it out in 2-1/2 hours pretty easy.

  • Recommended Parts for 5th Wheel Towing with a 2008 GMC Sierra 2500HD Short Bed
  • Thanks for reaching out! To tow a 5th wheel trailer with your 2008 GMC Sierra 2500HD short bed you'll need a base rail kit and the 5th wheel hitch itself. I also recommend picking up wiring like the Pollak # PK11893-11932 to install in the bed of your truck for easier access than at the bumper. For base rails I recommend the Curt Custom Install Kit # C16418-204 because the brackets line up with holes in the frame of your truck so you won't have to do any drilling into your frame which
