Forged, Self-Latching Jaw

Self-Latching Jaw

The one-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel hitch provides absolute security with its wraparound design. Increased jaw-to-king-pin contact results in not only a stronger connection, but less noisy rattling and stiff chucking as well.

The jaw is also always ready to receive, so you don't need to use the handle to open it before backing up toward your trailer. As long as the bail pin is removed from the latching handle, the jaw will accept the king pin as it enters the hitch.

Finally, the jaw is self-latching, so it will automatically secure your trailer's king pin when it moves into the jaw.

Quiet, Comfortable Ride

Pivot Bushings

In addition to the tight jaw tolerance, a close connection between the head and the pivot bushings further reduces rattle and movement. And because the pivot bushings are independent from the head, they can be tightened to ensure a strong connection over time.

King Pin Indicator Prevents High Pinning

King Pin Indicator

This M5 hitch features a built-in king pin indicator to ensure proper hookup. This indicator is located on the back of the head along with a V-shaped notch that are both visible from the cab of your truck. The V-notch is lined up with the jaw at the front of the hitch, and can be used as a guiding point to line the king pin up with the jaw as you back up your truck. The jaw also has an internal plate that keeps the king pin from entering if it is too high to enter safely. As a result, the king pin indicator will only change from red to green if the king pin is fully engaged in the jaw.

Easy-to-Use Latching Handle

Lever and Hitch

This hitch's handle is designed for smooth motion and effortless operation. It requires only 2 fingers to use and won't bind up as you pull. In addition, the handle is long, so it's easy to access from outside of your truck bed. And the ergonomic grip makes it comfortable to hold and pull from different angles.

Was looking for a bolt on kit for bare frame rails for a hotshot truck. These require support in the middle (at least one center bolt in each rail). Ended up having a fabricator weld a plate for support and mount the rails to that. But I guess that's reasonable for a universal kit.

by: Russ H.03/26/2022

Tried to install this on a 2001 Chevy Silverado 3500, dual rear wheel, long bed, 4x4, diesel engine truck. The clamp style mounting simply does not work. The ONLY way I can see this working is by drilling added holes in the frame of the truck at the front end of the side plates. This is because of a bend in the frame at the clamp location. Also at this location the frame is boxed in and any bolt holes will be hidden. Bolts would have to fished in with bolt wires.

This hitch has a feature or two we didn't even expect. It was an easy install and is performing great. Plenty of maneuverability and rock stable. etrailer's service was incredible and stayed on top of the delivery until we got it. We thought they went the second mile to make sure we got our hitch.

Best value for the money! I have used this hitch for a season now and I must say, it's worked out great. I use a Teflon plate with it and this hitch doesn't have much play in it going down the road. I have not had any issues with it sliding when locked.

Worked perfect used with airlift AL57298. Didn’t see any picture of universal rails and air bag kit working togther.

I am very impressed with the fit and finish. Packaging from etrailer.com was inadequate. UPS man unloaded the package, rang the doorbell and drove away before I got outside. There was a lock washer laying on the ground and a bracket was hanging out of the box. We opened the package and inventoried everything, and to my amazement everything was there. Ordering process was very easy and my order shipped quickly. While on my lunch break at work I added 6 items to my cart and printed it so I could complete the order when I got home. About 4 hours later 3 of the 6 items increased in price. This hitch increased in price by $2, not a big deal I guess. I was able to find this item about $12 cheaper at another retailer and I provided this information to etrailer.com. Within a few hours they refunded me 110% of the difference. I am installing this on a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 short bed and the instructions are lacking. Maybe a professional installer who has done this many times would not have any problems, but the instructions leave some things to your imagination.

Working great after one year of use. Use it to tow a 30 gooseneck trailer and it has worked as advertised. I bought a used 5th wheel hitch and although I have never used it, it fits perfectly in the rail system.

The kit arrived very quickly, in fact shipping was moved from "5 to 7 days" to "3 to 5 days"and arrived in 5 day. During Christmas rush this was great, and really appreciated. I ask a technician friend to install it for me. It went together very nicely.

I am rating this as EXCELLENT, do to the ease of installation an the escallation of the shipping arrangement. Thank You for a great product and great service.

2015 Ford F-150

Installed these rails with the short bed Reese bracket kit for 2015 or newer f150. Installation went well. Instructions were pretty straight forward but measurements from end of bed were not quite right and put the rails too far forward of the underbed brackets by about 2". I actually measured off the cross rails under the bed of the truck after I had installed the brackets.

Helpful hint: after getting a hole drilled on either side of the front rail to secure it to brackets under bed, put the hitch on both rails which will line up the rear rail exactly right then drill the rest of your mounting holes.

The included spacers are not quite thick enough and have come out from between the rails and bottom of the bed a few times even after I tightened bolts so much, bed started to bend. Have to find some other Shem's to make it tight enough.

I would recommend these rails eventhough it took a little bit to get them in the right location.

PS - Be very careful when drilling holes on driver side as you are right over the gas tank.

I sent an email and was very pleased to get a response the next day, It was a universal kit RP30035, I had to make spacers for 3 of the frame brackets, the gaps were all over the map no matter how much I squared it up, all in all I'm pleased.

I've had this system installed in my 1996 Ford F150 for a year now. I did the installation myself and found it to be relatively easy. I had to remove the rear tires to give better access to the frame, but after I did that drilling the needed holes and bolting in the brackets was straight foward. I use these rails with a gooseneck plate and have had no trouble pulling anything yet.

Original package was damaged by UPS somewhere during transport and delivery. etrailer made it very easy to get the missing part (smaller mounting bracket fell out of box somewhere) and instead of just sending the one part they re sent the bolt kit, all four mounting brackets, and a new pull cord. So basically the entire assembly other than the base rails. Could’nt be happier and will post pictures as soon as it’s installed

2006 Chevrolet Silverado

I installed this kit in my 2006 Silverado 2500HD to hold a Reese 16k sliding hitch. The kit is very well built and had more parts than required to complete the installation. Once installed, works great and am very pleased!

The work itself is cumbersome and a couple things to be aware of. First, I squared and centered the rails as required. Before I drilled in the bed, I set the hitch in the rails and they moved slightly and had to recenter. This only tops a few minutes but I recommend setting the hitch in the rails before drilling. Second, the alignment for the front chassis brackets was challenging. You have to drill the bottom two bolt holes to ensure you can get a wrench in the nuts as the frame is enclosed there and reaching around the tank and brake lines. The instructions were not specific as to which holes to drill.

Great 5th wheel trailer hitch product. Great customer service.

by: Cindy B08/11/2016

purchased just the rails for 5th wheel receiver as we bought a used camper and the Reese Easy Loader came with it but owner did not want to remove rails from their truck. Technician was excellent in helping with installation and emailed us directions specific to my truck. Shipping was quick and install went well. We had room to use 12 bolts vs 10 so we did. We did install 1" forward in bed as we had room to do it. Better more forward when hauling. The knurled bolts were too short for our truck bed and we called and let them know. We had our own that were longer so no delay in install.

The Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit that I purchased has been great. I have had no issue with it and it does everything I need it to do. Great Product!

by: Jeffrey09/28/2021

Great product, shipped in really good time, etrailer was excellent in communication, only small problem was package was damaged in transit, and my item had some pretty bad scratches on it. But when I notified etrailer of this they gave me a choice of shipping it back in exchange for a new one or giving me a nice credit back if I could live with the scratches. I choose the latter and I thought it was great that they gave me the choice.

I had to return this hitch as it was unusable due to manufacturing defects. etrailer honored the return and refunded me completely.

Do you have a question about this Fifth Wheel Hitch?

  • How to Determine if a Dodge Ram 1500 Could Tow a 34 ft Flagstaff Trailer
  • The final answer on whether or not your truck can tow your trailer is dependent on the towing capacity of the truck (in the owners manual), and the loaded weight of the trailer as it is ready to tow. Since I do not know the year of your truck I couldn't get any type of tow capacity range for it, and since I do not know the specific model of your trailer I couldn't find a dry weight of it either. From similar questions we have found that the most your truck can tow typically is around

  • I pulled up the specs of your 39 foot 2015 Rushmore fifth wheel and it looks like it has a dry weight of 13k and a max loaded weight of 16.5k. What that means is that your 15k fifth wheel hitch will have the capacity for the trailer when it is unloaded but not when loaded to it's max. A hitch like the Reese M5 part # RP30928 would work well as it has a 20k capacity. • Assuming that you've got industry standard rails like the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP30035 you won't have a problem adding another 5th wheel hitch with a higher capacity. The base rails will be able to handle any weight that you throw at them within the capacities of your tow vehicle, so upgrading to a larger 5th wheel hitch won't be an issue assuming it is designed to fit in the same industry standard base rails. With that said,

  • Base Rail Kit Recommendation for a 1996 Dodge Ram 3500 Dually Long Bed
  • The Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit, 10 bolt, # RP30035, is the base rail kit we recommend for your 1996 Dodge Ram 3500 Dually Long Bed. You will want to check the weight capacity of your truck and your trailer, and choose a fifth wheel hitch that is compatible with the weight of your fifth wheel trailer, but does not exceed the weight capacity of your truck. I have included a link to some fifth wheel hitches that work with this base rail kit.

  • Is a Pull wire included with the Universal 5th Wheel Rail Kit for a 2011 GMC Sierra Pickup
  • Yes, there is one pull wire included with the Reese Universal Base Rail Installation Kit, # RP30035, for pulling the bolts from and access hole in the truck frame into the mounting hole location. The Universal Kit that you referred to will work on the 2011 GMC Sierra, but for a much easier installation, I would recommend going with a custom install kit, to reduce drilling into the truck frame and reduce installation time. All of our fifth-wheel installation kits include the pull wires

  • Will Custom Fit Under Bed Brackets Fit Pro Series Universal 5th Wheel Rails in a 2015 Ram 2500
  • The rails that are included with universal install kit # RP30035 for Reese 5th wheel hitch # RP30035 are the shorter rails. The brackets, # RP56009, are designed for the new, longer rails # RP30153, so they would not work together but there is something that will work. You could use brackets # RP50054 for a 2015 Ram 2500 and the rails that come with the universal kit or just get the whole custom kit with the brackets and rails # RP50054-58. I have included a link to a video showing installation

  • 5th Wheel Mounting Brackets and Rails for 2009 Ford F-350 Super Duty
  • You will not be able to re-use parts of a fifth wheel kit from a Chevy to a Ford, nor would I recommend attempting it, but we do have kits that fit your single-wheel 2009 Ford F-350 Super Duty. Like you mentioned, there are custom-fit kits, which do not require any drilling into the frame of your F-350, but these are more expensive than the universal kits. I recommend going this route, and the right fit is the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit with Base Rails for 5th Wheel

  • How To Install 5th Wheel Hitch On 2015 Ford F-350 With Side Mount Air Bag Brackets
  • In order to install a 5th wheel hitch on a 2015 Ford F-350 with air bag kit that mounts outside the frame rails you will have to go with a universal option, the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches part # RP30035. The reason for this is because the frame brackets are much smaller so you should have space to mount them in front of and behind the air bag brackets. That said, you will need to drill holes into the frame to mount them but that is the

  • Fifth Wheel Rail Kit Recommendation for a 2008 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Short Bed

One route is to go with a universal kit like the part # RP30035 that has been confirmed as a fit for your truck. Or you can go with a custom install kit that will minimize drilling and install time like the part # RP50064-58. This would be the route I would recommend. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.

  • How to Determine if a 1976 Ford F-250 Can Tow a Fifth Wheel Trailer
  • Whether or not you can tow a certain fifth wheel with your truck will depend on the weight of the trailer and the capacities of the truck. I couldn't find any info on the towing capacities for your truck due to the age but if you still have the owners manual it should be listed there. For fifth wheel rails you would need the part # RP30035 which is a universal rail kit confirmed to fit your truck. For a fifth wheel hitch then you would want the part # RP30928 for a 20k hitch.

  • Choosing Universal or Custom 5th Wheel Installation Kit for 2006 Ford F-250
  • Since you F250's frame has already been drilled for a universal 5th wheel installation kit like # RP30035 and you do not want to drill more holes, I recommend the custom install kit # RP50082-58. Without knowing the exact kit that was previously installed I cannot assure you that a new universal-fit install kit will use the exact same holes already drilled. The work of the original installer also comes into play here. A custom-fit install kit will save you a lot of time and effort on

There are adapters that you can use instead. For example one of the more popular options is the Anderson Ranch Hitch, # AM3100. I have linked a video review of this adapter for you. Another option is to use a Reese Goose Box. There are a few different ones available and they fit specific 5th wheel trailer pin boxes: # RP85FR fits

  • Where to Locate Fifth Wheel Rails in Bed of 2003 GMC Sierra 1500HD 6-1/2 ft Bed
  • The Husky part CP07054 is actually a fifth wheel hitch and not a rail kit. If you wanted to install a universal rail kit like the part # RP30035 in your truck I can help with the needed dimensions for that though. From the rear edge of the truck bed to the rear edge of the rear rail will measure 25-1/8 inches. You would then use the hitch to locate the front rail once you have placed the rear rail. This ensures that the hitch fits as smoothly as possible.
