Secure, Interlocking Two-Piece Jaw

A16 Two-Piece Interlocking Jaw

Unlike slide-bar models, the rounded, interlocking, two-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Three-Point Indicator System

A16 Color Indicator System

Get peace of mind with Curt's color-coded lock indicator. Just look at the indicator - either the one on the handle or the one on the hitch itself - to determine whether the jaw is in the correct position to uncouple (red), couple (yellow) or tow (green).

Curt rebranded this fifth-wheel trailer hitch by changing its name from Q16 to A16 in 2016. All features and specifications remained the same.

Very solid and well built. Installation took me longer than advertised. The instructions were a little vague, but I figured it out. A few extra carriage bolts and flange nuts would have been nice. All in all, everything lined up perfectly when I measured carefully as outlined in the instructions. I towed with it yesterday for the first time, and it worked great!

2003 Ford F-250 Super Duty

My wife and I installed this in 3 hrs. We are in our mid 70’s. We had access to a 2 post lift which made this much easier as we could raise and lower the truck as needed for access. Although some say the instructions were vague I had no problem, just read them through first and begin. As the instructions stated some vehicles may have some differences as we found that the hole for the front driver side bolt needed to be drilled into the frame. After the bracket was mounted we just used the existing hole in the bracket as a guide. We previously installed an AIR LIFT AL59393 kit and it works great with this rail kit. We did our research to be sure they worked together. If you want to be sure about compatibility call etrailer and talk to one of the experts.

This is the fourth time I've installed a 5th wheel kit on any of my trucks,i have done this many time. This time I went with three Curt 16443 5th wheel brackets. Poor instructions, I could have bought a different kit with better instructions for significantly less. Buy the universal 5th wheel kit from your local autoparts store.

Also, this kit only uses TWO grade 5 bolts to secure each bracket to the frame whereas the universal kit uses two bolts per bracket (four brackets total), nor can I seem to find an install video. Overall, I am not happy.

by: Phillip 04/25/2024

One year removed from installation at this point. Installation went as well as could be expected, as my truck had 350,000 miles and 23 years in service at the time of installation. Compounding the situation was a very thick spray-in bedliner and a pretty severe bow in the bed from a dropped load. I had to leave out a few of the rail spacers on account of the aforementioned handicaps. I'll report that with some careful, coordinated bolt tightening, after all items were in place, I have 2 heavy, high quality 5th-wheel rails that work well. I'm in the salt belt, (the truck is from Phoenix), so I re-painted everything that was exposed and it's held up well so far. I'd recommend for other customers, both the product and the store. etrailer is great and so is Curt - this is my second Curt product from etrailer and both were great experiences all-around.

I purchased both the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs - C16120, and Reese Pull Pin Lock Plates for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - Qty 4 - RP58093 for my F350 SD 4X4 Crew Cab Long Bed. I'm pulling a 30' Retro 5th. Wheel and at times I pull my tandem axle UTV Trailer (Double Trailers) . I already had the rails installed in my truck, this fit right in and I used the new Pins and Lock Plates for securing to truck. I have pulled all over from South Dakota and the Northwest. The Hitch has performed Flawlessly. No bucking, nor clunking. Very quiet and smooth ride. I would recommend this set up to anyone for convenience of Hook up and Disconnect, Excellent towing, quiet, and the security of the lock pins. I use Disc locks to prevent access for bolt cutters.

I was fully expecting a hitch in excess of 100 pounds to show up in a destroyed box. This did not. They had taken the Time and effort to cover the box with an additional layer of cardboard and it must have had a million staples in it. It was almost comical, you will need a crowbar or large screwdriver to get it open. However, when I did finally get the package open I found a perfectly un scratched hitch with no missing parts. I have not pulled with the hitch yet but , it does look like it is going to perform great. I'm using this in a 2006 ram 2500 4x4 short bed pulling a 2015 forest river Salem and it allows 91 degrees of turning due to the clipped corners on the front cap of the trailer. I will be curious to see how long the rubber isolators last before needing replaced and if they are readily available. Also the curt sticker on the hitch was peeling off when I took it out of the box, would be nice to get that replaced.

by: Cody 05/21/2024

Great product that fit the way it should. Installed by my self in a few hours and then dropped on my fifth wheel hitch and proceeded to haul about 20,000lbs about 9,000 miles. Couldn't ask for better.

2004 Ford F-250 Super Duty

I ordered this for my 2004 Ford F250 Super Duty. Shipping was fast and arrived in good condition. Installation was straight forward and works perfect for the multiple 5th wheel hitches I’ve used it for. Would buy here again if I ever need anything else. Also, the price was the same or cheaper than elsewhere and the detailed and helpful website was the deciding factor why I purchased here.

Work great on my 2023 ford f350. And 38 ft 5th wheel very smooth when driving. Easy to hook up 5th wheel

Easy to install, excellent product. My 14Yo son and I removed the bed, replaced the bed struts and installed the new hitch. Perfect fit

by: Keith L.09/02/2019

Purchased this hitch, install kit, and wiring harness for a new to me 2015 F-250. After watching the installation video and reviewing the included instructions the install went smoothly. The only deviation from the instructions was instead of using a unibit to drill the 9/16" holes in the bed I used a Rotobroach hole cutter(the holes are cleaner and the bit does not drift. I hooked in to my fifth wheel for the first time on Saturday.

by: Lonnie02/12/2020

Installation of the Curt C16443-204 custom rail kit was a snap on my 2000 F350 dually. The instructions were pretty generic but not to hard to figure out. Once in place it was easy to line line everything up to fit the hitch in and tighten everything down.

by: Mark05/24/2024

Adam E provided invaluable assistance with part numbers, availability and compatibility. The order shipped the same day and I have now received it earlier than I had expected. Thanks

I send a product review and picture once I have completed installation.

by: TSD02/28/2022

Towed with it for the first time. Had a Curt Q20 a few years ago, the A series Curt is much easier to use for hitching/unhitching. Very smooth towing, didn’t notice any chucking or loud noises in use. Very pleased with purchase. Not difficult to assemble and since I have the fixed hitch version (long bed truck) it’s manageable getting the hitch out of the bed in parts.

by: Wayne05/03/2020

Extremely pleased with the rails and hitch purchased from etrailer! The video and printed directions were very informative. One caveat though, the bolts inside the frame on the custom kit (2017Chevy 2500hd) are tough, 2 people are needed. We used magnet rods. The hitch(Curt A16) is great but the shipping was FANTASTIC. Ordered on 4/29 and received on 5/1. 2 days!!! Thank you Jane S. and etrailer!!

by: Thomas01/16/2019

The hitch was simple to install. I also purchased the custom brackets to bolt the rails to the frame. Everything lined up exactly as it should. No drilling on the frame!!! I will review the hitch once I get more use out of it. It looks great though.

by: Lisa Blair07/27/2017

The Product was nice and worth the money, the packaging for shipping was really poor. The shipping was very fast but when we received it, one part was damaged with dents and scratches. We are very unsatisfied with that. We paid 400 for a hitch that is damaged and will rust. The parts in the hitch box were not wrapped for protection. Also, instead of putting it in a box that fit, they staples a million staples to make a box around the factory box. It was very unprofessional.

Pretty upset for the money we spent.

by: Bob R05/16/2023

Great hitch. One year review, traveled approx 12,000 miles with it. no issues, quiet, very little chucking. Easy to hook up and unhook. Having grease fittings is a plus. I like that the head comes off making it easier and lighter to remove and store.

by: Syd12/27/2023

I HAVEN'T HAD ONE PROBLEM WITH MY HITCH. I bought it about a year ago. I arrived sooner than I was told it would and it is still in the box. I never opened it or installed it. But I do plan to.

by: Pat11/26/2020

It was easy to install and very solid, i towed my 16,000 5th wheel and it road very nice

2001 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Really slow shipping. The rails for some reason get shipped separately from the side mounted pieces, everything was marked delivered. A week later, I payed someone to come install it just for them to tell me the rails are not in the box. I still haven’t received the rails. The side mounts shipped fast, however the rails are currently being horse carried cross country and probably won’t be here until next year.

by: Justin02/08/2020

Easy install great product love the interlocking jaws I can’t wait to tow with it thank you E trailer for a great used part well worth it with one little scratch on would buy a used product from etrailer anytime

2003 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Only pulled camper for 20 miles so far, but hitch seemed to work great! Very easy to install and put together. Took about 3-4 hrs start to finish.

by: Jkclassics09/04/2023

Hitch arrived two days after I ordered it! It was a breeze to assemble and install. Coupling and uncoupling is much simpler and the red-yellow-green indicators are a real plus. The first time I used it to tow, I was amazed at how much less movement there was of the kingpin in the jaws compared to my previous hitch.

  • Curt A16 Fifth Wheel Hitch Compatibility With EAZ-Lift Base Rails
  • Since the pin holes of your rails are 27" apart you do not have industry standard rails and the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16120 will not work on them. You would need to install some new base rails in your truck for the hitch to attach to. Rail kits are vehicle specific so if you reply back with the vehicle you're using then I can find the correct fitting rails for you. • Comparing Curt A Series and Q Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches
  • The A series of Curt 5th wheel trailer hitches, such as # C16120, is the newest version and is replacing the Q series. The A series jaws overlap whereas the Q series butt up against each other more than overlap. And the bearing and shaft that the head pivots on is different between the 2. They do look very similar, in fact the specs and design are identical like you said, but you can think of the A series as the new and improved version of the Q series.

  • First I would check to ensure all bolts holding the head of your HT31326-31314 are in tight. There are two rubber pads that go between the head and the feet and those could be worn out. We no longer carry Husky hitches or their parts so you'd have to reach out to Husky for replacements. If you can't get those pads or would just like to switch to a newer model hitch I recommend the # C16120.

If you decide to upgrade 5th wheel hitches, I recommend the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch item # BWRVK3200. The Patriot's 3-4" thick dual jaw will give you a 360-degree jaw to kingpin contact. This system minimizes the chucking, jarring and noise that can occur when towing a fifth wheel trailer.

  • Where do the Spacers Install, Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # C16443-204 2003 Ford F-350
  • The square spacers go between the rails and the truck bed where the bolts go through that attach to the nuts on the under side of the bed. They should be placed in the lower corrugation in the bed. Sometimes, a hole for the bolt has to be drilled in the side of one of the raised corrugations. In this case, you can use an angle grinder and trim the spacer at a 45 degree angle so that it will fit. So you would have a bolt going through the rail, then the spacer (which is between the rail

  • Recommended Custom-Fit Base Rail Kit For A 2002 Ford F-250 Super Duty
  • There are still custom-fit rail kits available for your 2002 Ford F-250 Super Duty. The Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Ford F250 and F350 # C16443-204, for example, is a confirmed fit for your vehicle. It has a carbide finish instead of a gloss, which tends to hold up better in my opinion and show less scratches. If you don't already have an in-bed 7-way connector then I recommend also picking up the Pollak 5th Wheel / Gooseneck T-Connector with 7-Pole # PK11893-11932

  • 5th Wheel Brackets & Base Rail Kit for 2002 Ford F-350 Super Duty
  • We do have the correct 5th wheel brackets and base rail kit for your 2002 Ford F-350, though the Curt option you mentioned is a fit for later model years. The best option for your truck that will allow you to mount your Q20 hitch is actually from Reese: - Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch Custom Installation Kit with Brackets and Rails - Ford Super Duty 1999-04 # 50043-6008 This kit will give you both the brackets and rails for your truck and are a much better value than the similar Curt

  • Does Curt 5th Wheel Bracket Hardware have to be Replaced to Install Air Bags on a 2014 Ford F-250
  • Personally I would have gone with the longest breaker bar I could get in there. You wouldn't have needed strength so much as leverage. But that is a moot point since the bolts have been removed. Now we have to get you the right hardware! But, the Ride-Rite kit # F2597 for your 2014 Ford F-250, does come with bolts, nuts, and washers that go through that center hole in the frame and 5th wheel brackets. So the center bolts from the 5th wheel install kit are the only ones that needed to

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Rail Kit For 2003 Ford F-250
  • For your 2003 Ford F-250, I recommend installing 10 bolt rails and using custom brackets for your vehicle. You can use the Curt kit # C16443-204 or the Reese Kit # RP50082-58. The 4 bolt rail kits aren't custom fits and since you already have the holes in the bed, the work is mostly done for you. The custom brackets will fit into existing holes in your truck frame so there won't be any drilling required for you. These kits will come with all the hardware you need.

  • Will the Husky Silver Series 26K # HT31318-31325 Fit the Same Base Rails as a Husky 16K EZ Roller
  • The Husky Silver Series 26K HT31318-31325 is compatible with industry standard base rails like what come with the Kit # C16443-204 for your 2004 Ford F-250. Since the Husky EZ Roller uses base rails with the same attachment points you will have no issues using the 26K with your current setup. I have attached a photo of the measurements for standard base rails that you can use as a confirmation.

  • 5TH Wheel Rail Kit For a 2000 Ford F-250 Short Bed To Accept a B&W Patriot 5TH Wheel Hitch
  • I recommend installing the Curt 5TH Wheel Rails # C16443-204 on your 2000 Ford F-250. Currently B&W only goes back to 2005 for their custom under bed brackets. For your 2000 F-250 you would have to use the B&W Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit # BWRVR3200 to stay with B&W rails and under bed brackets. These underbed brackets are universal so you will have to drill the frame to use this kit. The Curt # C16443-204 rails are custom fit so you will not have to drill your frame.

  • How To Use B&W Patriot Slider 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch on 2002 Ford F-250 6-3/4' Bed
  • I do have an option for you but B&W does not make a custom fifth wheel rail kit for a 2002 Ford F-250 Super Duty. That said, you can use the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit part # C16443-204 which does the same thing and it's much more cost effective. It's a custom fit as well so there's no drilling into the frame and it will work great with the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # BWRVK3270.

  • Recommended 5TH Wheel Hitches To Replace an RBW on a 2001 Ford F-350
  • I have some recommendations for you as the RBW 5th wheel hitch and rails are obsolete. I recommend installing the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # C16443-204 in the bed of your 2001 Ford F-350. This will allow you to use either the Fixed E16 # C16115 or Slider E16 # 16516 5th wheel hitch with your F-350. These are both rated for 16,000lbs which is more than the RBW. If you need a recommendation for a stronger 5th wheel hitch please let me know so you do not get a hitch that is
