Hey Jeff, thanks for reaching out. You asked a good question so I went ahead and ran it by my contact at Firestone. They said the # F2101 kit will fit both the 1500 and 2500 models of the 1994 Suburban. Older catalogues show fitment on the 2500 Suburbans with the same kit. They did admit their Firestone page needs to be updated, so it turns out the info on our site is correct! Thanks for bringing that to our attention.

So long as you have 2" of space beneath your factory transmission pan then yes, the Derale Transmission Pan Cooler part # D14204 will fit your 1994 GMC Suburban K1500 with the 4L60 transmission. In regards to the transmission fluid filter, you can use the OEM style that is for your transmission but Derale does not offer transmission fluid filters. The note for using a smaller transmission fluid filter only applies to models after 1996.

If you do not have a proportional brake controller (but instead have a time-delay type) the LED being lit could indicate a short to the controller output circuit. In some cases the manual brake switch on your controller may be partly engaged; this would also cause a signal to be sent to the 7-way BK LED. You can correct this by flipping the manual switch on and off several times to clean the contacts.

Hi Lamont; if you already have a 4-way on your 1999 Suburban you can upgrade to a 7-way using the # ETBC7 you were looking at. If you don't have a 4-way, you will also need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C55319. Once you have your wiring installed you will be able to add a brake controller like the Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160. This is a budget friendly option that still has a lot of nice features and is proportional.

The blue wire on a 5 way plug can be used for reverse lockout function (on surge brakes), or can be used for electric brake signal depending on how your specific trailer is wired. Most 7 pole to 5 pole adapters are wired for the reverse lockout function for surge brakes, not for electric brake signal. To install a 7-way on your 1996 GMC Suburban you'll need to first install a 4-way like part # 41125 to give you the taillight circuits. Then to convert to a 7-way all you need to do is plug this 4-way into the # 37185 and you'll have a 7-way with the taillight circuits active.

Using a junction box makes installing new 7-way wiring much easier.
Often times, people will run the wires from a 7-way such as yours to a junction box like part # 38656. From there, they will run the standard wire colors to the trailer lights, brakes and battery. The OL or overload error code indicates a short in the brake output circuit. As a first step, you will want to see if the problem exists with the wiring on the trailer or on the vehicle. Due to its intermittent nature, I'm suspecting a loose connection or a worn wire in the brake controller's output circuit.
