The dimensions of Thule replacement part 853-5127 are shown on the linked photo I prepared for you after pulling one of these from our warehouse and measuring it. This item is a flexible plastic material whose mounting holes are spaced at 3-inches on center.
This item fits inside the track of factory roof rack railings and mounts to the bottom of the rack foot with bolt # 924-0617-15, washer # 951-0613-12 and track nut # 853-2106.
For reference, all Thule roof racks for the 2008 Ford... view full answer...
Yes, we do! You will need the Replacement Hardware Kit for Trailer Hitches item # RHK. This will have all of the hardware you need to install either the Curt Hitch item # 13542 or the Draw-Tite item # 75299. These are the two hitches we know fit the 2007 Ford Freestyle. If you have a different one you'll need to find the model number.
You will want to go to the item # RHK product page and on the right hand side where it says Hitch Item Number you'll want to insert either 13542 or 75299.... view full answer...
I spoke with my contact at CE Smith regarding the Trailer Hub Assembly # CE13100 that you reference. She stated that they use an NLGI # 2 red grease like the LubriMatic LMX Industrial Strength Grease # L11390. This will be compatible with the grease currently in the hub, but I do still recommend removing as much grease from the hubs as you can when repacking, as it's possible that the old grease may be contaminated from moisture.
I have attached a great article on repacking trailer bearings... view full answer...
If both the inner and outer bearings on your trailer spindle are part # L44643, the # 8-258BTUC1 would work well for you.
This is a hub assembly that works with 13 to 15 inch wheels and has a 5 on 4-1/2 wheel bolt pattern. This assembly includes bearings, races, seal, grease cap, wheel bolts and lug nuts. view full answer...
Having a hitch with a higher capacity than the vehicle itself is a common occurrence.
From my online research, I found that the Ford Freestyle does indeed have a 2000 lb towing capacity. As you correctly stated, the Class III hitches available for the vehicle have a 3500 lb towing capacity. Because the overall capacity of the towing system will be limited to the capacity of its lowest rated component, you'd be limited to the 2000 lb capacity of the vehicle. Even if a hitch has a higher... view full answer...
To wire the 7-way connector you have already purchased, you will need the Pigtail Wiring Harness for Pollak Replacement 7-Pole RV Socket, part # PK11998. This harness would plug into the rear of the trailer connector, and the bare leads on the other end would connect to the existing vehicle wiring, using the color code mentioned in the product description. If you do not already have one, I would recommend using a circuit tester, like part # PTW2993 to locate the correct circuits for installing... view full answer...
The Curt Tow Bar with Adjustable-Width Arms # C19745 will not fit the 2006 Ford Freestyle since the Freestyle cannot be flat towed. Assuming that you have the Front Wheel Drive model of the 2006 Freestyle, you would need to use a tow dolly similar to the Demco Kar Kaddy # DM9713045 . The Kar Kaddy has a 4,800-lb capacity, which will safely carry your vehicle. The Kar Kaddy comes with disc brakes built in and will offer you the ability to fold it up for easy storage when it's not in use.

Yes, everything you have listed will fit your 2006 Ford Freestyle. The hitch, # C12242, fits the vehicle, the ball mount, # C45572, fits the hitch, and the wiring # C55587 is a fit for the vehicle as well. You did a fantastic job getting it all picked out! view full answer...
I would recommend that you get a Class 3 hitch with a 2 inch receiver for your vehicle. The Class 3 hitch will provide the most versatility and options for towing and hauling. You will have a wider selection of all accessories, bike racks included, with the 2 inch receiver hitch. It will also give you the best options if your towing or hauling needs should change in the future.
The Draw-Tite Class 3 Trailer Hitch, item # 75299 would be an excellent choice and installs easily with no drilling... view full answer...
The manufacturer does not make instructions available. It is possible that since the customer review you read was from Canada that he/she received instructions. I can walk you through the wiring process though.
First, find a place to securely install the 7-pole connector somewhere at the rear of your vehicle. Using a mounting bracket for 7-pole connectors such as part # 18138, can provide you with a clean and secure mounting point. Next, plug in the the 4-pole connector on your vehicle... view full answer...
I do not have the exact figure for how many inches of rise or drop you would need to order a drawbar with. But I can help you figure this out. The hitch opening for the Draw-Tite hitch # 75299 will basically sit right under the bumper of your 2005 Ford Freestyle once installed. So if you measure from the ground to bottom of the bumper you will have basically the distance rise/drop you would have if you had a ball mount with no rise or drop.
So if the distance happens to be 16 inches from... view full answer...
Most likely the SportRack 3 Trunk Mounted Bike Rack part # SR3152 that you referenced would fit your 2005 Ford Freestyle, but Sportrack does not have a fitguide that lists fits for this rack on vehicles so it is hard for me to say for certain.
But for a similarly priced rack that has been confirmed to fit your vehicle check out the Hollywood Racks 3 Bike Carrier part # HRE3. I attached an install video for this rack for you to check out.
I also attached a link to a page that has all of... view full answer...
Hey Dave, that's really good info that we appreciate you sharing with us. We can't make Curt change their instructions but posting this on our site will for sure help future people who want to install this hitch. view full answer...
It sounds like there's too much going on with the controller for it to be a faulty unit. I suspect that the controller might be wired to the wrong stoplight switch wire, and my Curt representative agrees. Use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 on the wire you have the red brake controller wire attached to. In the 2008 model, a purple/white striped wire was used, but I have no information about a 2007. This wire should show power ONLY when the brake pedal is pressed, not with the turn... view full answer...
The Curt trailer hitch # 13542 for the 2006 Ford Freestyle is made in the US. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. If you plan on doing some towing, I recommend the etrailer ball mount kit # EBMK4. It comes with a ball mount, interchangeable ball set, hitch pin with clip and a carrying bag. For trailer wiring use # 118395. I have included some instruction and video links for the wiring as well. view full answer...
European trailer wiring is very different from North American, specifically U.S. trailer wiring. In Europe a 7-Way connector is used to achieve the same functions U.S. trailers use in a 4-Way system.
Our brake and turn signal functions are combined. A U.S. 4-Way is set up as follows: Brown - tail lights, yellow - left turn and brake, green - right turn and brake, and white is ground.
Reverse lights are not typically used on small utility trailers in the U.S. In many states they are not... view full answer...
We have trailer wiring that is a confirmed fit for your 2006 Ford Freestyle but it does not use the unusual connector you sent in a picture of. Instead you'd want the T-One kit part # 118395 which installs by plugging inline with the taillight connectors of your vehicle. I attached an install video for more info for you to check out as well.
What you have might be related to a Ford only style of connector but you'd have to check with a Ford dealer to know for sure. view full answer...
The trailer hitch hardware size for a 2005 Ford Freestyle varies by hitch. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13542 for example uses 1/2" carriage bolts. If you need replacement hardware for example you can use the Replacement Hitch Hardware Kit part # RHK. view full answer...
Like most electronic devices trailer wiring harnesses are all made overseas. Out of all the options for the 2005 Ford Freestyle I recommend Tekonsha harness # 118395 because they have proven to be the most reliable with the fewest reported issues compared to the other options. view full answer...
The correct wiring harness you would need for your 2005 Ford Freestyle would be the Tow Ready Harness part # 118395. This will give you a flat 4-way that should match up to your trailer's 5-way.
Typically the 5th wire on a 5-way is run to the reverse lights of the tow vehicle for a reverse lockout or reverse lights. Either way if you need that fifth circuit you would also need to install the part # 20036. This will plug into the 4-way of your vehicle and the fifth wire will tap into your... view full answer...
