Towing a light trailer should feel steady, not tense. This lightweight True Tow weight distribution hitch helps your setup settle into balance with an easy one-bolt adjustment and built-in anti-sway, so your drive feels calmer and more predictable.
When too much trailer weight settles onto the back of your tow vehicle, the front end can feel light and the whole setup can seem less settled. The True Tow weight distribution system helps spread that load more evenly between your tow vehicle and trailer. Once adjusted, your setup sits more level, tracks more steadily, and steering feels more controlled.

Getting your weight distribution dialed in should not mean repeatedly taking the hitch apart. Adjustment is built into the hitch head, letting you fine-tune the system using the Lead Screw instead of monkeying with a pile of washers. Turn the Lead Screw clockwise or counterclockwise with the included tool or your own socket wrench to angle the hitch head up or down. That changes how much pressure is applied to the spring arms, making it easier to get the trailer sitting level and the load distributed properly before you head down the road.
A lighter trailer can easily get pushed around when crosswinds pick up or a semi passes on the highway. Dual friction sway control uses two built-in friction points to help resist that side-to-side movement. You get a trailer that tracks more steadily and a towing setup that feels more settled from the driver's seat.
You do not need an oversized weight distribution hitch just to get better balance and sway control. This True Tow is built for trailers up to 6,000 lbs GTW, giving smaller towing setups the support they need without moving into a heavier-capacity system. The 6" drop and 1-1/4" height increments give you room to match the hitch height to your trailer for a level towing position. If your truck sits lower or higher, the same 6,000-lb capacity hitch is also available with 4", 8", and 10" drop options, making it easier to find the right setup for stock, lifted, or higher-riding trucks.

Hi, everyone. It's Steve here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Weigh Safe True Tow Weight Distribution Hitch options. Now, these all are gonna feature a two inch shank, and you have between a four, six, eight, and 10 inch drop option. So I will throw up an image real quick on the screen. Again, we're looking at complete kits here today.
Whether you want the four, six, eight, or 10 inch drop, these are the corresponding item numbers. So if you wanted an eight inch drop, that's the third one down, item number WS76WR. You want a 10 inch assembly with the complete setup, WS26WR. So again, make sure you're checking those part numbers. Make sure you're verifying you're on the correct page with the correct drop that you're looking for.
So again, folks, I just want to show 'em all on video so you can see the differences, but yet still see the complete system that we're checking out today. Now these feature Weigh Safe's innovative live adjustment system, and that's right up here on the top. You can fine tune the spring bar tension while you're fully hitched up. So that means there's gonna be no more repeated disconnecting or readjusting. All you gotta do is get this dialed in the first time.
Now it's ready to go up every time you use it from there forward on that same setup. So you can quickly level your trailer. It's gonna improve your timing of getting set up and leaving the campsite or leaving to the campsite, and it's gonna improve your towing stability right out of the gate. Now this system has been built specifically for smaller and mid-size trailer. It is a lightweight system, again, at 6,000 pounds gross towing capacity.
And it has the weight distribution with integrated sway control points down here on the bars at these friction points on these L bracket systems. And that's gonna help reduce trailer movement that's caused by wind, passing traffic, uneven road conditions, and those kind of things. And it's gonna help not only tow your vehicle a lot more safer, but as you're gonna feel that difference in the steering wheel and in your ride quality as well. So again, you will get the included two inch shank, again, either in the four, six, eight, or 10 inch drop options. So right now I have the four inch option on there, and you can see just how much longer that 10 inch drop option is if you needed that 10 inch drop. So make sure you're checking your setup, making sure you're checking level and those kind of things, and getting the correct drop you need to match up with your system. And we can always help answer any questions you may have as far as which one do you need for your setup as well. And then, again, you can dial in the top here once you get everything set up, and that's gonna help you get level and get right at that sweet spot. You do have some maintenance grease zerks here on both sides. That's gonna keep those bars pivoting easily whenever they need to. Got your standard two and five 16ths inch hitch ball on top that's included. It's already to go out of the box, so you have everything ready to go out of the box as far as, you know, not a lot of pieces you gotta put together. Obviously, you're gonna have to put together the side brackets here. Let me go ahead and pull one of them off and walk up here so you can get a little better view of this. So this is where your spring bar is gonna sit and it's gonna use friction. That's one of those sway control parts. And I do like their little L brackets here. The way this pin works, there's a lot different and more ergonomic friendly than some of the other brands I've seen out there, and I think this one's gonna hold up really, really well. Now I can tell you, one thing that gets replaced a lot on any weight distribution system is this pin assembly, and that's because people just forget them, unfortunately. So make sure you're double checking. Make sure you have everything pinned up before you leave on your trip. And whenever you get to your campsite, make sure you're storing everything as well so you're not forgetting anything. I'll go ahead and put that back over here. Now this, obviously, has been made from a high strength steel, and it does have a nice powder coat black finish on it so you don't have to worry about rust or corrosion or anything like that anytime soon. So again, folks, whether you're heading to the campground for the weekend or hauling gear across the country, the Weigh Safe True Tow Lightweight Distribution System is gonna be a great option for you. And if you don't wanna do the install yourself, you're not sure how to do it or you just don't wanna tackle something like this, don't need to worry, we got your covered. We've got trusted etrailer installers around the nation. You can scroll down beneath this video or on the product page to our installer locator tool, type in some information such as your zip code and other things. And based on your location, we'll get you teamed up with one of those install locations. Folks, that's gonna wrap up our quick look together. Again, make sure you're on the right page for the right drop that you're looking for. I'm Steven. Thanks for watching.

Your set up looks great, Justin! I'm happy to hear that Tiffani was there to help you out with everything that you needed. Have you taken your camper to any fun destinations yet with the Weigh Safe system on it now?

I’m a bit surprised to hear that, Caleb. I’ve personally installed quite a few of these, and I’ve been impressed with how well the Weigh Safe system performs. This makes me think there may be something else going on. Do you know your trailer’s total loaded weight and your loaded tongue weight? Ideally, tongue weight should be around 10–15% of the total trailer weight. If the trailer isn’t loaded correctly, even the best weight distribution hitch won’t be able to fully control sway.

I’ve now towed twice across the United Statesin all kinds of wind and weather. I like that I can measure and keep an eye on the rouge weight. We haul a 33’ ORV Blackstone which has a GVWR of 11,000 and we average around 9,840, with a tongue weight of 1500 due to the trailers wheel base design is long being a rear kitchen unit. On my F250 I can have a GCWR of 21,800 and Max Payload of 3,233. The truck handles the trailer quite well. That said the hitch also works well 90 of the time. No problem with hills and backing, or passing Semis. I due wish there was a bit more control in heavy side winds I experience traveling primarily north and south in the fall. We travel from Western NY in September to Michigan, then south to the Carolinas, and across country to Yuma Arizona over a couple months, then North into Montana and then again back to NY. The hitch is a beast and its heaver capacity over my old hitch is a definite improvement. I do recommend the hitch but be totally aware of your vehicles tow capacity and limitations.

I like this hitch but it is very heavy, the head weights 70 pounds by itself so if you have a bad weak back, this probably isnt the hitch for you. I do recommend getting a hitch connecting tool, it attaches to the ball and assists ing into the truck receiver.

Hey George, we definitely understand the frustration with the app compatibility and difficulty reaching support for assistance. The good news is the hitch does not rely on the app to function. The gauge and weight distribution system are mechanical, so you can still set it up correctly without the app. The method to set it up the traditional way: Measure the front wheel well height before hooking up Hook up the trailer Tighten the WDH until the front suspension returns close to unloaded height That restores proper front axle weight and gets the hitch adjusted correctly regardless of what the app says. Let me know if this helps.
