Ellen: Hey, everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the Deka Battery Terminal Spreader. So this allows you to take a battery terminal clamp, put that over the end here, and then adjust it to fit over your battery posts. It also helps to eliminate the need to come in contact with that battery post and getting any kind of corrosive material on your hands. Battery acid's not really fun to have on your bare skin, so it's going to help to eliminate that. The way it works, just place that battery terminal over there, spread it out with this.
Give you some measurements to know about how big this is going to be. At the base, from side to side, it's about three quarters of an inch across, but at the top it's about half an inch. Whenever we have this all the way expanded, the base, it's about an inch, maybe an inch and an eighth. The top, it looks like it's about seven eighths of an inch across. So should help you get everything spread out anywhere in between that half inch up to an inch and an eighth. The ends do have a rubber coating to help give you a little bit more grip.
Again, also protect your hands from the metal. Really, it's just so that it's a little bit more ergonomic to hold onto rather than just gripping onto the bare metal there. And also, if it's happens to be cold outside, it's always better to grip onto something more rubbery rather than that straight metal piece. As far as overall length, just to see if this will fit into your toolbox or maybe a glove compartment, it's about seven and three quarter inches long. Overall, total length of the spreader here is about an inch and a half.Well, that's going to do it for our look at the Deka Battery Terminal Spreader.
Thanks for watching.
I have an ancient battery terminal spreader and this one is made exactly like mine. There is enough looseness in the pin of the fulcrum to feel sloppy; typical of this item. With two working buildings I work toward having a full set of specialty tools in each building to minimize walking back and forth for tools. I'm perfectly happy with this, and the seller had great communcation, one of the better prices around, and the tool arrived quickly.
