When towing pushes your truck's brakes harder, you want a brake you can feel. These low-metallic brake pads deliver a strong initial bite with a bed-in coating for quicker break-in, giving you an immediate response when it matters most.
The first thing many people notice while towing is how much harder their truck has to work to stop. More weight means your brakes have to absorb more heat and manage greater braking forces with every stop. Suspension enhancements can improve ride quality, stability, and control under load, but they don't give your brakes any additional stopping power. Timbren Brake Enhancement System brake pads focus on that missing piece, using a severe duty low-metallic friction formula that delivers a stronger initial bite and more consistent braking when towing pushes your factory brakes harder.
Heavy trailers and loaded trucks can expose the limits of standard brake pads, especially during sudden stops or repeated braking. The extra weight keeps moving forward after you press the pedal, which can make the truck feel slower to respond and leave you wondering whether you gave yourself enough room. These pads use a low-metallic friction formula that grabs quickly as soon as you apply the brakes, giving you braking you can feel the moment you press the pedal. That response matters when traffic stops abruptly, a vehicle pulls out ahead of you, or the trailer starts pushing harder than expected. They won't change the laws of physics, but they do give your truck a more immediate and predictable braking response during hard stops. The friction material also resists fade as heat builds, helping maintain smooth, consistent braking through repeated stops. Premium multi-layer vulcanized rubber shims help absorb the added vibration that can come with a high-bite pad, reducing squealing and chatter without dulling the response you bought them for.
Many high-performance brake pads are designed around lighter vehicles, spirited driving, or track use. These are not. Timbren brake pads have been field-tested in towing, utility, municipal, off-road, and fleet applications where heavy loads, repeated stops, and higher brake temperatures are simply part of the job. Their severe duty formula delivers the strong initial bite associated with performance brakes while handling the added weight and heat that come with pulling a camper, boat, equipment trailer, or other heavy load. Designed for front wheel applications, depending on your vehicle, they give towing-focused drivers a practical upgrade made for the way their truck is actually used.
Brake performance depends on more than the friction material. If the shape, thickness, or density changes from one pad to the next, the way each pad contacts the rotor can change too, leading to uneven wear, inconsistent pedal feel, and braking that does not feel the same from one wheel to another. Positive mold manufacturing compresses each pad evenly inside precision-machined molds under high pressure and heat, creating consistent density and precise dimensions. That consistency helps every pad contact the rotor the same way, producing more predictable pedal feel and more even braking.
New brake pads need time to transfer an even layer of friction material onto the rotor before they reach their intended braking performance. Timbren's brake pads include a bed-in coating, a thin friction layer applied to the pad surface that helps speed up the break-in process. The result is better pedal feel right after installation and less time waiting for your brakes to reach full performance, so you spend less time breaking in new pads. Changing brake pads is a job many experienced DIYers can handle, but brakes are one of those projects where being almost right is still wrong. If you'd rather leave it to a pro, find an installer near you.

Hi, I'm Daniel at etrailer, and today I'm here with John from Timbren. And Timbren's been known for their suspension enhancement setups for trucks for a long time now. But now you're branching out into brake pads and rotors. Can you tell me a little bit more about them Yeah, we're really excited to introduce our brake enhancement system. It's a kitted program, so you can get a front axle set, two rotors, set of pads, or a rear axle set. Of course, all parts are available as individual components.
One thing you'll notice immediately is this black coating. This is a exclusive coating for us. We call it OnyxBond. And then you'll also notice these blue shims and our pads, and the pad material in here is a low swing metallic, and we call it OnyxBite. So can you tell me a little bit more about who this is going to be for and why it's better than your OEM brakes- Yeah.
On your truck Yeah, absolutely. This is for the truck owner who is using the truck as intended. They're towing, they're hauling, they're doing both. So heavy loads, that is the ideal customer for this. And that's our focus.
We're doing Ford, GMC, Chevy, Ram, and Toyota. So very limited skews focused on that neighbor, that consumer. The upgrade, you know, again, you look at this black coating, that's an upgrade from the coatings that the OEs use. Very, very resistant to salt. So many seasons in St.
Louis weather, Chicago weather, anywhere they're putting salt on a road, this is very, very durable. And then with the friction material, again, we chose a low sewing metallic formula versus some of the other formulas out there such as ceramic because of the heat capability with this. It's able to handle a lot of heat, basically eliminating brake fade. Over here on this GMC truck, we have your new rotors and pads installed. Right. Can you tell me a little bit more about maybe the installation process and kind of the wear we're seeing here Sure, yeah, it's a simple install because they are always sized, so it'll fit with existing rims, tires, factory calipers, factory brake lines. So very easy install. And correct, the rotor is completely coated with our OnyxBond, but once it's on and driven, this has been driven just a little bit. This coating will completely wear away. And then the hat, the edges and the cooling veins are all still protected against corrosion. So that's totally normal with that wear there. And then the kits also include all the hardware for the pads, which is on this back side here. Hardware, brake lubricant as well. And then wear applicables, not on this application is padwear sensors. So those will be included as well. So some of the higher trim levels offer that, so it's ready to go right out of the box. Also, it is sold in kit form, so a pair of rotors, so a front, left and right in a set of pads or a rear, or you can order a four reel kit, two SKUs. Or if a neighbor is just interested in the pads only or the rotors, absolutely they can order just rotors or just pads. That way if they damage a rotor, they can just get one, they're not having to get the whole kit. Correct, right. Rotors and pads are consumable products. So yes, you'll typically go through pads more frequently than rotors. So yes, etrailer has these available to purchase individually as well. I appreciate you coming in and giving us some more information about your premium brake pads and rotors. And if you're willing to install this at home, it's gonna be very similar to any brake job you've ever done. If you don't have these hammer tools, you can check out our installer locator and we can find an installer local to you to help you get this installed for you. But other than that, let's go to look at the new Timbren brake pads and rotors. Thanks John. Appreciate it. I really appreciate you coming in. No, thank you. Thanks.

Thanks for the photo Isaac! The Timbren brake systems are very new to us but we've gotten great feedback so far and expect them to perform and hold up well. Let us know!
