Video Transcript for Camco RV Water Heater Temperature and Pressure Relief Valve Review

Hi there RV and camper owners. Today, we're going to be taking a look at Camco's water pressure relief valve. This water pressure relief valve has a half inch inlet and outlet, and is designed to protect your pipes in your trailer or RV from an over pressure or an over temperature condition. The relief valve is set at 150 psi. So in the event that the outlet of your water heater is exceeding that, the valve will open and it will dump that excess pressure out through the hose that we've routed down underneath our RV. You will have to purchase the additional hose and potentially an adapter to get it attached to get it all set up, but you can get those at your local hardware store. In addition to protecting your system from an overpressure condition, it also protects it from temperature.

There's a four-inch probe that comes off of it to detect temperature, and it's designed to relieve any excess pressure once it hits about 210 degrees Fahrenheit, because at 212 degrees, that's when boiling occurs. And once the water starts to boil, pressure is going to rise very drastically. So it wants to stop that from occurring before it gets there. While many of the tank water heaters have relief valves made into them, a lot of your tankless units don't. And if you just replace one and you don't have a relief valve, you really want to add one to your system as a safety precaution. In the event you didn't have one, once the pressure gets to a certain point, your pipes can only hold so much pressure, and at that point they're going to burst.

And you don't want hot water bursting out potentially on you or on any of the items in your trailer or RV. On this particular trailer here, we just got done removing the tank water heater and replacing it with this tankless unit, which is going to be more efficient and it's also going to ensure that they never run out of hot water unlike that tank unit which would runs out usually after one person takes a shower. With this, we did have to buy a couple of additional components. A T here to put it in line with the outlet for the hot water. But once it was installed, at this point now we are protected from over pressure and over temperature for our system so we don't have to worry about any expensive repairs in the future or anybody getting a potential burn from over pressure or over temperature. The metal has an epoxy coating on it, which is going to protect it against corrosion so you can have long lasting operation of your valve.

When installing this on many of your metal to metal contexts, you do want to use some thread tape to ensure it seals. You can get some Valterra thread tape here at etrailer.com. And that completes our look at Camco's water pressure relief valve.

Haven't ever had it trip in use, I flip it manually after every camping trip to release any remaining pressure.

4" probe is not compatible with the Fogatti RV Tankless Water Heater we purchased, I added a 2-1/2" riser to the heater to make this work. (Parts for my camper aren't available locally (closest RV repair is 100 miles away, and they always have to order anything I need) no local plumbing service had anything shorter either and needed this repair completed the day it arrived).

The water heater works great. Now we can take a shower without running out of hot water

Carol and the whole Group at etrailer were fantastic to deal with. Being a newby to the RV world, everyone was extremly helpful and understanding. Even when i had a manufacturer issue with a part they stayed on the manufacturer until THEY got satisfaction, how many companies are out there that will stand behind thier products like that? My experience has created a customer for life and a moving billboard at that :)

by:

Easy install, perfect fit, and for those campers, you better consider replacing the hot water pressure gauge on the tank, even if it looks okay. I replaced mine from etrailer.com

  • Does the Camco Temperature and Pressure Relief Valve Remover Work with an Atwood Mixing Valve
No, the Camco Temperature and Pressure Relief Valve Remover # CAM10552 would not work with the Dometic Water Heater Mixing Valve - Atwood XT - 90029. The valve remover # CAM10552 works with temperature and pressure relief valves like the Camco RV Water Heater Temperature and Pressure Relief Valve # CAM10423. Your Dometic Water Heater Mixing Valve - Atwood XT - 90029 is a mixing valve and from what I could find, has an entirely different appearance/set-up.

A pressure relief valve is necessary for the Fogatti RV Tankless Water Heater - Gas - Automatic Pilot - 41,800 Btu - Black, part # LSB44FR, per the instructions and in accordance with ANSI standards. It appears this tankless water heater only comes with an included pressure relief valve on the Canadian model. • Tankless Hot Water Heater for a 2018 Keystone Hideout
While we likely have an option for you, there is no document or anything that tells us what size cutout or style of water heater you currently have. I am assuming when you say "instant" you mean tankless hot water heater. The Fogatti RV Tankless Water Heater # LSB44FR is a great option that uses gas to heat and fits a cutout that is 13" wide x 13" tall x 17-3/4" deep. You would also need the Camco RV Water Heater Temperature and Pressure Relief Valve # CAM10423 for insallation. If you...

  • How to Fix a 3" Gap Surrounding New Water Heater After Install
If you can believe it the Fogatti RV Tankless Water Heater - Gas - Automatic Pilot # LSB64FR is actually the largest water heater we offer. The overall dimensions of the unit are 14-3/8" long x 15" wide x 15" tall which is closer to what you're needing but we aren't going to have anything that matches directly. What you could do is get some lumber from your local home improvement store and use it to fill the gap and give the new water heater something to mount to.

I recommend replacing your Atwood G6A-7SPK with the Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater # FR98SR as the control valve for your water heater is no longer available. • Is Additional Wiring Required When Switching From a Gas Only Water Heater With Pilot to DSI?
A water heater like the Dometic RV Water Heater # DMC74FR that has a DSI system will not require additional wiring for just the DSI. A DSI and non DSI water heater will have 12 volt power that goes to operate the thermostats and DSI board for those models. This particular water heater does have a 120 volt electric heating element as well as control switch for both. You would need the additional wiring for the control switches and 120 volt connection if you do not already have them.

For the Fogatti RV Water Heater # LSB64FR, overall dimensions are 14-3/8L x 15W x 15D. The access door is 14-15/16" H x 14-15/16" W. • Tankless Water Heater Replacement Recommendation for Atwood G6A-7
Based on the size cutout dimensions it sounds like you have the better option for a tankless water heater to replace your Atwood G6A-7 would be the Furrion part # FR68SR which has overall dimensions of 12-5/8" wide x 12-5/8" tall x 19-1/4" deep so it would easily work great in place of your Atwood. LaSalle Bristol sent you a Water Heater Temperature and Pressure Relief Valve # CAM10423 which is why the it came with a 4"probe. We can't recommend attempting to relieve a water tank pressure without a valve like the Camco RV Water Heater Temperature and Pressure Relief Valve - 1/2" Valve w/ 4" Probe, part # CAM10423. The water pressure would most likely be somewhere around 150 psi and very hot.
