The hitch arrived incredibly fast and in perfect shape. The directions in the box are not as helpful as the etrailer directions/video. I would suggest using that. I had a friend help put this in and the only issue we had was similar to others. The front two bolts do not come through the frame as easily as the back ones. It seems like the lock plate gets spun around fairly easily in the frame rail so we had to start over. Otherwise the install worked great and it looks good on the Escape. If you kick just to the right or left of the hitch opening, the hands free lift gate seems to work just fine.
Drilling out the access holes with a file bit took about 5 min. each side. Fishing the bolts and washers through the frame was easier than I thought. The difficult part was getting the bolts through the holes in the hitch. The holes closest to the rear of the vehicle weren't bad but the back ones were brutal. The last one required me to remove the wheel for better access. But I got it on and I'm pleased with how it looks. And my bike rack fits perfectly.
Install this unit on my 2013 escape took about a half of a hour. I am a 62 year old and it was very easy for even me. Great looking easy to install would recommend , etrailer.com got it here fast, even at one of the business shipping times of year thank you etrailer.com
The trailer hitch receiver and bike rack I ordered shipped immediately and received within three days plus the weekend. The directions were easily followed, the pieces all fit, and no parts were damaged. I was very pleased with the timeliness, condition, install, and construction. I was not sure about the order, but am very pleased now and will recommend e-trailer. Make sure to read installation before purchase so you know what your vehicle requires.
Great hitch, looks good installed. Shipping speed was good, it would be nice if they would fold cardboard over the sharp edges of the hitch, the plastic tore and some of the paint was scratched off.

Fourth hitch over several yrs, I'm now 79yrs old purchased a 2014 Escape Ford, no problems what so ever , I move a little slower now it took me one hr + for installation including wiring harness. Firmly recommended.
The hitch is great & installed in about 45 minutes. However, the packaging left a lot to be desired. When I got home, the package was on my porch. The box was open in several places & part of the hitch was sticking out. I was glad to see all parts & instructions were taped to the hitch, otherwise would have probably been lost.
This was easy to install and the folks at etrailer were easier to work with.

Perfect hitch. No rust!
Fairly straight forward install. You need to enlarge the access holes to feed the bolts, but that was expected. All I had was a Dremel to enlarge the holes, so it took a little bit longer. Having a die grinder will save you a lot of time. Everything lined up good and only four bolts to tighten. Good clearance from the exhaust and very happy. Make sure to read the instructions!
Went on my 2013 Ford Escape with minimal problems.
instructions warned of tight fit for front bolt on passenger side, and was true. May have been easier if I removed the wheel and wheel arch.
I did the job alone ... used a motorcycle lift and some 2x4's to lift it to install. Be aware you need a die grinder to open a hole up to get bolt in.
Wire snakes provided to pull bolts in worked GREAT.
Product arrived packaged well with no damage. Installation took about 1.5 hours due to installing alone. Would not suggest installing alone unless you have mechanical experience/rigging/lifting. A uni drill bit works very well for enlarging hole.
The hitch is easy to put on. I done it on the ground by my self. The wiring is a little tricky. The power wire that goes to the battery,I ran mine down the outer frame rail and up behind the drivers front fender well to the battery to keep it away from all the heat.
Excellant directions. Installation did take about 1.5 hours as it took me awhile to realize that the ears that mount to the frame had been bent during shipping. Good quick service, quality and excellant appearance.

I still have it and I have pull multiple item with it and it works without problem and the price was just perfect and installation was easy comparing to others I really recommend this product to whom ever reads this review its really awesome no doubt
It went on easy, easy instructions, looks great and was a fair price.
I would suggest getting a buddy to help you if you are doing it yourself, one to hold the hitch and one to thread the "bolt wires" through as you put it up.

Very easy installation. Took less than an hour from start to finish.
Fits great! Very easy to install. Need a small grinder to enlarge holes. Need two people to lift up to install location.
Good design, Good instructions, and it looks good and strong! But at 63 it took me 20 min. just to stretch out. So I think that 20 min install is for a younger guy!
