Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Blue Ox adjustable ball mount. This is going to slide right into your 2 1/2 inch by 2 1/2 inch trailer hitch receiver on your vehicle. It's gonna provide the two inch ball here for you to hook up to your trailer coupler. This does also have this 2 5/16 inch ball clamshell that will fit right over top of that two inch ball, so that you can accommodate a 2 5/16 inch coupler as well.
Both the ball and the clamshell are going to be a stainless steel construction, so they are gonna hold up really well for you. So, no matter what, which size coupler you're hooking up to, you'll have that same great option. They're both gonna have the same gross towing weight capacity, which is 12,000 pounds. So, either way, just gives you more options of being able to tow different trailers. And with different trailers comes different trailer heights, which is where our adjustable height setting comes in.
So, we'll be able to adjust our height here to accommodate those different trailer heights, make sure that they're gonna stay level as we're towing. Very simple to adjust. Just remove these clips here, and push out the pins. Then we can adjust the ball in that direction, or we can flip this over like so and adjust it like that. So, if we have it in our max rise here, obviously, we'd wanna put the pins in.
From the top inside the edge of our receiver tube, up to where the coupler is going to sit, our max rise is gonna be four inches. If we we're to flip this around and use it in the drop position, our max drop is gonna be four inches as well. So, we have 1 1/4 inch increments of adjustment. So, that will accommodate a wide variety of trailer heights to make sure that your trailer's gonna be nice and level as you're towing down the road, which is obviously very important for making sure that everything's riding properly. The tires are gonna wear properly, and all that sort of important things that a trailer levelness brings.
This does have a black powder coat finish to help resist rust and corrosion. This is made here in the USA, so you can trust it's made it to the high quality standards that we've come to know and trust for products that are made here in the US. Also comes with a limited lifetime warranty. And they include this standard 5/8 inch pin and clip to secure the ball mount to your hitch receiver. So, everything you're gonna need to just put right into your 2 1/2 inch hitch receiver. Hook up to either a two inch ball or 2 5/16 inch ball, coupler. So, that completes our look for today. Item arrived in a timely manner and looks great. I haven’t hooked up a trailer but the adjustability and the clamshell adapter look very promising.

Great ball mount that is fully adjustable in 1" increments.
I love the product. Love Etrailer. Unfortunately, the product came with damage. There was not enough damage for me to return it, but it was dropped. The paint was chipped, and the drop pins didn't seem to operate correctly.
My kid has used it an works as should.
Great hitch. Super heavy duty and quickly adaptable from 2" to 2-5/16" with the clamshell.
Needed an adjustable heavy duty hitch for several different trailers I use, this one was worth the extra money, easy to adjust. Had bent cheaper hitches in the past. And would replace with the 2” version if I ever go back to a half ton truck
Great drop hitch. Clamshell is a great idea for quick interchangeability. Cotter pins to adjust the ball up and down that come with hitch are not so great. The cotter pin fell out and the whole second pin was missing before I noticed. Easily replaced with better, and no issues since.
Nicely built and sharp looking. Haven’t used yet sure it tows just fine. 3 stars as Blue Ox for this price should have used locking pins both on receiver portion and adjustable ball mount. Now I have to buy the locking pins as extras and I’ve been seeing competitors that do provide the appropriate pins at comparable prices.

Great product, used with varying trailers with different hitch heights. The square tubing that slips into the receiver could be a couple of inches longer to better position a mud flap holder, especialy for stock Duramax exhaust. It does work OK.
