If you want your setup to blend in when you’re not towing, this design hits the mark. The hidden base plate keeps the front end looking clean and seamless, and the brackets won’t protrude past the front of your vehicle. When the removable arms are off, the included receiver covers plug into the openings to block out dirt and debris and give it a finished look.

Getting connected is simple with the twist-lock attachment system. Each arm slides into the receiver, rotates to lock in place, and secures with a pin. When it’s time to disconnect, pull the pin, turn the arm, and lift it out. It’s quick and smooth whether you’re setting up at home or breaking down camp.

This base plate bolts directly to your chassis with no welding required. The sturdy steel frame spreads towing force evenly across your vehicle’s structure to help reduce strain on suspension points during long-distance towing. The powder-coated finish resists rust and corrosion, so it stays strong through years of use.
The sturdy lugs pair directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a tight, reliable connection every time you tow. It’s also adaptable for use with Roadmaster tow bars using adapter RM-031 or RM-031-5 (sold separately), and with Demco tow bars using adapter DM9523041 (sold separately). Integrated mounting points make it easy to attach an electrical connector plug bracket up front to keep your wiring neat and accessible.
Specs are dialed in for balanced performance—distance between brackets is 24" and bracket height is 14". The bolt-on design includes all required mounting hardware for a straightforward install that doesn’t require welding. Once installed, it delivers a strong, clean front end that’s ready for thousands of miles of confident flat towing.

I am glad you were able to get it installed with no issues and a little help from our video! What kind of coach are you pulling the Kia Soul with?

Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Thanks for the detailed review Chris, and the pointers! This will be most helpful to others. What was your favorite stop in those 7,000 miles? Where did you go, what did you see?

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.

It has been a good system. I would still give it 4 stars a year later just because it was a difficult job to install. Not for the faint of heart. So far have about 6k miles of towing with it. Would I do it again….Yes as it was worth the effort.
