When you’re carrying tools, camping gear, or valuables, you need real protection—not fabric. The RetraxPRO MX uses impact-resistant, 1" thick aluminum slats that lock down tight to keep your cargo safe from both weather and theft. Close the cover and latch it at any point along the rails to conceal items in the front of the bed while leaving space for longer loads in back. When locked in conjunction with the tailgate, this setup makes it nearly impossible to pry open or cut through.
Some covers bind or need constant adjustment. The RetraxPRO MX glides along sealed ball-bearing rollers that don’t need lubrication, so it opens easily with one hand using the pop-up handle. The spiral track system guides the cover into the canister without rubbing against itself, preventing wear over time. You can stop it anywhere along the rails for partial coverage or roll it all the way in for full bed access in seconds.
Rain, snow, and dust can ruin whatever’s in your bed. This cover seals tight on all sides with weather stripping and foam seals that conform to the bed rails and overlap the top of the tailgate. Any water that gets into the canister is routed out through two built-in drain tubes, keeping the stored cover dry and mildew-free. The result is dependable protection through every season.
From the 500 lb evenly distributed weight rating to the scratch-resistant matte black finish, this cover is made to take abuse without losing its sleek look. The aluminum panels resist dents and fading even after years in the sun or under heavy snow. The low-profile rails sit just 1" above the bed for a clean, streamlined appearance that doesn’t get in the way.
Installing the RetraxPRO MX doesn’t require drilling or complicated adjustments. The pre-assembled cover drops in place and clamps onto the bed rails using bolt-on clamps. Today we're going to be taking a look at the RetraxPro MX Hard Tonneau Cover in matte black. You can upgrade your old tonneau cover and not have to worry about any snapping or hook and loop connections. The RetraxPro MX Hard Tonneau Cover is the best way to cover up your truck bed. One of it's great features is, it can be locked anywhere along the rails you please. It's perfect for keeping your gear dry, covering up that fifth wheel head and you can even use it to secure your elongated cargo. The latch itself doubles as a handle. When you're ready to lock it, it sits flush within the cover and you can lock it up with the included keys.
When you've done that you can put the cover over top. The whole thing rolls up into the flush mounted box for a low profile design. It only takes up about 12 inches of space behind your cab. It's a simple clamp on installation and the rails only sit about an 1-1/4" high on top of our truck bed rails. Here on the inside they take up about 1-3/4". The sealed ball bearing rollers within the cover make opening and closing easy.
And because they're sealed, they're maintenance free. The whole thing is made out of an industrial strength aluminum, it's gonna keep out the elements and it can support distributed loads of up to 500 pounds. When used with the locking tailgate, it's furthers your security. The whole thing is UV protected and it features a limited lifetime warranty. After about a year owning this cover, I still would buy it again. If you set it up right in the first place, it will work flawlessly. The locking mechanism still works great. The rolling part still works great. Aside from a solid cover, this is the most secure cover I have ever had. It does get some drips of water inside after washing the truck but its not enough to worry about, even if you had a bed full of stuff.

So on the plus side, love how it opens all the way up. When were loading the bed for travel, I need it fully open. Downside is the amount of room the canister takes up and the water as previously mentioned. Still quite easy to use!
