Today we're going to be taking a look at part number C83780. This is the Curt Heavy Duty D-Ring Tie Down. The heavy duty steel d-ring is going to create a stable tie down point in your trailer or truck bed. This is going to provide the attachment point that you need for securing ropes, straps, or bungees. You're going to get the mounting bracket and the ring. This is a weld-on installation.
It's made from a forged steel construction, very strong and durable, and it's going to have a raw steel finish. When it comes to the maximum load or brake strength rating, that's going to be at 46,760 pounds. We're going to take a few dimensions real quick, starting here with the ring. If we take a measurement of the width going this direction, outside edge to edge, we're looking at about 5 inches. Going this direction, outside edge to outside edge, it's closer to 6 inches. The thickness is going to be 1 inch.
When it comes to the internal measurements going this direction we're looking at about 4 inches, and going this direction, inside edge to inside edge, it's going to be about 2 and 7/8 of an inch. The bracket, this is going to be the piece that gets welded, measuring this direction, outer edge to outer edge, we're looking at about 2 and 1/4, about 2 and 5/16 of an inch, right in that area. Going this way, outer edge to outer edge, 2 and 1/8 of an inch. From the bottom to the top we're looking at about 1 and 3/4 of an inch. This piece would get welded down. You can see with it fully installed, you will be able to bring it up, make your connection as needed, but it will fold down either side of the bracket.
That way when it's not being used it's going to lay flat and it's really not going to take up much space when the tie down's not being used. That's going to do it for our review of part number C83780. This is the Curt Heavy Duty D-Ring Tie Down with a brake strength rating of 46,760 pounds. .
