Westin's R5 nerf bars make the trip from your vehicle's door to the ground a smooth transition. The bars' straight-style design and squared edges offer a rugged look, and the 5" width provides greater stability than narrower round bars.

Concealed mounting bracket cover on a Westin R5 step bar

Injection-molded covers conceal the mounting brackets used to install the step bars for a seamless, from-the-factory appearance.

Oversize step pads allow you and your passengers to safely step out of your vehicle. The grooves in the UV-resistant, injection-molded polymer pads provide traction and direct water away from the surface of the bars to help prevent slipping.

No need to worry about rust on these nerf bars. Not only are they constructed of durable, rustproof black powder coated aluminum, but the black molded plastic endcaps also keep out moisture to help prevent internal corrosion.

Installing the bars is easy. A mounting kit is included, featuring custom brackets that bolt onto existing holes in your vehicle's rocker panels - no drilling necessary.

Super easy to install. The aluminum was a little thinner than what I was expecting and they hang a little lower that what I was hoping. They look great on the truck, super easy to install and seem to be pretty sturdy. So far worth 5he money.

2023 GMC Sierra 2500

The running boards are just what I wanted. The issues that I had are that The installation instructions did not say that they would fit 2023 GMC, but they did. I was also missing one nut for the install that I had to purchase else ware. They are good boards, the company just needs to improve quality control.

Overall happy with these. Very easy to install, sturdy, and happy I chose aluminum. Only knock I have is after one year the paint on the steel mounting brackets is not holding up. Will need to repaint these.

The bracket covers installed with my Westin R5 Nerf Bars don't look that great on my 2025 Tundra, too large of a gap between nerf bar and truck frame. The poor fit diminishes the final appearance. Also, the holes on the covers seemed a little misaligned so much that when installing, the installation instructions didn't match reality.

2023 Dodge Ram Pickup

Chose them because it looked like they were a little lower step than others and that is the case. Love the lower step height and it does not affect vehicle clearance (Ram 1500). Very nice looking solidly built nerf bars.

Quality material and construction. The assembly is nicely engineered. While the cost is substantially more than an “Amazoner,” if you want quality and plan to keep your truck, I think the quality and ease of install makes this a good choice. Definitely my recommendation.

Hey Rocha! The best running boards for your 2023 Ford Explorer are going to be the Westin R5 Nerf Bars item # W68NR in Black or item # W48NR in Stainless. These 5" custom fit running boards come with included hardware that does not require drilling to install. The curved pads are formed to the tubing to prevent damage to the ends of the bars. While we do have a variety of nerf bars/running boards that fit your 2022 Ford Explorer, currently (January 2022) Westin doesn't have a fit listed for the Sure Grip boards and your vehicle. Out of the linked selection we have a few options that might interest you. If you want to stick with Westin then I recommend checking out the R5 Nerf Bars # W68NR because they have more of a square look like the Sure-Grip running boards.
