Features to know about

Built for Heavy Loads and Long Trips: 3,050-lb Capacity at 90 psi

When you’re towing long distances or carrying heavy gear, this steel wheel is ready for the job. The Dexstar 16" x 6" rim is rated for 3,050 lbs at 90 psi and meets Department of Transportation standards. The 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern and 1/2"-20 wheel bolts provide a solid, consistent connection for confident highway use without compromise on strength or safety.

Rust Protection that Lasts: White Powder Coat Over E-Coat Primer

Corrosion can ruin a wheel in no time if it’s not protected. This one uses a two-step defense—a tough e-coat primer topped with a white powder coat finish—that seals out moisture and road salt. It’s the kind of finish that stays looking clean while guarding against rust year after year.

Even Load Distribution for Smoother Towing: Zero Offset Design

Too much offset can throw off balance and put extra stress on your bearings. The Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel keeps things centered with a 0 offset, so the mounting surface sits right in line with the wheel’s center plane. That equalizes load across the hub for steadier tracking and smoother towing over long stretches of road.

Proven Fit and Strength in a Common Size: 16" x 6" Rim, 6 on 5-1/2" Pattern

Finding parts that fit right shouldn’t be complicated. This wheel uses the popular 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern with a 4.27" pilot diameter and fits standard valve stems like part # AM20906. Pair it with compatible trailer tires—such as ST235/85R16 radials—for dependable performance that holds up to real-world hauling demands.

Determining Bolt Pattern

1. Count the lug holes

Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).

Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug

2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.

Center to Center
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"

2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).

Center to Outside Edge
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Can't say enough good about this company. Their followup communication is tops. Shipping was extemely fast, even though I used the cheapest method (they upgraded me for free). I have, and will continue to buy from etrailer.com!

The products I ordered was a replacement steel wheel and valve stem for my RV. Have not had any problems with them. Very pleased with products and with service from etrailer. Will do business with them again.

by:

A quality trailer rim. My trailer came with 15 inch wheels an so i was limited to a low rating for weight capacity. These rims were cheap yet true and a good weight rating.

Wheel works great as expected. Fast shipping and quality products!

Product is working Great after a year of heavy use.

by:

Perfect upgrade to the 15" tires on my 5th wheel. Now I have a large selection for tires. I ordered valves stems too, but the wrong size (hole size). Probably my fault, but it would have been nice to be warned about the size difference. No big deal - valve stems are located all over, but the deal on these wheels are not. Thanks!

by:

These wheels are an outstanding bargain and were shipped and received at my home in unbelievable time frame. This order is proof that this company is certainly # 1 in customer satisfaction! Great company with can do attitude employees!

We offer a metal valve stem as part # AM20906, which Id recommend instead of the rubber valve stems.

by:

After careful consideration I purchased 5 16x6 Dexstar wheels for my enclosed car trailer. While installing the tires you could clearly SEE on the spin balancer that 2 of the rims "not tires" were out of round and required additional weight 3.75/2.25 to bring them into balance which is more than normal. I am uncertain of the factory tolerance however I would not recommend these wheels to a friend. If I had more time I would return. This was the reason I wanted to by wheels made in the USA and not ones made across the pond.

by:

As advertised, great price, quick free delivery for the 4 wheels. Converted my Arctic Fox Silver Edition from 15 inch to 16 inch LT225/75R16 E rated tires. Note, ST tires are not rated for more then 65 MPH. Most of us tow at that speed all day long and occasionally faster, risky with ST rated tires.

I recently discovered etrailer while searching for a specific steel spoke trailer wheel. Not only did they have the item I was looking for, but their selection was vast, and the prices were competitive. The website was easy to navigate, and the product descriptions were informative and accurate. I was pleasantly surprised by the fast shipping and the care they took in packaging my order. I’m thrilled with my purchase and will continue to shop at etrailer for all my needs.

by:

These rims are perfect for my project... not a trailer, but a 1978 Toyota LandCruiser FJ40. They have the perfect 70s spoke look that is period correct for the ride. I didn't have any trouble getting tires (E-Rated) mounted or balanced at the big tire chain. I've put nearly 3000 miles on them already with no issues. I chose these because they had the correct backspacing and bolt pattern for the application, no interference in the front on full wheel lock, left or right. The USA made quality is certainly there; the powder-coating was just as uniform through the center of the wheel (not seen when the tire is mounted)as it is on the outside surfaces, unlike some foreign made stuff I saw at local trailer stores. Highly recommend, even though most of you reading this need it for a trailer. I tried uploading a picture, but it just says "was unsucccessful to upload".

by:

When we installed them they look ed good. Have not heard of any problem from the customer.

by:

It's a great rim that matches my other spare. The paint looks very durable and should last a very long time.

by:

etrailer went above and beyond to help me get a wheel i needed in a very short period of time. etrailer associates kept me in the loop the whole shipping process to ensure i received it when needed. highly recommend them for your wheel purchases. It’s hard to find companies going above and beyond to help customers and etrailer certainly went above and beyond to help me in a desperate time of need. Thank you guys very much!

Product works great. Etrailer is truly one of a kind!

by:

These wheels and tires are excellent at least for my use. I would buy again.

by:

I put these on an old 2 wheel trailer to hold my portable welder. They’re doing the job well. Make the whole thing look better too!

by:

The wheel worked exactly as it should. Perfect fit for our trailer. We purchased it to have a second spare for long trips. It saved the day beside a busy windy highway.

  • Recommended Rim for a 245/75 R16 Light Truck Tire
We have wheels that work for you but the Dexstar # AM20741 isn't wide enough for your tires. A 245/75 R16 size tire needs at least a 6-1/2 inch wide rim. We carry a few 16 inch wheels that are that wide, such as # AM22657. You may be better off going with a 235/80 R16, like # TA39VR, which is basically the same diameter as the 245/75 R16 size. You will also have the benefit of a trailer tire with a thicker sidewall instead of the LT truck tires. Some LT tires are rated for trailer...

Hey Jo, yes your wheels will handle the additional air pressure. The limiting factor if anything will be the valve stem but most likely you have one that is rated high enough. We offer a 15 inch diameter by 6 inch wide white spoked wheel in a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern, part # AM20522, but none of our vendors offer a 16 inch wheel with that bolt pattern. Generally, 16 inch wheels are used on larger trailers that have heavier axles that use a different bolt pattern like 6 on 5-1/2 or 8 on 6-1/2.

Here is a list of our 16" steel trailer wheels which have the 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern. We will not have any wheels which have the 95.4mm pilot hole you are needing which should not likely be an issue since trailers will typically use a coned Lug Nut # CE11051 which lug centers the wheel rather than hub centering the wheel like several vehicles will require. If your trailer hub is hub centric and uses a Flange Nut # LI84FR you will need to have an centric ring adapter made to fit the wheels....

The tires that you have now, ST225/75R15, are 28.4 inches tall and 8 inches wide. The larger ST235/85R16 are 31.6 inches tall and 9.25 inches wide. You would need enough space all around the existing tires to use the larger size. Only half of the difference is applied towards the trailer from the sidewall and above the tire tread to a fender or trailer body. That means that you would need more than 1.6 inches above the tread and more than 0.625 inches between the sidewalls and the trailer...
