Corrosion can ruin a wheel in no time if it’s not protected. This one uses a two-step defense—a tough e-coat primer topped with a white powder coat finish—that seals out moisture and road salt. It’s the kind of finish that stays looking clean while guarding against rust year after year.
Too much offset can throw off balance and put extra stress on your bearings. The Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel keeps things centered with a 0 offset, so the mounting surface sits right in line with the wheel’s center plane. That equalizes load across the hub for steadier tracking and smoother towing over long stretches of road.
Finding parts that fit right shouldn’t be complicated. This wheel uses the popular 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern with a 4.27" pilot diameter and fits standard valve stems like part # AM20906. Pair it with compatible trailer tires—such as ST235/85R16 radials—for dependable performance that holds up to real-world hauling demands.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at trailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Dexstar 16-inch by 6-inch White Spoke Steel Trailer Wheel with the 6 on 5-1/2-inch bolt pattern. Now, this wheel's a sturdy steel construction. It is an 8-spoke design wheel. And this wheel offers excellent corrosion resistance 'cause it uses a two-step finishing process, which will first include an e-coat primer and then a white powder coat finish over that. This is a high-quality wheel.
It does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation, specifications. Now, if you notice the center cap is not included. If you do want a center cap, we do sell those separately on our website. You do wanna make sure to get a center cap that'll have the same diameter as the pilot hole right here, 'cause when you do install that cap, the cap will go through the hole when you install it. Diameter on this pilot hole is 4.27 inches.
This wheel is made by Dexstar, which means it's made in the USA. A few dimensions we're gonna measure is the diameter and then the width. Now, on the diameter, when you measure the diameter, what you're gonna be measuring is inside to inside. And the reason you're doing that is when you put the tire on here, the tire beads are gonna seat right here. So the measurements you want is from tire, or bead seat to bead seat, so inside to inside.
So if we do our tape measure, you can see there's your 16-inch diameter. The width on just the wheel, same way, bead seat to bead seat, so inside to inside. Six inches wide. Now, the bolt pattern on this wheel is a 6 on 5 1/2-inch bolt pattern. And if you wanna measure that on a wheel that's an even number of lugs, like in this case, six, it's pretty easy because if you notice the lug holes are directly across from each other.
So what you wanna do is, when you go to measure it, all you have to do is put your ruler from, pick any hole, let's say this one, measure from the center of that hole directly across to the center of the hole right across from it. On this, it'll measure 5 1/2 inches, so it's a 6 on 5 1/2-inch bolt pattern. It does use a wheel lug size of 1/2-inch by 20, and the weight capacity on this is 3,300 pounds. But that should do it for a look at this Dexstar 16-inch by 6-inch White Spoke Steel Trailer Wheel with the 6 on 5 1/2-inch bolt pattern.
