Features to know about

Built for Heavy Loads and Real Distance: Load Range E with 81-mph Speed Rating

This tire-and-wheel combo is made for serious towing. The Kenda Karrier ST235/80R16 radial tire carries a 3,500-lb maximum load at 90 psi and is rated for highway speeds up to 81 mph (speed rating M). Its double steel belts and full nylon plies give it the durability and stability that long hauls demand, so you can tow heavy and keep rolling mile after mile with confidence.

Corrosion Protection that Lasts: Black Powder-Coated Steel Wheel

Moisture, salt, and grime don’t stand a chance. The 16" x 6" spoked steel wheel has both an e-coat and a black powder coat finish that resists rust season after season. It looks sharp while standing up to the elements, making it a solid choice wherever your trailer sits or travels.

Smooth Handling and Long Tread Life: Radial Construction Advantage

The radial design of this tire reduces heat buildup and rolling resistance compared to bias ply styles. With cords set at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel, the tread flexes naturally for better steering response and longer wear. That means cooler running on the highway and steady traction in wet or dry conditions.

Mounted Strength That Meets DOT Specs: Ready When You Are

Every assembly meets Department of Transportation specifications for road use. The combination of a 16" diameter x 6" wide wheel, 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern, and Load Range E tire delivers 3,500 lbs of dependable capacity per wheel position. It’s built tough, balanced right, and ready to install so you can get back to towing without extra shop time.

Peace of Mind from Day One: 1-Year Worry-Free Guarantee

The included tire protection gives you one less thing to think about. If the tire is damaged in any way within the first 12 months, it will be replaced at no charge under the 1-Year Worry-Free Guarantee—solid support that matches its tough build on the road.

Determining Bolt Pattern

1. Count the lug holes

Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).

Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug

2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.

Center to Center
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"

2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).

Center to Outside Edge
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Video Transcript for Review of Kenda Trailer Tires and Wheels - Tire with Steel Wheel - KE58EV

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Kenda Karrier ST235/80R16 radial trailer tire in a load range E, and it's mounted on this 16 inch black spoke steel wheel with the eight on six and a half inch bolt pattern. Now the tire is a Kenda Karrier special trailer radial tire, it couples the strength of a bias tire with the durability and stability of a radial tire. It is an ST tire, which stands for special trailer tire. It is created specifically for trailers, it's not intended for use on other vehicles.

They do use double steel belts and full nylon plies which combine for superior function and long life. The tread is a nice computer generated tread design, and it offers premium rubber compound materials to give you superior traction in wet or dry conditions. Now, the tire size which will be stamped on the sidewall, down here by the wheel, it'll say ST for special trailer, 235/80R 16, R means it's a radial tire. Section width 9.4 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated is 30.9 inches.

The tire is a load range E, which means it's a 10-ply rated tire, so the maximum load capacity is 3,500 pounds at 90 PSI. And it does come with a speed rating and they do stamp that on the sidewall, but it is in a letter designation. And where you'll find that is right after the tire size, you'll see two numbers for the load index, and then the letter M. Speed rating M will mean 81 mile per hour speed rating. The wheel on it, you can see it's a multispoke steel wheel by Dexstar.

It does resist rust with the e-coat and then a black powder coat finish on the front and even on the back of the wheel. The dimensions on the wheel, the diameter, 16 inches, the width on just the wheel, six inches wide, the bolt pattern on this wheel is an eight on six and a half inch bolt pattern. And if you wanna measure that on a wheel that's an even number of lugs, in this case, eight, it's pretty simple because the lug holes are directly across from each other. So just pick one of the holes and measure from the center of that hole directly across to the center of the hole right across from it. On this, it'll measure six and a half inches, so it's an eight on six and a half inch bolt pattern.

It will use a wheel lug size of either 1/2 inch by 20 or 9/16 by 18. Now, this wheel does not come with the center cap. If you do want a center cap, we do sell those separately. You do wanna get a center cap that'll have the same diameter as this pilot hole, 'cause when you install it, it goes through the hole here. Diameter on this pilot hole is 4.9 inches, and the weight capacity on the wheel is 3 or 3,750 pounds. You do wanna remember that the maximum capacity of the combined tire and wheel assembly is 3,500 pounds. And this tire and wheel assembly does meet the DOT Department of Transportation specifications. But that should do it for a look at the Kenda Karrier ST235/80R16 radial trailer tire in a load range E mounted on this 16 inch black spoke steel wheel.

I ordered 5 each Kenda Karrier ST205/75R14, load range D, rim mounted tires. I received via UPS, 5 each Loadstar Karrier ST205/75R14 105/101M, load range D tires, well packed in a timely manner in good condition. DOT manufacture codes were from the first half of 2016. I hope that helps folks that wondered about the complete tire code. I don't understand why everybody is so stingy about publishing the complete tire code when it does in fact provide the MOST valuable comparison information.

I mounted the tire/rims to my 5 on 4 1/2 hubs, torqued the nuts to specs, and drove about 20 miles round trip to a truck scale to weigh my rig. Happly, with a partial load, I was 1200 lbs under my max load. The trailer pulled good and at this point I've very happy with the purchase, considering 14 inch, load range D tires are hard to come by.

My trailer is 10 years old, and it has seen about 4K miles of travel each year. The last few of years, I've had several blow outs, initially on a 4 year old set of load range C radials which I replaced in November of 2015 with a set of load range C bias ply tires. On my third 1000 (500 miles one way) mile run this spring, I had two blowouts, one coming and one going, on the passenger side. Inspection of the passenger side wheel well indicated there had been some rubbing. From day one the clearance between the top of the tire and the wheel well has be close, around 2 inches.

As a disclaimer, I've not been the best at keeping my speed down, made some modifications to the trailer that have added about 350 lbs to the base weight, and my wife loads heavy for our dry camping excursions. These factors have probably contributed to my blowouts. After the last blow out, I decided to take some more aggressive action: I upgraded the suspension with heavy duty springs, upgraded the tires to these LRD Karriers, have taken the decision to actively manage a light cargo pack, and when not rolling I'm taking most of the weight off the tires.

Hopefully, all my actions, and Importantly, the significant upgrade to load range D tires will solve my problems.

I have a pop-up camper that was converted to a utility trailer. The old rims were very rusty and I only found out when I went to install this new Kenda tire/rim combo that the old rims were bent/warped and difficult to remove from center bore. This new Kenda tire and rim combo makes my trailer look so much better! The rubber on these tires is very grippy, which I really like! My old, dry-rotted tires felt like plastic to the touch with no grip whatsoever. I used the etrailer website to learn how to properly measure the spacing between lugs to ensure I buy the right size. Shipping came super quick and all in one box. Tires were filled to the correct psi. I could not have been happier! I've since replaced the sides of the trailer with pressure treated wood, added 2 strips of 2"x 2"x6', 1/4" thick angle iron to the underside of the 2x8x8 plank flooring and used it to haul loam and crushed rock. All went super smooth and feels great to be able to use my utility trailer again!

Never used it but if you don't have one that's when you will get a flat tire. Customer service and shipping excellent.
Fits perfectly on the back of our camper.

by:

Unbelievable service. Have no idea how etrailer was able to get these two tires to me in about 18 hours. They were the exact tires I was looking for competitively priced and I didn't have to hunt around town looking for them. etrailer will absolutely be the first place I look when searching for other trailer products.

by:

It arrived fully aired up and I quickly swapped it onto my trailer to check for fitment and took it off and departed on my trip out west, I did not need to use it as a spare, but quick delivery, right size and peace of mind. will order a second one as well.

by:

wow easy ordering, fast delivery, free shipping, good communication with customer. will definitely order again no problem.

by:

Tires are much more substantial than the original tires. Appear sturdier and better able to handle highway travel.

by:

I wanted to update a small utility trailer so that I could Actually drive at freeway speeds. This wheel fit my trailer despite the extra quarter inch tire width. yes its closer to the trailer frame. Yes there is still plenty of clearance.

by:

4 stars because I haven't had them long. Excellent shipping time, great product out of the box. Wheels were quick to install and my PWC trailer was ready to go to the lake!

by:

Fast shipping, shipped securely, nice wheels and tires. Great company for your trailer parts and needs.

by:

Ordered a set of five for the tandem axle upgrade project. These are a good product, arriving in a good shipping box that had opposing handles to 'pour' the tire and wheel out easily. I am pleased to be able to order these assembled, aired up and ready to bolt onto the axles.

by:

Easy and fast process. We're excited to take the trailer out camping with new tires.

by:

Just wheels and tires, but they work perfectly and give me confidence.

by:

Looks great, packaged great, with etrailer having a great selection on their website, at competitive prices, with really fast shipping.

by:

It is a Radial tire 4 on 4 LR D.
I have
a popup camper with a heavy-duty tow hitch that I installed to accept a heavy duty bike rack. These new tires should work very well.

I have a Thule Easyline 205 utility trailer that was purchased in the early 2000s that needed the tires replaced and the wheels were still in good shape but rusting. I contacted local tire shops and was shocked by how expensive replacement tires of a much lower quality would be. After adding in new wheels to mount the tires on I decided to search the internet of other options. I found etrailer and could not be happier with the price and quality of the mounted tires and the wheels. They increase my confidence as they are rated for a higher speed with a greater weight capacity than the local shop offered. My trailer uses lug bolts instead of nuts and these wheels fit perfectly even though the center bore is slightly larger than the original wheels had. I got free shipping on them and they arrived 90 minutes before the scheduled delivery time in Oregon. Amazing that the can go from Missouri to Oregon and be delivered exactly on time. I will use etrailer again when I have additional needs…like new bearings.

by:

I bought this tire as a replacement spare to our trailer camper. etrailer had my exact tire when many others did not -and for a reasonable price. I liked all the specs & info provided on their webpage. It helped me know for certain that this tire fits my trailer. I especially liked their guidance on how to determine the bolt pattern - nice! Thanks etrailer.

Purchased 4 of these tires to replace the tires on a used travel trailer. The ones that came on the trailer were newer but were a brand I could not trace the origin of and could find zero manufacturer information. I was preparing for a 1000+ trip and didn't feel comfortable with the tires that came with my new-to-me trailer. After shopping around locally, these tires were less expensive than what I could get a comparable tire for (without rim) mounted at a local chain tire store.

The Kenda Karriers shipped fast from etrailer. They were mounted and inflated perfectly and it took my son and I about 30 minutes total to make the swap.

We made the trip about ~550 miles each way in 90+ heat. I gave the tires little thought other than a check or two during the trip when I thought about it. Zero issues. Very happy with this product and the purchase experience.

by:
