Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today I'm gonna take a look at this Goodyear Endurance ST235/80R16 radial trailer tire in a load range E, and it's mounted on this 16-inch Eagle black machined aluminum trailer wheel, has an 8-on-6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now this tire wheel assembly is ideal for RVs, stock trailers, utility trailers, and even campers. The wheel is an aluminum wheel. It's durable, lightweight, and rust proof. And we mentioned, it's an Eagle series, which you can see is an eight open-spoke design in a gloss black finish, with the machine finish on the face of the spokes.
Has a nice shine to the wheel. They do use an automotive-grade clear coat finish on the front to protect the wheel from scuffs and scratches. And what's nice about this wheel, one the nice features I like is right here in the lug nut wells, they do put steel inserts in there, they're pressed in, and that's designed to help keep the wheel securely in place on your trailer hub. Those steel inserts will prevent the holes from wearing down over time when you chock down your lug nuts. Eliminates the need for constant re-tightening of the lug nuts.
The wheel itself, the diameter is 16 inches. The width on just the wheel, seven inches wide. This wheel does have a boltt pattern of 8-on-6 1/2 inches. And if you wanna measure that on a wheel like this, it's an even number of lugs. In this case, eight.
It's pretty easy because if you notice, the lug holes are directly across from each other. So when you go to measure it, all you have to do is pick any hole. Let's say, this one. Measure from the center of this hole directly across to the center of the hole right across from it. On this, it'll measure 6 1/2 inches.
So that's gonna tell you it's an eight-lug, 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. It does use a wheel lug size of 1/2 inch by 20, or 9/16 by 18. And the weight capacity on just the wheel is 4,080 pounds. Now if you notice, it does not include a center cap. If you do want a center cap, we do sell those separate on our website. You do wanna make sure to get one that'll have the same diameter as this pilot hole. 'Cause when you install your center cap, it will fit into this hole. The diameter of this pilot hole is 4.88 inches. Now the tower we mentioned, it's a Goodyear Endurance radial tire. It is constructed with double steel belts, triple polyester cords for a nice, long life. And this Goodyear trailer tire is made in the U.S.A. It is great for highway use. They do use a nylon tread firming belt overlay to help prevent tread separation, uses an optimized tread depth, and decoupling groove design, which will help the tire to remain cool while you're towing heavy loads. And on the sidewall, they have a Durawall technology, which will help resist sidewall cuts and punctures. And then they even have a scuff guard to help provide or provide additional sidewall protection. The tire itself is an ST tire, which stands for Special Trailer tire. It'll couple the strength of a bias tire with the durability and stability of a radial tire. But it is created specifically for trailers. It's not intended for use on any other vehicles. This assembly does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation specifications. The tire's size, which will be stamped on the sidewall. Right here, you can see ST for Special Trailer, 235/80R16. R means that it is a radial. Section width, 9.3 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated, it's 30.8 inches. We mentioned it's a low range E, which means it's a 10-ply rated tire. So it does have a maximum load capacity of 3,420 pounds at 80 PSI. And then the last thing I do wanna mention is this tire does come with a speed rating on it, and they stamp it on the sidewall. And where you'll find that is right down here by the wheel. The tire size is listed again right after it is two numbers for the load index and then the letter N. Speed rating N will mean this has an 87 mile per hour speed rating. But that's gonna do it for a look at this Goodyear Endurance ST235/80R16 radial trailer tire in a load range E, mounted on this 16-inch Eagle black machined aluminum trail wheel.
Fast, helpful with questions, excellent service.
Look great! Showed up fast. Did not see any wheel weights. Not sure if balanced, maybe media inside tire? Time will tell
Exactly what I was looking for. Using etrailer you find that they have not only the product but the knowledge to share with you the pertinent information you need to purchase the corrct item.
Arrived as promised. The associates I spoke with over the phone were super helpful and assured me that the tires would not be old, so that I should have a full use of the tires for up to 5-6 years. The tires' oldest DOT manufacture date was 0925 (Jan/Feb 2025) on one tire (that'll be my spare), the other two tires 2825 (last week of July 2025) is acceptable -indicating they're ~6 months old. etrailer has always been excellent to deal with, and the web site information super useful. Thank You.
Tires and wheels were well packaged and looked great. Not really that much more than bone stock tire and wheel packages. Now my 17 foot Haulmark will stand out from the rest.
They look awesome on my trailer and the tires on them are the best
Tires and wheels received quickly and packaged properly . Made the trailer look great A before and after pictures
