Specs:
The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.
A P2-rated or P3-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate light on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.
Surface-mount lights install flat against the surface of the trailer, so a hole does not need to be cut into the trailer for the light. This type of light is installed using a flange or bracket that has mounting holes. And mounting hardware is used to secure the light to the trailer.

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Optronics Thinline LED Clearance or Side Marker Light. This is a rectangular trailer light that functions as both a clearance side and side marker light when properly mounted, features a sonically sealed waterproof housing and lens unit that is submersible, and it features durable surface mount technology when it comes to the construction of the LED circuit board. That design better withstands shook and vibration, and it allows for improved heat distribution. This is a LED system. LED's make great replacements for incandescent lights. They last longer. They burn brighter.
They're more efficient. With LEDs, you don't have to worry about replacing bulbs, and you don't have to worry about brittle filaments. We're looking at a nice, durable polycarbonate lens and housing. It mounds directly on the surface of your trailer with a required mounting bracket and plug. Something like this. This one has the ground connection through it, single wire design.
It just snaps in there, and then those are also mount holes for mounting to your trailer. Now, you're mounting brackets and plugs are sold separately. They are available at etrailer.com. This light is compatible with 24 volt DC systems. It's SAE and Department of Transportation compliant.
It is a PT rated light. Now, taking a look at the dimensions real quick, then we'll hook it up to power. Edge to edge, we're looking about 3 and 15/16ths of an inch long by an inch and quarter wide. Then, the over all depth, or thickness, of just that lens area is about 7/8ths of an inch deep.I'm going to go ahead and place this one in my bracket here. It just makes it easier to run power to it. See how that gives a really nice finished look to the unit Then, we can hook it up to power.
See You can see here, it sends out a really nice, clear, consistent signal. The unit features three LEDs, so the multi-diode design really helps optimize the overall light output. Power drawl at 24 volts is 0.096 amps, and Optronics puts a lifetime warranty on the LEDs.That's going to do it for today's look at the Optronics Thinline LED Clearance or Side Marker Light.
