Specs:
The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.
A P2-rated or P3-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Optronics Glolight M3 LED Clearance or Side Marker Light. This is a round trailer light that has a smooth, bright outer band that's going to serve as either a side marker light or clearance light for your application. The unit is sonically sealed. It's got a waterproof housing an lens unit that is submersible. It's an LED system. LED's are going to make great replacements for incandescent lights. They last longer, they burn brighter and they're much more efficient.
You don't have to worry about replacing bulbs or worry about brittle filaments. It's going to feature a red lens. It's going to be constructed of a poly carbonate construction when it comes to the lens and the housing. That's a very strong durable design. It is a surface mount installation, so it's going to mount on the surface of the trailer.
The installation area does require a small hole for the wiring to feed through. Your mounting hardware is not included, so that will need to be provided separately. It's got two mount holes on the light. You can see here that this is a two wire design. The two wire pig tails is going to have the 0.18 male bullets on it. That's the connectors right here.
It's going to provide both your power and ground wires. It doesn't matter which wire goes to which function. Either one will work the same, so you can hook up whatever one you want to power, and then you can hook up whatever one you want to ground and the light's going to work just fine. Optronics also offers a chrome mounting bezel, or a chrome finish piece. It's called a bezel. What that is is simply once this is installed, you can add the chrome bezel, and it just snaps over the housing.
That's just going to add a clean finished look to the light. That is sold separately. It's available at etrailer.com if you're interested in that. This is a P2 rated light and it is Department of Transportation compliant. A few measurements to go over with you real quick, if we take a diameter measurement of just the actual light, so measuring from edge to edge of the lens, we can see that the diameter of the light itself is going to measure about an inch and a half in diameter. The depth is going to measure pretty close to three quarters of an inch. The mounting plate, edge to edge measures about one and thirteen sixteenths of an inch. That's going to be a square design, at least edge to edge on either side is going to be one and thirteen sixteenths of an inch. The distance between the mount holes on center, is going to measure a little bit closer to one and three quarters of an inch. Now this contains five diodes or five LED's. The power draw at 12.8 volts is going to be 0.12 amps. We're going to go hook it up to our external power source, that way you can see what it looks like with some power running to it. Then we'll also be able to turn off our overhead lights so you can see it in a low light setting. You can see here that the light sends out a really nice, clear, consistent signal. Again, that's a full LED system. The multi-diode design really helps optimize your light output. You can see that it has that constant center light in there, and then it has this smooth outer band. It just provides a nice, consistent source of light output. That's going to do it for today's look at the Optronics Glolight M3 LED Clearance or Side Marker Light.
Exactly what I needed to rewire my vintage trailer.
Best online company experience so far. Excellent communication that seems truly personable. Product was exactly as expected and looks great. Used as a side marker on the tongue of my aluminum PWC trailer along with rear tail glolights. Thanks again.
