Keeping your gear safe shouldn’t be a hassle. The RetraxONE MX uses a pop-up, locking handle that lets you secure the cover at any point along the rails. Close and lock it with your tailgate for full security, or latch it partway to hide smaller items while leaving space for oversized cargo. The flush-mounted handle sits flat and concealed under a lid, making it tough for anyone to pry open.

You can open or close the cover in seconds with one hand. Sealed ball-bearing rollers glide the polycarbonate panel along the rails without binding or needing lubrication, and the spiral track system keeps the cover from rubbing against itself as it retracts. With no hinges or joints to freeze or trap dirt, operation stays smooth through all seasons.

Rain, snow, dust, and UV rays are no match for this cover. The high-quality polycarbonate (Lexan) top won’t swell, crack, or fade, even between -50° and 200°F. Weather stripping and foam seals surround the bed to keep moisture out, while the overlapping tailgate edge adds another layer of defense. Two drain tubes route water out of the canister so it stays dry inside, even after heavy storms or washes.

Every 4-3/4" inside the Lexan panel, 5/8"-thick aluminum I-beams add strength for a 200-lb evenly distributed weight capacity. The matte black finish is scratch-resistant and keeps its color in the sun. The low-profile rails sit just 1" above the bed for a clean, streamlined look that complements any truck.

The RetraxONE MX arrives pre-assembled in its 13-1/2"-deep by 12"-tall canister, so getting it on your truck is straightforward. Just attach the rails with the included bolts and clamps—no drilling required—then connect the drain tubes through the factory bed holes. Once installed, you get a secure, smooth-operating cover that’s ready for daily use.

Evangeline Hey everyone, today we're taking a look at the RetraxONE, hard tonneau cover right here at etrailer. So this is the RetraxONE MX it's a hard tonneau cover. It's low profile. It has a canister style. It also has things like drain tubes, side rails, clamps. We'll talk about all of those different features.
And then that way, you can see what is the difference between different tonneau covers. And is this the right one for you. Especially given that I've installed a lot of tonneau covers, is I really like how sleek this one looks. It looks great. Especially here on the Nissan frontier.
It's very low profile with that canister style. It doesn't take up much room behind our window. Plus, we can see that no matter where you wanna secure it, you can secure it quickly and easily. You have those different options. The downsides though, with that latch, it's only over here.
So if I wanted to go and open it up towards the cab or over here on the passenger side that is not an option for me. I have to do everything over here. Now opening it up. I just need to push, but you would also have to reach all the way into the truck bed, to bring it back out. But that's just how it goes with tonneau covers.
It's really up to you with what type of lifestyle are you going for What are you carrying in your truck bed Do you like that this has a 200 pound weight capacity and can be locked Or is the canister taking up space inside your truck bed, a deal breaker for you So first let's talk about hard and soft tonneau covers. This is a hard tonneau cover. It has slats that slide and it can also hold up weight. In fact, it can hold up to 200 pounds of evenly distributed weight. So soft tonneau covers usually have a canvas that's stretched out over the cover. And some people aren't completely comfortable with that because what if it tears What if someone tears it intentionally With a hard tonneau cover like this you don't have to worry about that. Now the difference's between other hard tonneau covers is some are tri folding tonneau covers. Where there are three rectangles that just fold onto each other. Others are like this, where they roll into a canister. This being a canister style means, no matter what position you have this tonneau cover in, it's going to be low profile. So some others they roll up, and then they cover your rear window. Here it rolls downwards, but there is a downside to that too. A canister will take up space inside of your truck bed. And the amount of space it will take up will depend on which type of tonneau cover you get for which type of truck. So for example, we have this installed on a 2022 Nissan frontier. The size of the canister is about, nine and a half inches from the top of the tonneau cover to the bottom of the canister. Which leaves us, nine and a half inches on the bottom of our truck bed. So for your truck, if you have a fifth wheel hitch right where I am here in the middle. You can see how you can lose some space on the front, just like as if you would have a toolbox. Plus you'd have to measure for the height of the tonneau cover. So to measure for the height, we have the side rails that sit on top of our truck bed sides. But they create rails for a tonneau cover. So your tonneau cover is actually sitting half an inch below your truck bed sides. So when you consider the half inch you lose from the side rails as well as the height of your truck bed. So for example with this Nissan frontier, we are left with 19 inches of actual truck bed height space. Now let's talk about using it. Opening and closing the tonneau cover and how easy that is. So this slides, back and forth really easy. But also you can lock it into place, wherever you want. So let's say you wanna close this part of your truck bed. Bringing that latch down means you cannot push this back and forth anymore. It's locked into place. So that gives you a lot more versatility compared to some other tonneau covers where they only have the all way open or the all of the way closed position. Plus, once you have this latch down. You can then use your keys to lock the tonneau cover. So when you're ready to drive away, you close the tonneau cover. You latch it into place with the option to lock it. And then, you close your tailgate. Even with the tailgate closed, you can actually open up your tonneau cover and push this open but it will take a lot more strength. But that way if you need to grab something real quick and you don't want to have to open up your tailgate, you can do so. The downside to that is you have to access it in the back driver's side. If you wanna access it over here in the passenger side or maybe up towards the cab, you do not have that option. All of it is operated by that latch. Now the RetraxONE MX definitely is a good looking tonneau cover. It's very sleek. It's very smooth. In fact, this has been on this truck for a couple months and it still looks almost new. It's very easy to clean off. It has a high quality polycarbonate material, and that matte black finish just makes things look nice and clean. Well what if a big storm kicks up, or how does it hold up to the elements Well, even though this one's been sitting out in the E trailer parking lot for every weekday for months, it still looks really good. You can see how that UV resistance has held up. And I don't see any fading, from the finish. Now for those storms, if you do have that water come down. You also have these drain tubes included with your tonneau cover. With them installed in the canister. This thing drains that water out of your own truck's drain holes. With this being custom fit it should work with your truck's own drain holes, but it really also depends on the truck. In fact, I had to drill this one out because we had this spray in bed liner that I had to drill through. So keep that in mind when installing this tonneau cover. But this was a look at the RetraxONE MX hard tonneau cover right here, at E trailer. My name is Evangeline and I hope you enjoyed the journey..

Great Tonneau
Great cover, not a minutes trouble after a year on the truck.
Everything was on time and good quality. Easy to install, but you need to open the lock before installing the rail. If the lock is in the lock or down position the rail won’t go on. Other than that it was easy and it looks great on the truck!
We love this cover! I will most likely be ordering another one because unfortunately I got trapped in a terrible hail storm and the cover was damaged. No way any covered would have survived.
Thank you
this is a great product if your on the fence pull the string easy to install works good.
Easy to install.
Excellent product. Easy do it yourself installation and looks and works great. Very high quality.
Installation straightforward, well buil t.
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and durability. I like the ability to cover, lock and latch in partially closed position to help support large items. I'm sure I'm getting a little bit better gas mileage because of the drag reduction off the bed. The only drawback: the space that the canister takes up reduces your bed size. It hasn't impacted me yet as I have the larger bed size. If you have a bed extender, that will help. I definitely like the retractable better that the folding ones.
Had had it long but very satisfied.
Nice so far. Easy installation.
I am very happy with the cover. It is exactly what I needed and it works great.
Thanks for the follow up. Everything I have ordered from etrailer has performed great.
You are my go to website.
Easy to install, great fit, looks fantastic. Arrived on time.
One year update: My RetraxONE MX still looks and performs good. For my application (fifth wheel protection) it was a good choice.
I spoke with Jesse who was very helpful in helping me pick out this product for my 2006 Toyota Tacoma. He was also very helpful when he informed me that I needed a tailgate lock. The product arrived in a timely manner and was as advertised. My daughters and I set up the RetraxONE MX Hard Tonneau Cover pretty quickly. The installation was simple and straight-forward. Would purchase again from etrailer.
It is extremely hard to open and close even with grease on the rails and proper alignment.
Great service love e trailer
Good product. Easy one person installation, second person needed for lifting and makes installation quicker.
Great product. Love the way it opens and closes so easy. It’s pricey, but well worth it. Very easy to install.
I purchased and self-installed this cover on my 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2. Tracking of the shipment was spot on. Excellent communication by Kelly (etrailer customer support). Installation was simple and straightforward. The quality of the cover is excellent. Made in the USA. I highly recommend this cover.
A little challenging at first with the directions but with my neighbor helping we pulled through. 3-4 hours of slow methodical reading and working. Very nice product looks great and works as advertised.
The unit shipped to my location with over a months delay. This was too late for our last camping trip of2 2021, which I was counting on using it. I installed this year instead. Some of the tapped holes need to be re-tapped. Also, drain plugs were a little tricky in that the hose interfered with that latching mechanism, so they did not latch correctly at first. The roll-up into the box does not seem as smooth as the videos seem to show. Roll down to close is smooth.
It fits great looks great it works e-trailer is a great company to use
