Most covers make you choose between protection and flexibility, but the G2 does both. The quad-fold design lets you open just one section for smaller items or fold all the panels upright for full bed access. Prop rods lock it securely in place so you can drive with the bed completely open, and rubber bumpers keep it from touching your cab or rear glass. It even keeps your third brake light visible when folded up.
Security is built right in. Each aluminum panel automatically latches as you close it, and when the tailgate is locked, the cover can’t be opened. The sturdy, 1/2" thick aluminum panels and insulated cores prevent prying or cutting, so your gear stays safe. You can open or close it with one hand using easy-to-reach release cords, making it simple to use every day.
Rain and wash water are no match for this setup. Matte black rubber seals run all the way around the cover, and any water that sneaks past is routed through built-in gutters and out drain hoses behind the cab. The textured black finish resists corrosion and UV damage, so it stays looking clean and protects your cargo in heat, cold, or storms.
The G2 is built for real use. Each panel is made from rustproof aluminum with an insulated foam core and can handle up to 300 lbs of evenly distributed weight when closed. The rails are aircraft-grade aluminum with a black powder coat, and the hinges and latches are designed for smooth, long-term operation.
You don’t need to drill or modify anything to get it installed. The frame rails clamp inside the bed rails with just a wrench, and the front hinge rail bolts in place for a snug, aligned fit. The low-profile mount keeps it flush inside the bed rails, leaving your stake pockets free for racks or other accessories.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Bakflip G2 Hard Tonneau Cover, part number bak26101. Some special features of the Bakflip G2 is that it gives you the ability to drive with the tonneau cover in four different positions. This custom fit tonneau cover protects your cargo and your vehicle's bed from the elements. This tonneau cover is made of half inch thick rust-proof aluminum panels that are sturdy and durable. It has aircraft grade rust-proof aluminum rails with black powder-coat finish to create a nice strong base for the tonneau. This is an easy no drill installation.
The G2 also has a rubber seal which goes around the bedrails of the pickup truck and also here near the tailgate. This is also going to help prevent your gear from getting wet. Its aerodynamic style reduces drag and improves gas mileage. It's made in the U.S.A. and comes with a two year warranty.
It has an integrated latch system and three portions of the tonneau cover. One here at the back, which we can lift up and fold the back panel towards the cab. Now you can drive with this panel up using the deer rings at the top and the underside of the tonneau cover. You can also fold it a second time to use it in this setting as well. Now there is a latch along the second panel which we can pull to fold it again towards the cab.
You can also pull the third latch here with the panel closest to the cab and fold it up. Now there is a soft rubber padding which the panels can rest up against the cab of the pickup truck. Now these metal rods here along each rail of the tonneau cover can fold out and rest up on the back panel putting pressure up towards the cab of the truck and preventing the panel from bouncing up and down up against the cab. We can do this by unscrewing the black knob and inserting the metal rod into position and pushing down the plate up against the metal rod and securing it with the knob. The Blakflip G2 also has a unique integrated drain tube on both the passenger and driver's side of the vehicle.
This will prevent all of your gear from getting wet. Please remember that before closing the back panel of your tonneau cover your tailgate must be closed. With that, that will complete today's review of the Blakflip G2 Hard Tonneau Cover, part number bak26101.

After using it for a while Im extremely happy with this cover. It has been a game changer, making my 2008 Ford Ranger bed far more useable and convenient for carrying a variety of items. One of the best purchases Ive ever made for it.

Hi Mardy. I have heard this to be a difficult install and the latches to be stiff (though adjusting them helps), but noisy, flimsy, and poor quality are firsts for a BAK product like this. What kind of noise are you getting? Is something maybe not tightened down all the way causing part to stick up? And, what part are you finding flimsy or poor quality?

After a year of use the cover still works perfectly and I would highly recommend this cover. I really like the fact that you can open up different sections without having to open the whole thing.

Actually its closer to two years and I could not be more pleased. I have done a few rainy road trips and the one thing that worried me was if it would keep the contents dry and it did. Al else about the cover has been good too. Good product and it fit like a glove.

Generally this cover continues to perform well. There is a small leak, which I haven’t been able to locate, but it’s not enough to do any harm to whatever may be in the bed. I would still recommend this cover.
