Features to know about

Control and Cushion When It Counts

When the load gets heavy, your truck needs more than just rear springs hanging on for dear life. Alpha HD air springs add up to 5,000 lbs of rear axle support, keeping your truck steady even when the trailer is loaded, the bed is packed, and the miles are long. No more rear-end sag throwing off your braking and steering, or headlights pointing into the sky. With air bag support underneath, you keep control of your ride even when you're towing a travel trailer or moving a serious payload.

Dial in the Ride for Any Load

Every load is different, and this system adjusts to match. Alpha HD air springs let you fine-tune ride height and firmness with air pressure from 5 to 100 psi. When carrying heavy weight, add air to level your suspension and maintain steady handling. Running without a load? Drop to the minimum pressure for a smoother, more compliant ride without stiffness or bounce. Manual inflation valves are included, so tuning your setup for each trip is straightforward and dependable.

Built Tough for Work and Weather

Air bags are only as strong as their weakest link. That's why Alpha HD bags are reinforced from end to end with heavy-duty end caps, 20 internal support wires, and powder-coated steel brackets. Add corrosion-resistant hardware and thick roll plates, and you've got gear that holds up to real-world hauling through heat, cold, salt, and slop.

Installation That Doesn't Waste Your Weekend

Adding serious load support shouldn't mean losing a whole weekend. The precision laser-cut brackets are designed to bolt cleanly to your truck's existing mounting points with minimal drilling. Just smart engineering that fits the way it should, which is perfect for the DIYer. Manual valves mount through license plate fastener holes or a location of your choosing (which may require drilling). With high-quality fittings, pre-bent brackets, and mounting hardware included, you'll be back on the road in just a few hours without a trip to the fab shop.

Flexible for Today, Ready for What's Next

This kit is designed to work with your setup today and wherever your upgrades take you tomorrow. You can inflate manually with standard air valves right out of the box, no extra parts needed. Already have an onboard compressor? The Alpha HD system connects easily to most existing setups. Planning for an in-cab wireless controller down the road? No problem. The foundation is already built in, making it easy to expand your control options when you're ready.

Video Transcript for Pacbrake Alpha Air Bag Suspension Kit Review and Comparison

Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here from eTrailer, and today, we're taking a look at the Pacbrake line of rear suspension airbags. Now, there's a bunch of brands out there that we carry, and that could be Firestone or Air Lift traditionally, and I've installed tons of them. Pacbrake is fairly new to eTrailer, and I'm excited to tell you this is an awesome option. And I'm gonna show you why I think this might be a fantastic option for your truck. And even when you compare with those other ones, there's things that make Pacbrake stand out that I think might become my favorite. Now, if you've heard the name Pacbrake before, it's potentially from a lot of commercial trucking.

They've done engine brakes and exhaust brakes and have been around for a long time. And part of that is gonna be the airbag systems. Just like your Firestone and Air Lift that you find on semi-truck, Pacbrake is gonna be from that commercial aspect. So you know that it's been tried and true in heavy duty applications. And here we have three different styles of what they offer.

With the SD, you will get 1800 to 2000 pounds of load leveling in either sleeve style or in-coil bags. With the HD, you'll get 5,000 pounds of load leveling with either single or double convoluted bags and an internal jounce bumper. With the XD, you'll get 7,500 pounds of load leveling, double convoluted bags, and internal jounce bumpers. Now, as far as different styles, it depends on really your application of your vehicle and the height necessary. So here, we have a double convoluted.

That's pretty common that you'll see in a lot of different airbags. You have your roll plates and really, really nice brackets, something that's unique. These are all from different vehicles, and all of their brackets are extremely thick. They feel really good, and they have this hammered powder coat finish that looks really good and generally will hold up to chips, scratches and rust long-term. Now, with that being said, all these brackets are custom-fit to vehicles, so they're gonna be a bolt up application.

With that, are you gonna get anything different from those other brands that are out there Well, yes and no. I mean, at the end of the day, you're really getting airbag suspension and brackets to bolt up to your vehicle, but it's the little touches that I've noticed so far with the Pacbrakes that really make it a nice option. I got our Pacbrake airbags installed on our Tundra and I'm here to tell you that installation's probably not gonna be much different from other brands, but really what it comes down to is all of the touch points that I handled while putting this in place, very nice. Instructions we inchesre very thorough, the hardware was really good, the airlines we inchesre really good. So I have zero complaints. I'm not gonna say that if you go with Pacbrake, you're gonna have an easier installation. I don't think that's the case. I think it's definitely dependent on which vehicle you have. And that brings me up to another point. As you're looking for airbags, whatever brand it may be, make sure you're using our fit guide to get the specific fit to your vehicle, because many times, there's gonna be variances on trims or years, and it really can make a huge difference because these are custom fit. Now, this was a no drill application. I did cut some U bolts, and I didn't necessarily have to, but I wanted to get it a little bit cleaner-looking under here. And the reason those we inchesre so long is because they're separate brackets for those other years of trucks. So this is a wide range of them on this one, and they account for all of that. Little things like having a new clamp for your e-brake bracket. That way, it's not rubbing against everything is, again, them really doing the R&D, installing it, and putting themselves in the end user like you in their shoes. And that way, you get a really great system overall. So overall, when it comes to the installation, probably not gonna notice a huge difference, but I'm pretty happy with this. I did use the included tubing cutters and they worked fantastic. In fact, better than the one that I have, which probably needs to replace the blades. So this makes a huge difference, because really, the only connection points that I had to check for leaks we inchesre at the bottom on our air fitting. So as long as you tighten down the air fitting, it really comes down to getting a clean cut. And again, they didn't have to include this, but this keeps you from having to go out and guess or get a blade or whatever it may be. You have to go purchase that and hope that you made a clean cut. This does a really good job. And it's the little things like this that make Pacbrake I think stand out. Just thinking about the end consumer, Pacbrake does little stuff like this that really makes me think that they do care. There's a sticker that you can put in the door that has the replacement part for your spring. If you we inchesre to ever have these wear out, which these are a wear item. After multiple years in heavy use and especially in some Midwest weather like we have here, eventually, they can wear out. That's something to look at is their warranty. It's really good. But also, if you ever needed to replace that, you could take a look at this sticker. Instructions, it's really straightforward. There's pictures and it all makes sense. So that's another thing too. Generally, airbags aren't that hard of an installation, no matter what brand you get, but having concise and clear instructions will make it that much easier. So obviously, if you've landed on this page, you've probably already decided that you wanted airbags and you maybe considering Pacbrake over some of the other competitors. And I'm here to tell you that at the end of the day, I've had great luck with all of them, and all of them can be used with any air compressor that you wanna pick from any manufacturer, 'cause at the end of the day, you're just tapping into that same quarter inch airline tube. So why would you choose Pacbrake over the others I mean, it really comes down to personal preference. If you have a brand loyalty over one or the other, that's completely up to you. I didn't really know about Pacbrake until I started working here and we brought these on. We've had a few people install them and they had nothing but good things to say. And really, it comes down for us, ease of installation and all the touch points. When I see that these brackets have that hammered powder coat finish and it looks really good, that stands out to me. And a lot of that might come down to it's made and built in the USA. If you're looking at airbags and you've looked at all the different brands and Pacbrake is just one that there's not a whole lot of content on yet because we've just brought them on, hopefully, this video kind of helps maybe be a deciding factor for you, because at the end of the day, if I was to get airbags on my vehicle, Pacbrake might be the one that I look at first. And it really comes down to looking at prices between all of 'em. That's gonna be up to you. They tend to be pretty close to each other and maybe even a little bit under some of the other brands. And seeing all the fit and finish, all the quality features on it, I think Pacbrake is gonna be a huge great addition to your vehicle and to eTrailer. So if you're on the fence and you're not sure what this brand is and if it's gonna be the same as your Firestone and Air Ride, which you've heard of before, I'm here to tell you, you're gonna be equally, if not more happy with your new airbag setup.

Look good so far. not hard to install.

by:

Overall the installation isn’t bad, couple bolts/nuts difficult to access but doable. Took little over an hour to install both heavy duty bags.
They do roughen the ride on the 2021 RAM 1500 hemi/etorque 4x4 with coil springs. I’ve brought the air pressure down to 2 lbs and still notice that without weight in bed or trailer attached it still is stiffer.
I would recommend using these Pacbrake heavy duty air bags.

by:

Great kit. Great quality. Easy assembly. Would’ve given 5 stars except for the J-Hooks. Having the end user cut them off creates an opportunity for someone to mess up. They could easily be made the correct length without causing install issues.

by:

Easy instal and has worked perfectly.

by:

nick was very helpful everything was as expected

by:

The product is a great product. After installation was completed and the air added to the air suspension, it raised the rear end of the van about 2-3 inches.A very nice improvement.
Installation instructions definitely need better quality diagrams.

by:

Easy to install and work just as I had expected. Great finish on brackets and quality hardware. Easy to follow instructions. Highly recommend these airbags!

by:

The 2" spacers are definitely not needed for a Trail Boss. I could barely get them in, and now the ride is super stiff. Now I have to get back under the truck and remove the spacers. Not looking forward to that. It was very difficult installation, for no reason.

by:

Looks great. Thanks

by:

Very well built brackets, installation was as explained in the instruction. Happy Camper!

by:

I put them to use today and was very happy with the ride and stability while towing my camper.

by:

Put about 1800 miles on these last weekend. Was picking up a car that's heavier than my normal race car on the ramp truck, so I wanted to give the truck a bit of help. Good news, it worked well. Truck rode beautifully, loaded or unloaded.

The instructions could be a bit more clear, in regards to the clinch stud. I had that on backwards at first because of how things appeared in the picture. Also, I know most things are DIY but installation was about 80% assembly, 20% actual install. If these came already assembled, it would have saved a lot of time!

by:

These fit absolutely perfect. Easy install help keep my truck level when connected to my fifth wheel.

by:

Simple to install, did it without pulling the tires and wheels I seen no need for that, It took me a total of 3 hrs. to install in my driveway.

by:

What a difference the air bags make when towing a camper. Installation was easy, instructions were well written.

by:

The air bags were very simple to install but the u bolts for my gooseneck mount interfered with the air bag mounting

by:

Good quality product. For my 2018 1500 Silverado it was a little difficult to get the U bolt over the frame but under the hard lines running on top of the frame in that area.

by:

Aluminum ends, brackets, and even packaging was all exceptional and part of the reason I choose these. Haven't trailered anything yet but upon initial install no noticeable difference ride difference running 10 psi on a F250.

by:

Worked well when pulling trailer. Kept vehicle and trailer level. Without trailer seems to creak and groan more than I thought it would.

by:

Both of the fitting leak where they swivel. Had to take everything back off. Not my first time installing bags but First time with this brand and will be the last. Etrailer won’t make it right and having me go though pacbrake. Waiting on email to get process started. They Don’t seem to be in any hurry. Will try and source fitting local so I can get this back together. Shane on you etrailer. I ordered from you and shipping was slow not knowing it was directly coming from manufacturer.

by:

Went in easy enough, better than I thought. Ride without trailer attached is good. Have not hooked up trailer yet

by:

Easy to install with the rear tires off, did one side at the time with a single jack and two jack stands. The towing of our fifth wheel is much better, much less chucking and more directional stable.

by:

I like these bags. This is my 3rd set of air bags but my 1st set of PACBRAKE I have owned and they are the best. Metal where others are plastic. Powder coated instead of paint that rusts off. nice hardware instead of crummy allan bolts that can't easily be removed. The bracing is much better too. They are by far higher quality than the firestone. Installation is about the same but they use stainless air fittings instead of plastic like the other guys. The ends of the PACBRAKE are machined aluminum. My Airlifts brand were plastic with inserts that broke out.(see pic) I havent had the chance to use the new PACBRAKE under tough conditions but the hardware and Materials they are made of are superior to the other brands.
