Features to know about

Avoid Awkward Overhang: Flush, Factory-Look Bars

The flush design keeps the crossbars tight to the roofline, giving a clean, integrated style. Nothing sticks out past the sides, so the rack looks like it came with the vehicle from the start. The Yakima BaseLine FX keeps everything neat and balanced, with a smooth aluminum build that complements the factory look rather than fighting it.

Cut Down on Wind Noise: Aerodynamic JetStream Crossbars with Rubber Strips

Long drives shouldn’t come with annoying wind noise. The aerodynamic JetStream-style bars help reduce drag, and the push-down rubber strips fill in the top channels to limit wind whistling and vibration. It’s a big difference when you’re cruising down the highway—less noise and smoother airflow for a more relaxed trip.

Bring Your Favorite Gear with You: Works with Channel-Mount and Clamp-On Accessories

This rack is ready for whatever you like to carry. The crossbars are compatible with most bike, watersport, snow, and cargo carriers, so you can mount kayaks, skis, or cargo boxes without hunting for special adapters. They work with both channel-mount and clamp-on accessories, giving you flexibility no matter what kind of adventure you’re heading out on.

Strong Enough for Heavy Loads: 165-lb Capacity Aluminum Construction

When it comes to hauling gear, strength matters. These aluminum bars are built to handle up to 165 lbs while staying sturdy under load. Whether you’re packing for a camping trip or carrying water gear for a weekend away, you can trust this setup to hold steady mile after mile.

Add Security When You Need It: SKS Lock Core Compatibility

It’s easy to keep your rack secure when you add Yakima Same Key System lock cores (sold separately). They help deter theft of both the rack and any channel-mount accessories. It’s a simple way to lock everything up before turning in for the night or leaving your car at the trailhead.

Video Transcript for Feature Review BaseClip Fit Kit for Yakima BaseLine Roof Rack Towers

Hi, everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima BaseClip Fit Kit for your Yakima BaseLine FX Roof Rack Kits. Now, this is gonna be the rubber pad and the clamps that actually hold the whole roof rack system in place and make it a custom fit for your various different vehicles. Now, that being said, there's tons of different kits out there on our website for different vehicles, all of those pads are gonna be molded somewhat differently to adapt to different roof shapes, so do plug in your vehicle information into our fit guide and find the right fit kit for you and your vehicle, but it's gonna be a look at the overall system, how it works, and how it functions with the roof rack. So the main two parts of this are gonna be the rubber pad and the clamp, but let's talk about that rubber pad first. It's gonna be custom molded to your vehicle, so you can see really well right here on this lip, it forms around that ridge on the roof and fits snugly into place there to make sure that nothing is moving around and it's fit custom to that area.

Now, the base of that fit kit is what actually clips into the tower here and serves as the connection point between the crossbar roof rack system and your vehicle. That rubber base to it is going to give you the maximum protection and make sure that you're not scratching or scuffing any paint on your roof, and it keeps things nice and sealed up. Now, the stainless steel clip is what also helps to secure it to our roof, that's gonna be the second main component. It's a stainless steel construction and a black powder coat finish, the finish helps it match the whole roof rack system, but it all helps it resists rust and corrosion. Now, the inside of those clips are gonna have a rubber padding, again, so there's no metal on metal contact with our paint or anything, and then you can see here, it's custom fit, hooking inside our door jam, and whenever I close the door, it'll just fit right around there, making sure that it's a nice custom fit.

It attaches up inside the tower right up through here, and it just tightens down, hooking into a slotted opening hole, and then that's what gets it all secured and what helps it join into the tower system. These fit kits come in pairs, one for the passenger's side and one for the driver's side. Now, the reason they do that is because depending on your vehicle, you're probably gonna have a different fit kit for the front and rear. Yakima does a lot of research and development into making sure it's a custom fit for the vehicle, and the one we have it on here today, the Honda Civic, is a perfect example. You can even visually see how much longer the clamp at the back is compared to this clamp up at the front.

So clearly, we're gonna need a different kit for the front end, because there's just less distance for that clamp to travel. So again, plug in your vehicle information to our fit guide, make sure you find the right kits for you, and make sure that you also have the right set for the front and rear. But that's really all there is to it. The BaseClip system is gonna work really well in tandem with that BaseLine roof rack system, and it's really just coming down to making sure you get the right fit for your vehicle, because without that fit kit, you don't have a roof rack. But that'll do it for our look at these BaseClip Fit Kits for your Yakima BaseLine Roof Rack Systems.

Thanks for watching.

Great!

2018 Toyota Camry
I was in dire need of finding a cross bar system to mount a 18cu foot Yakima cargo carrier for an upcoming camping trip and etrailer did me an enormous favor by using there website to find the correct system for my 2018 Toyota Camry. I was very pleased that the website confirmed the fitment and provided the whole kit with not just the towers and cross bars but also the clips to mount to a naked roof. So far the mounting was pretty straightforward as long as you follow the directions thoroughly. I drove 5 hours through a wind storm in SoCal with a box mounted and the system held up perfectly fine with no issues or hiccups. 10/10 recommend.

Nice! Glad to hear that your roof rack is working well for you. Thanks for sending the photos!

I was able to use these clips to mount a roof rack and roof box on my Audi that had a naked roof, and they did the job! I took it on a 1,200 mile road trip and after I returned there wasn’t any damage to the paint, and even though there are rubber inserts on the inside of the clip to prevent scratches I was still a bit surprised.

If you don’t have roof rails on your car, these definitely help!

We're glad we could help Alex, nice truck!!

by:
dodge Ram Pickup
I was converting a roof rack from my Jeep Cherokee (factory rails) to my RAM 2500 truck (naked roof). While I could use my old Jetstream crossbars, I needed new towers and clips for the truck. There was an error in my original order, the representative thought she was sending me two pairs of clips. I understand the mixup because the Clip box said two meaning 2 clips rather than two pair. etrailer sent another pair immediately and waived the shipping. I like customer service is available and knowledgable. I would give them a five if they hadn't mixed up the first order.
by:
The racks are easy to remove and reinstall once they are set up. My only complaint is that Yakama only seems to make the base clips in one length. This limits the distance that I can separate the bars to 32 inches. They don't reach under the door sill if I move them further back. If they stamped them out in a few different lengths one would have more options in terms of distance between the bars.
by:
Rack is still on the car one year later. Yakima doesn’t have a replacement cover for the tower, which is flimsy.

I'm a repeat customer at etrailer several times now, and with good reason. They have provided what I needed in terms of both product and assistance reliably and promptly. The best online supplier I have found.
by:
High quality and all. But my old Yakima rack setup stayed together. The cover was part of a lever to tighten clips. The clips were captured in the assembly. New design the cover and clips need to be completely removed. Need a torque Allen wrench to install every time. Loose parts become Easter egg hunts. Am sure this is to sailer proof mount--that truly is impossible!

The clips are very easy to install and good fit on my 2020 Ram 1500.

I have a 10th gen Civic sedan and I was dying to get the perfect roof rack set for my car. At the time of my purchase there was not many visuals of what the rack system looked like on this car.

I purchased the:

•Yakima 50in Jetstream crossbars
•Yakima baseline towers
•bc182 & bc183 clips
•Yakima 46in fairing

Overall I love how it looks on my car! During This COVID pandemic I have been camping more, and this is the perfect foundation! First off, the 46in fairing is the perfect fit for the 10th gen civic! Wind noise is low also with the help of the aerodynamic crossbars. My main concern was the fuel efficiency. On long road trips I still average 38-40 mpg with the rack on. My daily commutes I average 34 mpg without Econ on.
by:
Now that was fast, the go to place to find unique, hard to get and out of stock items for your RV, Camping and Trailering needs. Awesome service and work everyone.

From start to finish, the folks at etrailer -- and I spoke to several people there, so it was a consistent corporate vibe -- were fantastic to deal with.

There were delays in getting my product that were on the supplier side and out of eTrailer's control, yet etrailer folks kept me up to date and also worked on a customized solution.

My goal was to be able to carry my surfboard on the roof of our 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe to the beach more than 3 hours away. But the particular model we had had no existing racks, no recessed areas, nothing to fix racks to. Not even the dealer had a solution. I was sh*t out of luck.

But etrailer hooked me up. The racks did take me a while to put on, but most of that time was fine tuning to reduce “hum” while driving. I’m very happy with them.

Thanks to etrailer, I have gone surfing and can go surfing whenever I'd like to.

2-years into owning my system: I have had the rack on the vehicle for 2-years and never removed it. Every 3-4 months i check the performance of the base clips and they have never come lose. I think best practice is to always check the stability of the rack however i have never had a problem and the system has always stayed tight and firm. Its been a great system for the vehicle.

I ordered the Yakima "aero" bars , baseline towers, and BaseClip kits for my 2019 Honda Civic 5 door. While expensive the quality is excellent and it was a pleasure to assemble such a high quality and precision engineered product. It fits perfectly on my new car and the "aero" bars are quiet even at freeway speeds. Highly recommended.

3 years ago etrailer helped me to fit Yakima racks on my Honda Accord so that I could carry my kayake.
I got a new Honda Accord this year and only had to replace the baseline towers and can still use the other parts.
It was pretty easy to install with good directions.

The installation was super easy, and despite a long time stuck in shipping the delivery itself was extremely fast, and the package arrived in spotless condition. The manuals were very easy to follow, and the end result is absolutely amazing. They provided a nice, flush finish and hold the racks down tight.

Still amazing, easy to clip on and off between road trips. Sturdy an well made.

by:
The rack has performed very well. I have carried a 100 lbs spare tire for over 6k miles across the country. On numerous 4wd roads and the rack has never shifted or marred my roof when removed. The only annoying issue is rubber pads doesn't clip in a better positive fashion when installing or during removal.

  • Will Yakima BaseLine FX Roof Rack Hold Hobie Outback on 2022 Nissan Altima
Hi John; the Yakima BaseLine FX Roof Rack # Y59UV has a capacity of 165 lbs. It can definitely handle the weight of your Hobie Outback and will allow the use of a kayak carrier like the Malone MegaWing # MPG207. Make sure you double check the capacity of the roof on your Altima as well to make sure it is high enough to handle the kayak.

  • Can the Yakima BaseLine Crossbars Handle the Weight Capacity of a Roof Top Tent
The weight capacities listed on cross bars like the Yakima BaseLine FX Roof Rack for Naked Roofs # Y59UV are the dynamic capacity, meaning while the vehicle is in motion. When you're parked and using your tent, the weight capacity is easily going to double or triple because the weight will be static over the axles. So with that being said, the BaseLine crossbars will easily be able to handle the weight of the two adults and the roof top tent. It's also worth mentioning that most, if...
