Today we're taking a look at a K-source replacement side mirror for the driver side of your vehicle. Now this product fits a 2000 to 2002 Ford Expedition as well as a 2000 to 2002 Lincoln Navigator. If you wanna ensure or double check that this is a fit for your vehicle, you can use the vehicle fit guide located at etrailer.com. Now this side view mirror is a direct replacement for the driver side factory mirror on your vehicle. It's modeled after the manufacturer's original look and fit. It does feature power remote capabilities.
So you can adjust the mirror face position with the factory power controls inside your vehicle. We have a light right here on the back of the mirror that will flash when your turn signal's activated.It's on back portion and off to the outer edge or off to the outer side of the unit. Overall it's a really nice design. We're looking at a OE grade flat glass with first surface plating to reflect clear images. So the front of the glass is plated with reflective chrome and then the flat lens reflects true representation of the object size.
It also features a break away design. So if the mirror is struck from the front or from the back it will fold to help deter breakage. We're looking at a durable, plastic construction with black finishing and it can be painted to match your vehicle if desired.It's an easy, no drill installation. Uses the same footprint and mounting points as your factory mirror. It's got the threaded studs and it comes with brand new installation nuts.
And then the mirror plugs into the existing electrical wiring. Now the original equipment or OE number is 1L1Z17683BAA. The good outweighs the bad with this replacement. The new K-Source mirror seems like it gives me a little bit wider angle of visibility than the OEM mirror. I appreciate that, but I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't simply just swap out the K-Source cover with my OEM cover. Truck looks like it has an eyepatch now! All in all, almost considered buying the right hand side for a matching set. I'll leave it for now.
The product is a good fit. Very close to the original manufacturer mirror. Installing it was straightforward and I had no issues with the fit.
The only issue I have is with the products availability. The website did not state that it was on backorder when I purchased it, so I had to wait over three weeks for delivery. Not a deal-breaker, but a heads up before I purchased would have been good so I could decide whether or not to proceed. I'm glad I didn't absolutely need the mirror by a certain day. Otherwise this would be a different review entirely.
I definitely recommend etrailer for purchasing though. All of their products I have ordered are very good quality.
