Features to know about

Keeps the Top of Your Slide Clean and Dry: Automatic Slide-Out Protection

This Solera RV Slide-Out Awning extends and retracts automatically with your slide, so debris, rain, and standing water never get the chance to build up on top. It helps prevent water damage, mildew, and leaks that can happen when moisture seeps into slide seals. Once mounted, it works every time the slide moves, giving you reliable protection without any extra steps.

Holds Up in Rough Weather: Heavy-Duty 13.5-oz Vinyl Fabric

The awning is made from premium 13.5-oz vinyl that’s built to handle years of outdoor use. It’s cold-crack tested to -25°F so it won’t stiffen or split in freezing conditions. The seams are heat-welded, not stitched, to keep rain from seeping through. That makes it tougher and longer-lasting than thinner or sewn fabrics.

Sized Right for Large Slide-Outs: Fits 193"–198" Wide with 48" Extension

This model is built for slide-outs that measure 193" to 198" wide and extend up to 48". The awning rail itself is 198" long, and the fabric covers the full 198" width when extended. You’ll need at least 7" of clearance on both sides of the slide-out—or go one size down if space is tight. Two slide-outs next to each other need 14" total clearance between them.

Straightforward Install with Included Hardware

Everything you need comes in the box—awning rail, brackets, and hardware. The roller tube already has the fabric mounted, so you won’t have to feed it on yourself. The access plate mounts with self-tapping screws, and the brackets slide onto the track to hold the roller in place. Once installed, the awning automatically moves with your slide—no extra power or switches required.

Clean, Matched Look: White Fabric and Hardware

The white awning fabric matches the white hardware for a clean, uniform appearance that blends well with most RV finishes. It’s a simple way to add function and protection while keeping everything looking neat and well-finished.

Note

The slide topper you receive may or may not be from the Solera 5000 Series. A minor redesign has changed the shape of the extension bar, awning heads, and brackets. There is no difference in how it functions or installs.

It's important that the slide-topper sits at as steep an angle as possible so that any rainwater will drain immediately. Any water that sits in the awning can stretch out the fabric permanently and warp it out of shape.

Video Transcript for RV Patio Upgrade: Lippert Breaks Down Their Heavy-Duty Awnings

Hello, neighbors. It's Brad here, and today I'm in Elkhart, Indiana, which is the RV capital of the world. And if you have a camper, the name Lippert probably is somewhere on your camper. And today we're at the corporate headquarters, and we're gonna be talking to some of their product experts to take a closer look at their products. So let's hop inside and get to chatting. I'm here with Dymon, and today we're gonna be talking about the Solera awnings.

And you know, if you've been to the campsite and maybe your camper wasn't originally prepped with one, you see people under the shade and enjoying the outdoors without sun cooking down on 'em. You're not stuck. You can add those on with no problem. A lot of times even prepped, correct Correct, correct. What I'd like to talk about today is our 3000 Series awning, and that's the one you're gonna see on 95, 99% majority of the trailers out there.

It's a 12 volt power awning. So when it comes to putting on an awning, I mentioned a lot of 'em are prepped. So what, I guess, you know, you have your extrusion rail, but what else comes into play when getting one of these installed if it wasn't ever previously installed Well, if you don't have one, you would need a backer in the trailer itself for the arm's belt to attach into. Most manufacturers already have those backers in there. I don't know of anybody who doesn't this point, 'cause awnings are so popular.

Sure. So you'll have that in there. You just have to have the awning rail up there. And then possibly, if it was not a power awning in the beginning, they'll have to run a 12 volt line, or pull from a 12 volt line. That'll give you power to run this 12 volt awning.

And then as far as sizes, you guys cover. The whole gamut, yeah. You go to 21 feet before you start having to add in the center support. We do build them past 21 feet, but it's a special order, and you will leave the center support to help support the roll itself up there. We've added those on, I mean, but once those are fully extended, the amount of real estate that you're covering with shade is is pretty impressive. Yeah, it gives you a big living area for sure. Now, as far as making sure that you get the proper one for yours, how do you go about measuring to make sure it's the right application Well, the majority of them, if you're replacing an awning, which you're more likely you're going to be doing, you'll measure from the center of awning arm to center of awning arm. And that'll give you the size that you need. Brad You know, as far as UV, potentially weather, they hold up really well. Yeah, 13 and a half vinyl ounces. So it's very, very heavy, durable vinyl. We heat weld seam, all the edges. We do not sew. So there's no place for possible rain or water to get through. It's a special process that we actually brought over from Europe to be able to incorporate it here in the United States, which we do make these right here in Elkhart itself. So they're right here locally to us. But yeah, UV resistant. Mold, mildew resistant. Very heavy duty, made to last. And we actually got to see those being made here, which was really cool. I've installed tons of them, but you can see the quality that goes into 'em. And along with that, you know, after plenty of years of keeping the same camper, if that fabric wears out, you can still replace the fabric and keep the arms and motor assembly, right Yeah, absolutely. If everything else is still working fine in the vinyls, just for whatever reason, or maybe a limb went through it, fell down and came through it, you can replace just the fabric itself, in a multitude of colors even, if you'd like to. Brad And as far as like extension, does it stop at any point, or does it roll back when you go full out Dymon It will start to roll back, it will start to roll back. So have eight foot. It'll shut off for a minute, and that's made by resistance. But if you keep holding the button, it will start coming back in itself. Well, I talked to Brian at the manufacturing facility and he said that's a feature. And I said, "Okay, how" And if you get stuff on the bottom side or the top side cleaning it, you can make it a lot easier. You know, you can unroll it instead of being under there with the brush, scrubbing. You can kind of roll that back, get to those spots and clean it, and I thought that was pretty ingenious. Yep, yep. It absolutely does. So I mean, an awning, if you don't have one already, or if you're gonna be replacing the fabric on yours, Lippert has you covered. It's definitely something you want to add. I mean, to hang outside is part of camping, but when you're being cooked in the sun or a light drizzle, whatever, it takes away that fun. The awning allows you to do that. Yep, it absolutely does.

dIDN'T LIKE THE FACT THE INSTRUCTIONS WERE VAGUE ON INSTALLATION. ALMOST BENT AND BROKE THE AWING BECAUSE I HAD INSTALLED IT BELOW THE TOP OF THE TRIM ON THE SLIDE. THE SCREWS THAT CAME WITH THE UNIT WOULDN'T WORK WHEN I INSTALLED THE SLIDE UP 3 INCHES. I HAD TO GET 10-24X1 AND 1O-24 X 3/4. I STILL HAD TO GRIND OFF THE TOP OF THE SCREWS SO THE TO PIECE WOULD SLIDE EASY ONTO THE MOUNT BRAKET.

Awning was delivered with No shipping damage, looks to be in great shape and all parts are accounted for, will install after I remove 5th wheel out of storage

by:

Slide topper, rail, and hardware arrived with no damage. LCI installation instructions were somewhat vague. installation videos help. I would suggest the instructions add directions to pre-drill all holes in the unit. and display which way the rail should be installed, and whether you line the rail up on top or bottom of the 3" mark. First time I installed slide topper it took 2.5hrs with another persons help sliding in place. All in all installation went fairly smooth.

After a year the product I purchased and installed has been wonderful. As you can see from the picture(s) it is still in great shape and protects our camper slide.
Topper was easy to install for a DYI and the assistance of video on installation prep and advice from etrailer was the ticket to successfully completing the job with no trouble.
Topper material is quality material and hardware was very good. Love the results and no issues with anything falling on the top of my slide increasing the risk of damage to slide and or seals.

I sent them back wrong size .You charged me for the free shipping .I will never buy another thing from you again . I have ordered alot from you in the passed.

Thanks Jacob got this slide out topper in good shape both ends were out of tube but all parts still in

by:

Item arrived well packaged. Installation was much easier than I expected. Thanks to etrailer agent helping me with sizing the whole experience was great. Would highly recommended them!!

Just finding three different Solera toppers is challenging, but etrailer had them available, and very promptly, in my hands.
I've always recieved great service from etrailer.

After searching the internet and checking reviews I chose etrailer for my slide out awning. I have shopped at Camping World who had the same awning but a lower price. After contacting etrailer with their price match I got the awning plus a few dollars less shipped to my door! Communications were excellent!
The installation was straight forward with ample instructions. The mounting brackets for the slide out has two positions, an upper and lower to provide clearance between the roll and top of the slide out. I used the upper. Hardware was great quality. There is ample adjustments in the brackets side to side if needed. My trailer a 2020 Aspen Trail 2750BH has the “C” rail as part of the gutter so I didn’t need to install the one provided with the awning! My wife and I installed the awning with two ladders and did not have any problems. Make sure and use the silicone spray as it really makes the awning easy to slide thru the C channel. We are happy with our purchase and will definitely use etrailer for our needs! Thank you for a quality product!

A friend and I installed this topper today on a Winnebago 2101DS travel trailer. It took a little over one hour and we didn't run into any real problems. One thing the instructions said to do was to mount the hex aluminum bar in the end bracket using a self tapping 1/4-20 screw. Seemed almost impossible to do so I used a 1/4-20 tap. Worked fine.
Once the slide topper is squared away and goes in and out properly the paper instructions want you to install a black self tapping screw in the fabric slot within 1" of the end of the fabric. I didn't like the idea of running the screw through the fabric. I had some black tubing from another project which I used for the block to keep the slide fabric from moving.
The topper seems to be high quality and certainly will provide additional protection from the elements. This is definitely a two man job and my friend was great help. When we were sliding the fabric into the slide topper rail we found the best way was for me to be on the roof supporting the topper while my friend guided the fabric into the rail slot.

Great product and super easy to install especially since my trailer already had the rail and brackets already installed. Only problem was that the package was damaged. Thankfully the product was not damaged though.

by:

Another great product from etrailer fast shipping and arrived with no damage. Tracking wasn’t any help but I guess that’s on the carrier always said tracking number not found.

While we love the slide out on our travel trailer, that is nothing but a potential problem. Leaves and debris lay on top and eventually prevent a good seal when closed, water pooling and potential leaking...and the list goes on.

We made the decision to buy and self install the Solera Slide Topper. The topper arrived in a large, well packed cardboard tube. All parts were present. It took my wife and I about 1:45 minutes to complete the installation. We are super pleased with how it turned out and have no complaints at all. Once again...eTrailer to the rescue!

I will note a couple of things that buyers/installers need to be aware of. While none of these are a deal breaker...knowledge is power. Some of the hardware (screws) are not painted black. After installation, I took a can of black spray paint and sprayed a little in a paper cup and used a Q-tip to apply the paint to the unpainted heads. The other thing is the tension. Wow...that is one strong spring! I found that the tension was so tight that it actually prevented the top of the slide out from fully extending. I knew this because before installing it I actually felt how tight the inside seal was against the interior wall when the slide was out. After the install I could easily slip my fingers between the inside trailer wall and the slideout seal. I ended up unwinding the spring by two full turns. After that, the slideout seal was firm against the interior wall! Yea! The awning itself was still very taunt and without sag.

A word of caution about removing the spring keeper pin or unwinding the arm. Make sure you FULLY understand what you are doing. That is NOT something you want to mess up on. While we had no problems in doing this...I am familiar with spring loaded rotational forces and understand the instant damage they can do!

Very pleased...and would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for an inexpensive way to cover and protect your slide out!

I appreciate William B's help choosing this awning along with his knowledge of the installation process

by:

Fairly simple to install if you have a decent amount of handyman skills. Instructions could be better. Love how they turned out. Little insurance for my slide outs. Hope they last.

by:

The Slide topper was easy to install and looks and works great. After one year it still is the same as when installed.

by:

This order has not been delivered. The first one you tried. To deliver was too damaged to use. Now the replacement you sent and claim was delivered never arrived.

by:

The awning design is poor and does not work as indicated. The fabric is weak and Water builds up in a pool causing unnecessary weight on the slide out. Would definitely would not buy again!

by:

Worst customer service ever. It took 6 different people to correct etrailer’s mistake even having to explain over and over their own part numbers they managed to get it wrong, they shipped me multiple different parts that were incorrect parts over and over. I finally order the proper parts from a different vendor who got it right the very first time. You will later be inundated with dozens of requests to “tell us how we did” well, etrailer did a crap job and are over priced too. They never stop harassing you to do reviews either

by:

Delivery went well, slight damage to tube, contents were fine. Install was pretty simple, following video from etrailer. Very pleased with quality of topper n look of it on our Camper which is a 2021 Keystone Passport. I've ordered a few things from etrailer n haven't ever had an issue.

by:

Purchased this for our new 2025 Winnebego 2108DB trailer as a self install. Installation was very easy, easy enough I could install it almost completely without help. I did need a helper when fitting the roller into the brackets. Included instructions were clear and easy to follow. Since this is a new install, I can't comment on the durability of this accessory, but time will tell, it looks like it's of good quality.

by:

The solera slide toppers are the best! Mounting is very easy, just make sure to have two people with you. I did a 67" myself, but it was difficult feeding it into the track.

by:

I received the 121" awning a few months in delay, but this was not etrailer's fault. They kept in constant contact with me and I appreciate that. The awning came on an 18 wheeler and the extruded channel had been bent slightly, but easily fixable. The hardware pack was good and wrapped up nicely. Overall, a great purchase and easy to install like 2 hours with a friend. Watch the video for the installation tips it's very helpful. Definitely worth it!

by:

The slide-out awnings were easy to install. One issue I encountered was with one of the set screws. There was excess paint in the threaded hole. I cleaned the threads with a tap and it worked fine.
