Highlights

  • Close Gaps Between Adjacent Tires: Inflatable wedges fill open spaces in the wheel area to extend your skirting barrier.
  • Cover Tire Gaps Top and Bottom: Use wedges above and below adjacent tires; enclosed wheel wells may only need the lower wedge.
  • Fits Many RV Tire Setups: 17" size works with many RVs; larger tires may require the 22" wedge (sold separately).
  • Measure Before You Order: Measure the space between adjacent tires to choose the correct wedge size.
  • Plan for Your Axle Setup: Dual-axle RVs may need up to 4 wedges, while triple-axle RVs may need up to 8.

Close the Gaps Between Your Tires: Measure First for the Right Wedge Size

Adjacent tires can leave openings above and below the point where they come closest together, giving cold air another path through the wheel area. Place an inflatable wedge in each open space to continue the skirting barrier between the tires. This 17" size works with many RV tire setups, but larger tires or wider gaps may require the 22" wedge , so measure the space between the bases of adjacent tires before ordering. On RVs with enclosed wheel wells, the wheel well may already block the upper opening, so only a lower wedge may be needed. Dual-axle RVs may require up to 4 wedges, while triple-axle RVs may require up to 8. Wheel chocks must be placed outside the tires, and these wedges cannot be used with X-style wheel stabilizers.

Video Transcript for Review of Airskirts RV Skirting - Insulation Tire Wedges - AS49VR

Hi everyone, Steve here with etrailer. Today we're looking at the AirSkirts RV insulation tire wedges. So folks, if you're already using an AirSkirt system around your camper or RV, your tires can leave openings in that barrier where cold air could still potentially pass through. So these inflatable wedges are designed specifically to fill those openings between adjacent tires and then continue to kind of complete and close off that whole AirSkirt barrier in the wheel area. Now you're gonna get quantity two. I just aired one up today.

So you're gonna see the shape, what they look like, the size of them compared to me. And you're gonna have them shipped in a box. Obviously they're gonna be this flat when you get them. So space-wise, they don't take too much space. Now, another thing to mention is if you have enclosed wheel wells, you may already have the top part blocking any kind of air getting through.

So you may just need one set. What I mean by that is if you look at this image on the screen, that's a tandem trailer. And obviously it took two of these to fill the air gap. So per the manufacturer, you may need a couple sets depending on your particular needs. So this is sold quantity two, just like you see here.

You may need two sets of two to fill in all those gaps. If you have a triple axle, quadruple axle, those kinds of things, you may need up to eight just to fill all those gaps. So make sure you're counting and figuring out exactly what you need before you order it so you can just order one time and get what you need. Now, a couple of things to mention, your wheel chocks do need to be positioned outside of your tires. So maybe in front or behind the tire versus in between.

And these cannot be used if you're using the X style wheel stabilizers, obviously because this is gonna go in that area. Now, these are very flexible, yet very durable. Material is puncture resistant. That being said, obviously if you get something sharp enough, obviously you're gonna be able to puncture these, don't get me wrong. But they can take a lot of abuse. They are designed to kind of go in between and then inflate so they actually kind of fill up around the two tires, you know what I mean So that's what they're designed to do. So make sure you're checking the instructions before you use them, those kind of things. As always, if you have any questions about anything, you can always reach out to us here at etrailer. We're more than happy to assist you. Now, finishing up here, this set is made for about a 17 inch combination. So what you wanna do is measure the space between the base of those two tires and determine if this will fill in that gap. So again, 17 inches max. We do sell a larger 22 inch max version separately. You can check that out here at etrailer as well. I'm gonna wrap up for the day, folks. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.

  • How to Choose the Right AirSkirts Tire Wedge Size
Great question, Tom! The best way to figure out which AirSkirts tire wedges you need is to measure the space between the bases of your adjacent tires before ordering. These wedges help fill the open spaces above or below where the tires come closest together, keeping cold air from slipping through the wheel area and beneath your RV. The 22 inch wedges part # AS69VR are designed for wider gaps, but many RVs only need the smaller 17 inch wedges, part # AS49VR. If your RV has enclosed wheel...
