RV Odyssey Interior Light, Recess Mount

Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here @etrailer.com today. We're taking a look at the RV Odyssey interior light. Now this has a recessed Mount design, and basically it's just a little click on an off light. It can swivel around to adjust to where you need that light to shine. We'll have three wires that we can hook up.

The white wire will be our ground connection. And then these two wires will be your power. Now you can kind of wire this in a couple different ways. So if we wire both of our black wires together, we're going to get a constant signal. So if you wanted to wire this to a separate switch, that'd probably be the best way to go, because then you would only be able to turn it off by using that switch.

So I'm going to hook these up and show you what I mean, you got my power going to the black wires and then my ground going to the white turn on my power source.And you can see my light comes on. Even if I click it, it still comes back on. So again, this would be good if you wanted to have this running to a switch on your wall. So if you're using this in an enclosed trailer or an RV or something like that, you would flip on that switch and then the lights going to come on, no matter what even if you do happen to click it. Now, if you want to be able to use that click function, you would just need to hook up one of those black wires.

So right now my power is connected to one of those wires, click it, it comes on glute, again, goes off. It's going to be the same thing for that other wire.It just kind of flips the circuit. So now it's on click it off. It's just one or the other. It doesn't really matter which one is which it doesn't click in or out.

So it's not one or the other is better. It's just, you only want to hook up one of those black wires to get that click fund function. So hopefully that makes sense. But basically that's just all it's doing. The other wires are all connected here with the little screw or that's the word I'm looking for So pretty easy to use little light. I'm going to turn the lights off in the studio so you can see how bright this light is.And so it's not terribly bright, but enough that you can read a map or maybe see where you're going in your enclosed trailer before you get other lights turned on and it does have that adjustable function. So we can switch that from one side to the other. So it makes a handy reading light if you're kind of close to it, or if you just want a more subtle light in your vehicle, turn the lights back on. I'm going to turn off my power and disconnect my wires, and then we'll go over some measurements. So the widest part of our light is about five inches long going from outside edge to outside edge from top to bottom, it's about three and a quarter inches tall. And then front to back, it's about two and an eighth inch, maybe two and a quarter inch deep going from the very front face to the back.As far as what would actually be sticking out from your mounting place. It's about an inch deep. Again, we do have our three wires we'll have about five inches of wire to work with coming off of there. It does work with 12 volt power. It has a draw of 0.94 amps at 12.8 volts. This is a incandescent bulb and should be a pretty easy to use, easy to install, little light. It does not come with any hardware to get this attached to you will to provide that on your own. It does have these kinds of counter sunk holes. So if you wanted to use some flat screws to make that install complete, you will have to pick this up on your own. It looks the diameter of those screw holes is about an eighth of an inch. So anything that's an eighth inch in diameter should work out just fine for you and other items that you can pick up to go with.This would be a snap ring to cover those mounting holes. That's going to be sold separately. It's RV L 060102. You can find that [email protected] basically just put it over, snap it into place. And now that kind of finishes up the look of our light. So we're not seeing those little mounting holes still be able to turn it just the same, click it on and off everything as normal. But again, that is sold separately.
