    Hi Elliott; the Valterra RV Water Tank # R8048 has three 3/8" threaded fittings on each end of the tank. You can see them in the attached picture, one has a red plug. The tank is only designed to be gravity fed or used with a hand pump, not an electric water pump. What are you using the water tank for?

    Hi Jared! The 24 gallon 48" x 8" x 16" Valterra RV Water Tank # R8048 weighs just under 16 pounds (15.8 pounds, to be exact). If you were also wondering how much this would weigh with 24 gallons of water in it (I was), that would be 215 pounds (a gallon of water weighs 8.3 pounds and 24 gallons therein weighs 199.2 pounds). This is fairly relevant as that is a good amount of weight. Where are you planning to install this?

  • Why Cant The Valterra R8048 Be Used With An Electric Water Pump
    Because the Valterra RV Water Tank # R8048 is a lightweight tank that is baffled for surge control, it is not designed for use with electric water pumps. It would void the warranty if used this way and is why they specifically note on their site: "Not for use with electric pumps, low pressure applications only" Included is our review video for additional informaiton on this product.

    The Valterra RV Water Tank # R8048 can be installed standing up for laying down as is demonstrated in the 2 attached photos. If you have it oriented so that it sits taller the drain plug will already be in a position to drain properly. Should you choose to mount it so that it has a lower profile you will simply need to use one of the pre-drilled holes as a drain. If you finish drilling them through to the tank you will be able to use them as a drain as you can see in the attached picture...

  • Can Valterra RV Water Tank # R8048 Be used Laying Flat
    The Valterra RV Water Tank # R8048 could be used on it's side in the orientation that would put it at being 8 inches tall. I pointed out two of the fittings that can be used when laying down in this orientation. You'd just need to punch out the cover for the fitting and you'd see the 3/8 inch fitting there.     I don't see any reason why you can't add a sight glass to the 24-gallon Valterra RV Water Tank # R8048. These aren't something we offer or have experience with in regards to installation, so you may need to find a way to fabricate or otherwise install one but you can do so if you like. We do not recommend putting a larger fill port in the RV Water Tank # R8048 but you can add a fill kit to make it easier with the Valterra ABS Tank Fill Kit with Threaded Cap # RK909 or Valterra ABS Tank...

    The only reason mounting the Valterra RV Water Tank # R8048 would be challenging would be the drain hole location. If you could come up with a way for it to be accessed on the bottom of it when vertical this would work just fine. Maybe have a hole cut in the floor so that the line ran to it would go through the floor.
