Location of Fill Ports on Valterra RV Water Tank

Updated 07/27/2025 | Published 07/20/2025

Question:

How can you fill this? I don’t see a fill port. Or does it require a pressurized water supply?

Hi Elliott; the Valterra RV Water Tank # R8048 has three 3/8" threaded fittings on each end of the tank. You can see them in the attached picture, one has a red plug. The tank is only designed to be gravity fed or used with a hand pump, not an electric water pump.

What are you using the water tank for?

I want to put it in the back of my truck bed to use for camp cooking and showers. I was hoping it would have a large fill cap on top so I can fill it with a garden hose. Sounds like this is not a good fit. I guess you’d have to connect a fill hose and plumb it to a fill hole somewhere else, like in an RV.

@ElliottC ah yeah, this is definitely designed for RV use. Something like the # FR52DJ would work and has a large fill port on top with a 1/2" barb fitting for a hose on the bottom. However, it has a smaller capacity at 17.7 gallons.
