Hi everyone, I'm Evangeline here at etrailer. Today we are taking a look at the mosquito net attachment for your Front Runner awnings, and this is gonna secure to your awning by the poles pretty quickly, pretty easily, one of the several different types of attachments to really build out your whole system. Now, we're gonna take a look at how it attaches in some of its features and what you might consider if you wanna get this or maybe something else for your awning. But before we continue, first, make sure you get the correct mosquito net size for the correct awning because they all match. Today we are taking a look at the 2M awning with its matching mosquito net walls. Compared to fully enclosed rooms, this is gonna be a bit more ideal for situations like soccer games where you're still gonna wanna watch what's going on, but from the safety of inside a mosquito net enclosure.
If you're in areas where there's, like, a lot of bugs around, lots of things flying through, you want the wind, you want the air, but you don't want the critters, that's where this comes in handy. Now, you get 1, 2, 3, 4 doors, so every wall is also a door, a way to get in or out of the enclosure. The material the mesh is made out of is more similar to a plastic mesh than it is to the softer cloth mesh that you'll usually see on tents. What that means is this is gonna be a lot more durable and a lot less scratch resistant. So compared to mesh net, where they just develop holes and rip so quickly, this one I feel a lot more confident with.
Front Runner just has really good quality of construction all around with pretty much every one of their products. I always just enjoy looking at the seams. I like to sew, so the stitching here is very nicely done and not coming apart anytime soon. There's a lot of, like, structural support to the mosquito enclosure too. Like, if this was a windy day, not only would the wind just go through the netting, kind of dissipating that force, but also with how much it's secured to the awning bars, I'm not worried about this collapsing or tearing anytime soon.
Now I do say that as I am shooting this video inside a studio without much wind around me, but I have gone camping a fair amount where suddenly these really strong gusts of wind come by and they've have me a little concerned. So for that, you have some extra spots to stake down your mosquito enclosure. So this is in addition to the two stake spots for your awning. You can support that support with these really strong straps. You get four metal stakes and that will secure your corners for extra peace of mind.
As for the space and experience inside the mosquito net enclosure, well that's dependent upon where you have your awning set, especially height wise. Again, this will match your awning's dimensions, so everything will just adjust accordingly. For pretty much any awning enclosure, no matter what brand, there is one thing they tend to do that I've not been the biggest fan of, and that's going to be the zippers or the walls that go up against the vehicle. I would prefer there not to be any metal or any zipper whatsoever against that paint, especially if a windy day kicks up and then there's a little bit of scuffing and scratching there. Now, this can be remedied by just installing the awning a little bit further out past the side of the vehicle. But another thing you can do is, since this opening is there so that you can get access into your vehicle door, I sometimes just (door thudding) keep the door over the awning just like that, or the fabric just like that. So you still have that access, but also not as much as making contact. As for the experience inside the enclosure, if you're worried about height and clearance, things like that, remember that this enclosure does match to the dimensions of your awnings. So if you need more headroom, well, you adjust the awning up and everything else will follow. Now, when it comes to enclosures, no matter what brand the enclosure goes with, I've noticed that they all seem to do the same thing, which is they have a door or a zipper or some kind of handling over by the vehicle to get access. That's great for access. The one downside is going to be that they tend to have contact with the vehicle finish. So especially on windy days where a lot of things are moving and sliding around, you do wanna be mindful of this. Make sure your zipper is in the upright position when possible, and that way less is making contact with your vehicle. But these doors do open along the bottom panel to give you access into your vehicle, whether it's the back door (door thudding) or the front door, whichever makes more sense, or whichever you need access to the most. Or you can always just zip this all down and keep everything bug-free. To get this enclosure set up, there are tracks along the front and the back of the awning that everything slides into, and there's also hooks where it hooks into the poles. I always recommend doing the track part at the same time just because it's a little tricky to slide it all separately. And with that, when you don't have it set up, you do have a carrying bag. And what a lot of people don't think about is, while the awning itself rolls up really nice and sleek up against your roof rack, the attachments take up a good amount of cargo space. So this is gonna be the awning room attachment, and here's the bag for our mosquito net wall attachment, which is only slightly smaller. So if you have a vehicle with limited cargo space, or if you're carrying a lot of gear for your adventure, just remember you do need to make space for those attachments too. Now, I actually grew up in a tropical climate where mosquitoes we inchesre part of my life. I'd still do a bunch of outdoor adventures, but I'd always have to think about how I was going to sleep, how I was going to camp, making sure I always had a mosquito net around me. So something like this I would've really appreciated as a child when the mosquitoes seemed like they we inchesre big enough where they could carry me off and away. So there's just something to having this large space where you can just enjoy the air, enjoy the breeze, but not have to worry about any critters or small bugs coming in. So with that in mind, if you are looking for just a good all-around easy-to-set-up base camp, it is worth looking into the Front Runner awning, especially with these add-on mosquito walls. But remember, this is not the only add-on available for your awning. You can also just upgrade all the way and get the full screen room, which has the ceiling, has the floor, has the walls, but has windows and doors and things like that. But there's something too to just the simplicity of a mosquito net or a mosquito net enclosure where it's lightweight, easier to set up, but also so practical. So hopefully this video just showed you a glimpse of how it would look, how you might use it, and help you decide if it is the right fit for you and your adventures. And if you're curious about this or any of the other awnings, attachments, add-ons, things for your adventure, well, give us a call here at etrailer and we'll help you get started to find those best fits.
