Video Transcript for Review of Weigh Safe Trailer Hitch Ball Mount - Fixed Ball Mount with Tongue Weight Scale - WSFH2-2

Michael: Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a quick look at the Weigh Safe Fixed Height Ball Mount with built-in scale. This is going to slide into your 2" X 2" receiver tube opening, and it is going to provide you with the ball mount. This is a one inch opening here so it's going to accept most of your standard ball fixtures so that whether you have a two inch ball or 2-5/16 inch ball, whatever the case may be, it's going to give you that spot for that. But then really the main feature here is that it has the built in scale here to measure your tongue weight so that you can make sure that you are towing safely, whether you need to adjust the positioning of your load on your trailer, that sort of thing, it is going to measure that tongue weight every time you get hooked up. As you can see if this does not come with the ball, you will be able to provide your own depending on the size that you need. This is capable of a gross trailer weight of 10,000 pounds and a maximum tongue weight of 1,500 pounds.

As I said, it will work with your 2"x 2" receiver tube openings on your hitch. This is constructed of an aircraft grade aluminum so it is pretty lightweight and yet very sturdy. It's got a solid construction to it so it's a little bit more sturdy than some of your more hollow options out there, but because it is aluminum, it is going to be very corrosion and rust resistant so it should hold out for a nice long time, give you a lot of use out of this to make sure that your trailer tongue weight is correct. This does meet the SAE J684 certifications as well as the VESC regulations. It is V-5 compliant so it is going to be a great option for you. Basically when you slide this into your hitch receiver tube, we've got our standard 5/8 inch pin hole here so we just put our pin and clip through, and then when we put the pressure on our ball, it's going to push up on this little dome here, and that's where it's going to measure that amount of weight.I probably won't even be able to simulate that needle moving, but it is going to give you an accurate reading to make sure that your trailer is leveled right and that everything is where it needs to be.

This is made here in the USA so you can trust that it is made to the high quality standards that we've come to know and trust for products that are made here in the US and with the aluminum material and I think this is going to be a great option for you. Let's go and complete our look for today, again I'm Michael with etrailer.com, thanks for watching.

  • How to Determine the Correct Trailer Ball Mount and Measuring For Rise and/or Drop
Most light duty trailers have a 17 inch coupler height, give or take an inch. Using the ballmount help page you were looking at, measure your hitch height on your truck and select a ball mount with the proper rise or drop to get you to 17 inches. The hitch on my Escape is 19 inches from the ground to the inside top edge of the hitch. So to get to 17 inches I would use a 2 inch drop ball mount like part # C45010 or part # C74WR or even the # WSFH2-2 with a built-in scale. I have included...

  • What Parts Do I Need To Install A Curt Trailer Hitch and Wiring On My 2011 Ford Flex?
All the parts you need to install the hitch is included with the Curt Hitch receiver # 13551. This hitch receiver is for a Ford Flex with dual exhaust. You will need the Curt T-Connector Wiring Harness to allow you to hook up to your camper. The wiring that I recommend for your 2011 Ford Flex is # C55774. This gives you the option of using either a 4-pole connector or a 7-Pole connector. You also need a ball mount like # C74WR for an 8000-lb capacity or the # WSFH2-2 for a 10,000-lb capacity...
