Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a quick look at this Pace Edwards Replacement Reel Spring. Now, right off the bat, I wanna pop on your screen all of the items that this reel spring is going to fit. So as you can see there, this is going to fit the SwitchBlade tonneau cover, the UltraGroove tonneau cover, the UltraGroove metal tonneau cover, and then the JackRabbit tonneau cover, and then the JackRabbit full metal tonneau cover. And then what I've tried to do there for you is list all of the model numbers that this reel spring is going to work with. If you need to refer back to this information, or maybe it's too small for you to read on your screen, you can find that exact information on this product page.
Now I do want to give you a closeup of the ends here, so let me go ahead and see if I can do that there for you. So there's the one end, and then let me swing this around to the other end here. And so this is the direct replacement from Pace Edwards. So what that means for you is you can trust that this is going to work right in place of that original one. You're not gonna have to worry about compatibility issues, fitment issues or anything like that since this is directly from the manufacturer.
Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our real quick look today. I do hope that our brief time together was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
Overall a good replacement. The replacement tube was shorter than my original so I had to remove the spring assembly from the new tube and install it in my original tube. But in the end it worked out just fine.
The tube was one foot too long for my ‘04 model pace Edwards jack rabbit. I cut a foot off the non spring side and attached mount from old return spring and drilled holes to fasten cover. Works good
The assembly was 1 inch short, I took the spring end out of new one and installed it in the old assembly, works fine. Ladies at etrailer were very helpful when UPS lost my package.
I would have given it a 5 star but the tube I received wasn't the correct length. It was too short. I had to remove the spring assembly from the new tube and install it on my old one. The good thing was that my old tube was fine except for the spring assembly. Thus the 4 star rating.
I received the reel/spring and the quality was really nice. I have the pace jack rabbit and I believe it is an older model. The new spring was about 1/2” to 3/4” shorter than my original. So if I had to guess, the company shortened the spring on a new version but still using same name. I ended up taking one of the plastic squares that hold the spring in place and cutting to use as a spacer. I punched out the threaded inserts and bought longer stainless steel screws. Everything worked great but I should’ve bought those plastic ends that secure the spring I should’ve bought one to have and maybe a screw kit for it if they offered it. If not the threads are a 1/4 x 20 bolt and a 10x24 bolt.

Thanks for all that info, Kerry! Sorry to hear it wasn't a perfect fit though. I have heard a couple people say this was shorter than the original one, so I think you are correct in that you may have an older one, but that's a guess. What happened to the original spring?
