Today we're going to be taking a look at a Curt Pintle Hook Mounting Plate for 2 1/2 inch hitches. This hitch mounted adapter plate provides a mounting point for a pintle hook. Pintle hooks are sold separately. If you're interested or in need, you can find some here at etrailer.com. The shank portion slides into the receiver tube of your hitch, and then you need to secure it using a hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock. Those items are sold separately.
The pin holes on this unit will accept a standard 5/8 diameter pin. The unit is constructed of a sturdy steel construction. It's going to feature a durable carbide black powder coated finish to resist rust and corrosion. Product's made in the USA. Really nice durable design. Again, it is designed to fit into a 2 1/2 inch by 2 1/2 inch trailer hitch receiver, and then you got the nice mounting plate right here that provides the mounting point for your pintle hook.
Now, this features a gross trailer weight capacity of up to 20,000 pounds. We're going to take some measurements. Starting with the mounting plate, so if we go edge to edge this direction this is going to give us a measurement of around 5 inches wide. Overall height, so from bottom to top of that mounting plate, it measures about 3 11/16 of an inch to 3 3/4 of an inch tall. Then the thickness of that plate front to back, that's a 1/2 inch thick steel plate. Now the overall length, I took a measurement from the very front of the unit to the very back and got a measurement right around 12 inches, maybe 12 1/8 of an inch, right in that area. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the front of the mounting plate, that gives a measurement of about 8 1/4 inches.
Then from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the shank it's going to measure pretty close to 4 inches. The mount holes here at the mounting plate, center on center side to side, they're separated by about 3 1/2 inches. Center on center up and down they're separated by about 1 3/4 inches. Then those mount holes have a diameter of 9/16 of an inch. Mounting hardware to get a pintle hook attached to the mounting plate, that's not included. If it doesn't come with a pintle hook then you will need to provide your own mounting hardware.
That's going to do it for today's look at the Curt Pintle Hook Mounting Plate for 2 1/2 inch hitches.
