Hello neighbor, this is Curt with etrailer, and today, we're gonna take a look at the crossbar kit for your Yakima Sky Peak HD Rooftop Tent. Now, any kind of rooftop tent, especially a hard shell one like this, is generally gonna take up all of your crossbar space that is existing, whether it be on your rooftop, ladder rack, camper shell, or a sports and rec trailer like we have right here. There's really no more room on here to put additional accessories. So to be able to get a crossbar kit that will mount on top of your Sky Peak HD Rooftop Tent, can be huge, especially for those longer trips and adventures that you have planned. You might have a few larger accessories you want to take with you, whether it be a bike, whether it be your snowboard carrier, whether you want to carry a kayak up here, or maybe a rooftop box to hold any of your kayak accessories, like your paddles, life vests, and helmets. All of these are things that we're gonna be able to mount up on top of our Sky Peak tent.

These crossbars are gonna give us a 165-pound weight capacity, which is pretty typical of what you find on most rooftop crossbars. These are gonna have the ability to have 165 pounds while the tent is closed, but it's also gonna give us a 75-pound capacity when the tent is open. So just bear that weight limit in mind when the tent is open, that it's only 75 pounds, so you may have to remove, you know, a heavier kayak, or if you have a cargo box with a lot of heavier things in it, you may have to unload that a little bit before you end up opening your tent. So we do want to make sure you keep everything safe, of course, and in a lot of instances, this tent is gonna be six, seven feet up off of the ground, on some kind of a ladder rack or camper shell. But overall, these are gonna give you an excellent option.

Each end of the bar is gonna have a tie-down point to it as well, just to help keep your loads a little bit extra secure. And clamp-mounted accessories aren't the only thing you can use on it. This weather stripping up at the top here can be peeled back, and you can mount T-slot accessories right through here. And this is replaceable, of course, whenever it's not in use. Installation and adjustment of the bars is very, very easy as well.

So your crossbar spread, meaning how far apart the crossbars are, can be a little bit dependent on what accessory you're putting up here. Get 'em in a good spread to where, you know, whatever accessories you have are gonna work on it, is a good place to kind of hold it and lock it down, but that can vary depending on what you're putting up here. So these do install through the T-slot that's located up here on the lid. The T-slot opening is right back here, so you would just slide it forward, and you can loosen and tighten it using the security tool that's included, and you can adjust how far and how close you want that spread to be. The only thing that you need to be conscious of, are the pistons between the bottom and the top of your tent.

These don't move however, so as long as you stay clear, you should be okay with whatever mounting position you want to use. So overall, these crossbars are gonna make an excellent addition to your Sky Peak tent, especially when you have some of those larger items to take with you on an extended trip.
