Video Transcript for DeeZee NXc Running Boards Installation - 2022 Dodge Durango

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2022 Dodge Durango, we're gonna be showing you how to install the Dee Zee NXc running boards. But before you get into that why don't we just take a minute, check these out and make sure they're gonna work for you. Right off the bat it seems like a lot of people wonder, you know, are these gonna work with, you know, my particular Durango And from my understanding these are gonna fit all the different sub models it'll fit the GT like we have here today the RT and everything in between. Really I can only find one exception and that is the SRT models. And even then, it sounds like some of 'em still work.

Really the only thing to look out for from what I can gather is if your Durango has the extra ground effects down here an extra plastic molding, you might run into some issues there with these working. So just kind of a heads up. But aside from, you know, aside from that special circumstance you'll be able to kind of bolt these up and be good to go. With that said, you know, in terms of the aesthetics, I'm usually not super crazy about putting running boards on SUVs but these really don't look too bad. You know, they don't look out of place at least in my opinion or anything like that.

And you have a few different varieties to choose from as well. So right here we have the all matte black ones which is what I like. I think they look a little more modern and up to date, that's just my opinion. But then there's also some that you know, have chrome trim on 'em and others that are have some stainless trim with black mixed into it. So whatever your style that you think will go up or match your Durango the best, you know, you can go with those.

Aside from the aesthetics, you know, functionality is gonna be definitely a priority and these are gonna, you know, do a couple of different things, make it easier to get in and out. You have a five inch, the steps five inches wide so it gives you a little extra platform to make it a little bit easier to hop in and out. And what a lot of people don't think about is these help tremendously with wear and tear on your seat 'cause you know, it's just kind of natural when you go to get out to sling your legs over kind of spin on the seat and and climb down. Over time you know, that just destroys your seat corners and really starts to chew 'em up especially with a lot of leather seats. So if you make it a habit it kind of deliberately put your foot on the platform first you can get up and you're not gonna chew your seat up nearly as much as you would otherwise.

Something else I can see these, you know, really helping out with is roof mounted accessories which I mean they're getting more and more popular on all different types of vehicles nowadays. You know, you're seeing a lot of people use those. Well on an SUV or bigger vehicles are kind of a pain to have to deal with. So if that's your case having a running board down here is gonna make that a little bit easier. You know, it gives you a step to kinda work off of and be able to get things on top of your roof or go to take 'em down even. Compared to some of the other running boards available they're all pretty similar. I think I would favor these essentially just due to aesthetics. I think they look the best since they kind of sweep in. You know, some of the other ones are just kind of a little more blocky. That's just my personal taste. These are gonna be made from aluminum as well, so you're not gonna have to worry about, you know, 'em rotting out or rusting out over time, anything like that. And these little pads here, they are raised up so help you out with traction and they're almost like a rubber material I guess you could say a hard rubber so shouldn't get too slick or anything like that. And make it a little bit safer getting in and out of the vehicle. The kit is gonna come with custom fit brackets that way you know it'll bolt up to your Durango and you won't run into any issues there which makes installation fairly straightforward, you know, not really a whole lot to it once you kind of figure out what bracket goes where and everything else. So hopefully we can kind of speed the process up for you a little bit and guide you along as we get 'em installed ourselves. So why don't we go ahead and and get started on 'em now. To begin our installation we're gonna be here on the side of our vehicle and we're gonna start with the driver's side. First thing we need to do is mount up our brackets. And so we're gonna have a bracket here in the front right here in this area and then one a little bit closer to the back. So let's go ahead, take a look underneath here in the front. Underneath if you look at our pinch weld there's gonna be an area that has two holes already in it. That's what we're gonna be using. So you can take this piece of metal that they gave you it has two studs pressed into it that's gonna go through there and you'll have this support bracket. The holes in it are gonna line up with the holes in our bracket. And then on the end of the stud you're gonna take one of these flange nuts and get these started hand tight. Here's how the bracket is gonna look once you have it loosely bolted on. We can grab our left front bracket. These are all gonna be a little bit different each position. So check your instructions, the diagram, to make sure you got the right one. You're gonna take a big bolt, put it through that. And then there's this piece. And what I'm gonna do is just get a few threads started on it like that. And if you look right here in our frame there's gonna be a hole drilled there right from the factory. And so this is gonna kind of slide up in there like that. All right. And then by keeping some downward pressure on this you're able to get this to kind of tighten up almost all the way I guess you could say pull all the slack out of it and then right here in our bracket, that hole, we want that to line up with the hole and our support bracket. And you want that to do to go with the bottom hole. So that one there. So if I get this in position, take a bolt, push it through and take a flange nut on the other side and get it started. Moving on to the back attachment point it's gonna be right here in this area. It's essentially about, I'd say maybe 18 inches or two foot towards the front from the beginning of our rear wheel well. What you're gonna do is essentially the same exact thing that we did on the front. Put this piece in there, support bracket and loosely secure it. And then if you look at the bottom of the frame here we're gonna have a hole there. You can take this nut plate, it's a little bit larger, and just very carefully can I get that going there like that. And we need to take our bracket using this hole carefully get this lined up and get it started hand tight. To get this started. So with this bracket in place I realized that this one was just flipped wrong. 'Cause at first I had this side of it facing the back. So not a big deal, just took it off, flipped it around and now the hole in this bracket we're gonna line it up with the hole on our support bracket. But this time we're gonna use the top one. We'll take our bolt, push it through and just a flange nut on the other side. At this point we can grab our running board and we're gonna take these carriage bolts that they give you. So it'll be a total of 4, 2 per end. And these are just gonna slide, into those openings there. So I got two on that side, two on this side and we'll just kinda roughly get 'em lined up here. Pretty straightforward. We'll go ahead and just set our running board onto the brackets until our bolts pass through. When they come through, you're then gonna take a flange nut and get a nut started on all four of the bolts. Just hand tight for now. Once you have that running board set up there you can position it how you want 'cause you can slide it back and forth. I've done that and usually what I do is just, you know, have it dead center. So I just split the difference on each side and make sure this measurement's the same but you know, you can always get it how you want it. And then I like to pull it out as far to me as possible too 'cause it can slide, you know, in and out this way. I usually just pull it all the way out. That way I know it's the same. So once you have it in position, come back to the half inch socket and we're just gonna snug down the bolts that are actually holding the running board on. (drill grinding) With the running board set, we can slide up all of our brackets. What I like to do is tighten down the nuts first up here with a 10 millimeter and then I'll come back and hit these with a half inch and then these ones here. So I feel like it kind of just draws everything together a little bit better doing it that way. So that's what we'll do. Once you have the hardware tightened down, you know, check make sure the running board didn't shift on you or you're happy with where it's at. If you need to make adjustments you know, you can loosen it up and do that. But we're good with that side and once you have that side done you can simply repeat that same process over here to get this one installed. And that'll finish up our look at and our installation of the Dee Zee NXc running boards on our 2022 Dodge Durango.

I like the kit very much. Installation was easy straight forward.

After looking over all running boards for a 2020 Dodge Durango GT, many stated that they fit all Durango's but not the GT. Asked the question of which would be recommended and this is what I ordered. Very high quality and fit perfect. Install was easy and took about a hour. Looks fantastic and are very sturdy. Highly recommend these to anyone.

Running boards seem to be excellent material. Easy to put on. Mounting hardware is a bit tricky and pictures on instruction are almost not viewable. The wing bolts would be easier to tighten if a little longer. Took about 1.5 hours for install

by:

Installed on my 2021 Durango R/T. Fitment was perfect with a small adjustment to the installation instructions. The L brackets need to be installed on opposite side of frame lip to allow them to clear the spoiler. Only other concern is the threaded plates to hold the larger brackets. They don't look like they will hold properly over time so I'm looking for better bolts. Otherwise, they look great. Only took about an hour to install.

Looks great on my Explorer, no problems with the installation done by myself without using a lift or jacks. I would buy these again

by:

It took me 45 minutes to install Them. I was very easy. They look great on my chevy Traverse. I am very please with your service and the product. Thanks. Here is a picture of the final instalation.

These boards worked! The stainless on top probably looks best on the Lincoln because that lower composite moulding is more grey, than black. (And really, once the board was held up to the car, the stainless kind of just disappeared.) Not to mention hard to keep clean. I think on the black car, the boards I ordered look the best. If I had a color like green, blue, white, etc...the solid black would look best. Mud flaps along with the boards would have been just too much. If it were a 1/2 ton pickup, would be great, but not for a crossover. That's just my opinion though! Wanted to share pictures, while not the greatest, in case anyone else struggled with what would look best & what to buy. Nice to have a variety of pictures & impossible for you to put every combo on every vehicle!

by:

Installation was fairly easy. A couple holes on my truck were difficult to hook into. There's no torque specs for the bracket bolts so I may have tightened too much because the front side broke free of the bolt heads on one end. After moving the rail over I re-tightened and haven't had any problems since. Looks good, easy to clean. Would recommend.

These are great running boards for my 2017 Nissan Pathfinder. I really like how they stay kinda hidden until you open the door. Installation was very simple thanks to the etrailer.com instruction video. The paper instructions are worthless. They’ve been copied so many times that they are unreadable. Watch the video a couple of times and the install will make sense. One of the boards arrived with a couple of scratches to the powdercoat, but I was able to cover them up with a paint touch up pen. QC should’ve been a bit better from Dee Zee. Still, I feel these running boards are the best out there for my Pathfinder. They are strong and look great. I highly recommend these running boards.

by:

Delivery was very fast. Instructions were pictures, with no text, so watching the video on etrailer is a big help. My vehicle is the "Overland" model, with the Trail rated package, which means it has "Skid Plates" underneath. In order to install these, I had to remove two Skid Plates, which anyone can do, but they are heavy. I had to use a Dremel Tool, to cut a notch in each plate so that I could install the Bracket. Spray Painted the plates, where they were cut. Where I had to cut the Skid Plate did not hurt their integrity at all. Then re-install the Skid Plates, and install the brackets. If you don't have skid plates, this is an easy install.

Looking for foot rails for my wife 2018 Nissan Murano, Platinum. I had them installed by a local shop. I was nervous about ordering them because the car has molded mud flaps, but I was sent a pic of a car just like my wife with mud flaps and felt more comfortable ordering them.

by:

Product was exactly as described. Note - this fits the 2017 Durango GT perfectly!!!
Easy to install. Directions were hard to read, had to get print out from Dee Zee website. Parts bag opened in the box, but no parts were lost!

Easy install and look great!

by:

Thanks

by:

Very nice product all around. Easy install. They’ve Held up great for the first year and from what I can tell many more to come. They still look like the first day I put them on.

by:

Good quality running boards. I used the video that is on Etrailer.com web site to see how they are installed. Since I own a Equinox it was a no brainer. They look great and are super strong. Only time will tell on how long they stay looking like new. :)

My wife was having a hard time getting into our Honda CRV on the passenger side so I decided to order running boards. I found some online from a different company that said that they would fit my vehicle but when they arrived they did not. I contacted the company and they said that they would send instructions so I could modify my vehicle to allow they to fit. I packed them up and sent them back!! Then I saw your video online and went to the website to check them out. I ordered them and as you can see from the picture they look great on our CRV! My wife loves using them to get into the vehicle now!!!

by:

Overall product seems good and has worked well after a few days. Installation instructions were difficult to read as they were actual black & white photographs which had been photocopied multiple times. Drawings like most other assembly instructions include would have been much better. On-line instructions are easier to see. Nutsert set tool is a piece of junk. No idea why an allen socket was used for the head instead of a hex head. Trying to compress the nutsert I stripped the tool. Dee Zee did send another tool, but that one stripped as well. Went to home improvement store and got proper bolt with hex head to finish installation. Be prepared to spend some time under your vehicle compressing the nutsert. Once you get those four in place the rest is typical installation and product works well. I recommend DeeZee provide better installation pictures and improve the nutsert tool. Guess I'm lucky I didn't have to drill anything?

by:

Awesome product. The pictures in directions were grainy and hard to decipher but once we figured it out it was pretty simple install.

by:

Running boards make jeep look great plus protect the door from little cars that park to close and try to give you door dings.
etrailer always great and fast service Thanks.

by:

The nerf bars have been on one year and still look great. There is no rust or pitting on them. I am pleased with the quality of bars and pleased with etrailer! Thank you!

by:

It has been exactly a year since I bought and installed this on my 2017 Nissan Pathfinder. The running board is well made and solid. The chrome trim matches perfectly with the vehicle body side chrome moldings. No issue so far.

by:

These Running boards are worth the money; they are heavy duty and easy to install. I put then on my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. Awesome product!!

by:

Excellent product and easy installation. Very happy!

by:

Sturdy, well made and attractive on the car. The installation instructions are extremely helpful especially with photos. It took 2 people about 1 hour to do both sides. It's my wife's car and she loves them. TPA

by:

nice product , good quality, brackets very beefy and thick gauge. Instructions are very difficult to follow. pictures are poor quality. brackets could be marked r,l,rear, front, but I will figure it out.
