Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this four foot long SmartPlug marine power cord. Has a 50 amp female SmartPlug on this end and a 50 amp male twist lock connector on the other end. Now, this cord will let you connect your boat to shore power using the SmartPlug multi-point, locking system connector. Has a 50 amp male twist lock connector on this end that'll plug into your 50 amp female twist type inlet at the dockside receptacle.
And on this side will be the 50 amp, female SmartPlug connector that'll plug into a 50 amp male SmartPlug inlet on your boat. Want to zoom in to show you the connectors a little better. You can see this SmartPlug multi-plug locking system. Ensures a nice, solid connection. You can see on the side of the tabs there's side locking levers that allow to lock into the SmartPlug connector.
It is a nice sleeve design, so it keeps the weight and the tension off of your electrical pins. So, the body of the plug itself bears the weight to keep the points of electrical contact secure. And as you can see, it as a straight-in connection of the SmartPlug male end, makes plugging in very easy even when it's dark out. They do use the nice triple weatherproof seals to prevent water corrosion and overheating. And also, a nice feature on this SmartPlug, if you look at the very top right there, that's actually an LED reversed polarity indicator light and that'll confirm correct connection.
So, when you do plug this into your SmartPlug connector, if there's no light showing, that means there's no power. If you plug this in and there's a blue light, then that's normal power. You're ready to go. If you plug it in, if there's a blue light and a red light showing, that means it's reversed polarity, so you need to change it around. And then if you plug this in and it's just red only, that means it's dangerous reversed polarity.
If you notice, they come with this nice snap-on clear cap and that'll just push right on just like that. That protects the terminals when it's not plugged in. Keeps it weather from getting to them. And what's nice also, being a clear cap, you can see through it and you easily see the type of plug-in that it is. It's marked on the front right here. And then to release it, just push in on the side levers and you pull the cap right off. Now, the construction on this, all the external metals on this plug are a marine-grade 316 stainless steel, the electrical pins are nickel-plated brass, and all the plastics used are RV and heat resistant. On the other end, that's just your standard male twist lock connector that'll give you a secure twist lock connection. The cord itself, you can see is a nice bright orange color for high visibility. And it is made in the USA. Few specs on this, again, the total length is four feet. The amperage, 50 amps. Voltage, 125 and 250 volts. Again, just put your cap back on. But that should do it for the review on the four foot long SmartPlug marine power cord. 50 amp female SmartPlug to the 50 amp male twist lock connector..
Came quickly and is good quality.
Excellent, fast service, complete with detailed package tracking. I will definitely shop there again.
It arrived in great shape. This will allow me to travel with a lighter weight 30 Amp line for my 50 Amp Airstream when I have no need to run both A/C units. For a 4ft cord, the price was disappointing, hence only 4 stars, but it was what I needed, and I am happy it was available from eTrailer. The 50 Amp cords are like carrying a python.
Worked as described.
Exactly what I needed to be able to use my old 30 amp twist lock cables with the new rv
The SmartPlug is a great innovation, far better and more secure than the old style, twist connectors, and safer for your RV or boat. This new pigtail makes it even easier to switch to the SmartPlug since now there is no need to cut the end of a perfectly good shore power cord in order to adapt to this superior system. Plus you add 4 feet to the length of your cord. This is the second boat I have converted to the SmartPlug system.
Outstanding customer service!
