Hi, everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. And today, we're gonna be taking a look at Romik's ROB Hitch Step. This is gonna be one of their many styles of hitch step, and it's designed to match their ROB series running boards. But if you like the style, it's gonna work just fine as a normal hitch step on its own too. It's gonna give you a really wide footprint and a pretty solid construction. Let's check it out.
So this model from Romik is gonna be really boxy and squared off on the edges. So depending on your vehicle, like our 4Runner today, it might match the aesthetic really well. And up top, you're gonna have grip tape that pretty much goes end to end, front to back. That's gonna give you a lot of grip over this surface and keep you from slipping around, as well as having a nice tread at the end lip right here. Overall construction's gonna be a black anodized aluminum, which keeps things rust resistant, but still gives it a good weight capacity at 500 pounds.
Coming in at three feet wide and six inches deep, it's gonna be a pretty big step. So if you've got bigger shoes or you just want a more comfortable surface to stand on when you're loading something tall in your vehicle like a roof platform here where you just need easier access up into your truck bed, this is gonna do that. Not to mention, it does come with an anti-rattle bolt that's gonna keep things nice and solid on the hitch. So when you are stepping up here, it keeps you feeling secure. Now, on our 4Runner today, I do have a little bit of wobble here.
That's just because Toyota's factory hitch has a bit of some weird tolerance with the anti-rattle bolt being hard to reach with a socket. But on any normal truck, Jeep, Bronco, things like that, you're gonna be just fine. Where you place this in your hitch can be customized a little bit. Romik gave you three hitch pinhole to choose from that will vary how deep this sits. And that's just gonna really depend on your vehicle.
On the 4Runner, our factory hitch sits out from the bumper a little bit, so I put it in as far as it would go. But for a truck or maybe even a Jeep that has a spare tire, you probably want it to come out a little bit more, just so it's easier to reach with your foot when you're stepping up here. You get that choice here, and it can be adjusted to fit your vehicle. The one thing I'll say though is that no matter where you have it set, depending on if your vehicle has backup sensors or where they're placed, you might find that this is gonna interfere with them, because it can sit pretty close and it is gonna be pretty wide. But if you've got the matching running boards from Romik, I think this step makes a ton of sense. But even if you don't and you just like the aesthetic, it matches your vehicle or some other accessories you have, that's cool too. I will say, if you don't love the style as much and you don't have those matching running boards, there's plenty of other options to choose from, both from Romik and other brands on our site.
