Video Transcript for TruXedo Elevate Truck Bed Rack System Review

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Elevate Rack System. So my favorite thing about this rack system and what really sets it apart is that you're going to be able to use it in conjunction with your tonneau cover, and it's gonna work with most popular tonneau covers that are available today. And that's a really good thing because not only are you going to be able to use your rack system, but you're gonna be able to keep any items inside of your bed dry and secure, as opposed to many of the other types where you kind of have to choose one or the other. It's either you want your tonneau cover or your rack. This one gives you the opportunity to use both at the same time.

And that's really gonna come in handy in many different scenarios. And a perfect example of that is at the job site. When you get there, you're still gonna be able to have all of your ladders and other equipment up top, but since your tonneau cover is still down, all your tools inside of the bed or other sensitive materials can remain dry and secure. And for whatever reason, if you do need to have full bed access, you're still able to do that even with everything in place here. So today we have a folding type cover, which are a little bit more cumbersome, but you're still able to completely fold it up, that said, even with the straps on.

Now, depending on how you have stuff strapped, you may have to pull 'em out of the way a little bit but that's really not the end of the world. And since we can have our full bed access, it does make it really convenient, especially when we're going to put stuff up on our rack or take it off. We're able to fold that cover out of the way, hop up in the bed of the truck and have a little bit more manageable area to work whenever we're securing all of our cargo up here. It's also gonna give us four anchor points. That way we can have a real easy spot to hook up our straps and secure any cargo up top.

But something else that I kind of thought of, and without these you really won't have the opportunity to do this, but sometimes these hard style tonneau covers actually have a weight carrying capacity. So with that being said, without these anchor points, you probably wouldn't ever use it 'cause you'd have a hard time finding a spot to tie your cargo down on top of your tonneau cover. With the anchors here, you're able to carry your stuff on your tonneau cover if it's rated for it and have a real quick and easy spot to get it secured. And what makes this set up even more versatile is the fact that it's all adjustable. So what I mean is our anchors, if you loosen up the nuts on each side, you're able to slide them anywhere you want to accommodate your load.

And even the racks themselves, they work the same way. Nut on each side, if you loosen 'em up, you're able to slide 'em further apart or closer together. That way it can accommodate anything you might be carrying or any accessory that you'd like to use. So the rack is actually made from aluminum. That means it's gonna be lightweight and easy to handle and that really can come in handy, especially if you do need to remove it every now and again. If you need to remove it, it's not a huge deal. You'll just take off the two nuts on each side and this just pulls right off. So you could just do it by yourself, pull it off, set it to the side. That way, if you ever do need to carry anything tall, maybe a refrigerator, something like that, you're able to quickly and easily get these out of the way till put your load in the bed of your truck. So to give us even more versatility, these are also adjustable. So what I mean by that is the top here, you can have it up in the highest position, which is right here at 28 inches, but you can also lower it. So what you do is take out this bolt and it lowers all the way down here and that'll set the crossbars at about 18 inches. So you would do that for a couple of different reasons. Really, what I can think of, it would work great for other accessories. So if we lowered it into the lowest position it'd make a little bit more manageable to get to from the ground and what you could do is carry some bike racks, that way you could get your bike off and on really easy, or maybe even a cargo basket. Whenever you use that cargo basket, it would almost double your bed storage capacity and you won't to be way up high trying to put stuff in or take it out. So I went ahead and lowered our front rack and left the back one here in the highest position. And this just kind of gives you an idea on the difference between the two adjustments. So this is what it looks like once both of our racks are in that completely lowered position. Just a little bit more manageable to get anything on or off, like our accessories, if that's what you end up using it for. And just kinda out of curiosity, I was wondering if our tonneau cover could actually still be folded upward. Now each tonneau cover's gonna be a little bit different but just to give you an idea, you have the folding one, and believe it or not, this actually does pass through this back rack. We can keep moving forward. And this is as far as it'll go. If you try to keep folding it, it will hit our front rack. But even with these in the lowered position, we're still gonna have, I would say at least half of our bed to access in its entirety. And you know, in this position, more than likely, you're going to use a bike rack, something like that. And with us still being able to fold our cover halfway up, it does make it a little easier to hop up in the bed and secure anything or fix it how you need to up here as opposed from on the ground, even though you can do it on the ground. That said, it does make it a little easier when you have a height advantage and you're able able just to hop up in the bed. And if you already have an accessory or need to pick one out and kind of wonder if it'll work with this, chances are more than likely it will. And that's because of its design, the shape of it. Most clamp-on styles are gonna have no problem connecting to it. And on the top, if we peel back this rubber strip, we're actually going to have T-track. And so that's real common in most accessories so you should be able to find one that works great for you. So overall, in my opinion, this rack really checks all the marks. You're gonna be able to use it with your tonneau cover, have that adjustability, bunch of good tie down points for your cargo, gonna be able to use your roof rack accessories, or accessories that you wanna carry on here. And it's gonna look pretty good too..

Ordered back in early December, and got a call from etrailer of additional delays. Appreciate the transparency and extra effort to notify me! Added star for that alone

Items randomly got received a couple days ago, with one vertical telescopic leg came slightly damaged as the box was shredded and taped up with packing tape (I don’t imagine adjusting very often but would like to document the shipping condition here as I didn’t take photos in the box). The bend was very slight and only hinders the telescoping capability, but the mid height option works with the bakflip g2 on my 2013 tundra making sure to place the racks in certain places on the track where the folding action of the cover wasn’t at its peak height. The hex bolt and nuts to adjust height mean I won’t be adjusting height unless the job forces me to do so

Product was as described. The rail system sits a little high on the bed but as the padding softens I assume it will become a little more form-fitting in time/under tension. The etrailer videos matched parts and install took nearly 2 hours playing with the different heights and placement of the rack itself. The product claims are accurate if paired with researching your own personal build

Got these for my '22 Ford Maverick. Good and sturdy. I've carried up to 10 pieces of sheet rock , cedar siding, rebar. Beside the black coating coming off I have zero complaints.

I struggled to find a ladder rack that worked with my UnderCover Armor Flex Tonneau Cover and honestly I was skeptical on how well the two would work together. Upon opening the boxes, I immediately noticed how well made and sturdy all the parts were.
The instructions were fairly easy to follow allowing for a relatively straight forward installation.
This ladder rack was just the answer to my problem; a ladder rack that worked seamlessly with my tonneau cover allowing full use of my bed cover while securing my ladders.
An awesome benefit is with just a 1/2” socket or wrench, I can rather quickly slide, lower, or remove this rack system.
Time will tell on how durable it is but at this point I would definitely recommend this product.

E-trailer has been fantastic to work with on this purchase. The 3rd party vendor took an extremely long time to fill the order. However, the staff at E-trailer was always able to answer my questions and work with me every step of the way. Surprisingly enough (actually, not really), they provided much better customer support then the vendor of the product I was buying. They will always be my first choice when purchasing products for my truck.

This rack system is not adjustable from 18”-28” as the listing implies. Rather, you can set the crossbar height at EITHER 18” or 28”. That’s important if you want to get additional crossbars for the cab to support lumber or ladders. On my truck, I don’t think I’ll be able to find crossbars that can match the height of the rack.

The top crossbar has a t-slot across the top but the manufacturer doesn’t appear to make any accessories for it. Weather stripping for that t-slot is included in the box - good for wind noise - but nothing that helps secure your load, like load stops.

Tie offs on the uprights themselves would have been appreciated.

Don’t think I would purchase this particular rack again.

Works as expected. Do not drag things on top the paint peels from the aluminum.

by:

Nice rack, a little difficult to assemble with bed cover. It took me about three attempts to get everything located correctly.
