How to Use the Chair Buddy System

MORryde's Chair Buddy system is a great way to ensure that your chairs won't slide around while on the road, without the need for tie-downs. To make sure the chair buddy will work for you, there are a couple things to consider before installing it.

First, if you have a sliding dinette table, you will need at least 19-1/2" from the floor to the bottom of the mounting plate of the Chair Buddy. This allows the table to move without interference from the Chair Buddy when in it is in the upright (or stored) position. Also, the table post must have a flat surface that is 3" wide x 4" tall that faces the chairs to install the mounting plate.

Second, if your table has an apron (where the edge of the table hangs down beyond the underside of the table), you will need at least 8-5/8" between the center post of the table and the interior face of the apron. This is to ensure that the Chair Buddy t-shaped arm can fold up and down without hitting the table's edge.

In addition, while many camper tables have a center post to anchor them to the floor, there are some that have two legs on either side of the table or that attach to the wall instead. Since these don't have a post to attach the chair buddy to, MORryde offers an adapter plate (MR27RR - sold separately) that installs on the underside of the table, allowing the Chair Buddy to effectively function in the same capacity as if there were a center post.

Video Transcript for Checking Out the MORryde Chair Buddy Dining Chair Holder for RVs

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a quick look at our nifty little device for you RV owners. This is a Chair Buddy. It's going to help keep your dining room chairs from rattling and potentially tipping over as you're traveling. That will obviously help reduce the damage to the chairs themselves, but also any potential damage to other items that you may have in that same area. So the way this works, it's very simple, it is going to mount to the center post on your table.

Salesperson You can see it does have this arm that kind of has a T shape to it, and then we also have a gas strut over here. So as we have this mounted, right now it's in the up position so it will be stored up and out of the way, but then when we're ready to travel we'll just put our chairs in place. And then we can bend that arm down and that gas strut is going to apply quite a bit of pressure to those chairs to prevent them from wobbling and falling over. Then, when you're ready, you can simply push it back up into the disengage position. Which will be much easier for you than it is for me once you have this mounted in place.

And then it's going to be up and out of the way again so you're not going to have to worry about hitting your knees on it while you're at your table enjoying dinner, or anything like that. So this mounting bracket here is right about two and an eighth of an inch wide and three and three quarters of an inch tall. So you are going to need table posts that's at least three inches wide and a flat surface area of about four inches tall for this to mount to. If you don't have something like that on your table, they do make this bracket that will allow you to mount up onto the table and then mount your Chair Buddy there. So that you have that vertical surface.

So you can find that here, at etrailer, using the part number that you see on the screen. But if you do have an upright center post that will face your chairs, then you won't need that. You'll just be able to install this with the included hardware. They do give you a very detailed instructions with pictures on how to get it installed so that all your chairs will be nice and stable as you're going down the road. Even if you hit a big pot hole or something they'll stay in place and you won't have to worry about them falling over.

Now there are some specifications as to dimensions to make sure that it's going to fit your table and that sort of thing. I would encourage you to come to our website. Check that out. But this is going to be a really nice option, I think, for most tables, to make sure that your chairs stay in place. It does have this hard plastic sleeve on each side to help protect the material on your chairs. So you're not going to have to worry about snags or damage to your chairs or anything like that. So I think this would be a very nice option to make sure that those chairs stay in place as you're going down the road. That's going to complete our work for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thank for watching..

We had the "Chair buddy" on our prior 5th wheel, and it works great to hold the dining chairs in place—and it's much easier to work with than the factory tie-downs, which I've removed. Highly recommend for simplifying keeping the chairs in place at a dining table when traveling down the road.

These chair hold-downs continue to work well, after a year of steady use. We continue to recommend them.

Works as advertised, came quick easy to install

by:

Great idea

by:

This should work well at keeping the chairs tied down. One problem. It is shipped in the Hold down position. The instructions don't mention the need to move it to the up-and-stored position before beginning installation.

by:

This is so much easier than getting down on the floor of the RV to connect the straps for holding the chairs in place when we travel.
