This king pin lock has a disc tumbler locking mechanism. Unlike locks that use vulnerable spring-loaded pins, this ultra-secure lock is bump-proof. The cylinder has a series of rotating discs that can be correctly lined up only when you turn the corresponding key. Two identical notched keys are included to operate the lock. Because these keys feature 1 of nearly a million possible key codes, it's extremely unlikely that another individual will have a key that can open this lock.

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at this Amplock King Pin Lock. This is a nice heavy duty cast iron lock, that's going to help prevent your trailer from being stolen, by preventing any would-be thief from hooking up to your king pin. So this is going to surround your commercial fifth-wheel trailer's kingpin, so that it won't fit into any thieves hitch. The conical design here is going to also hinder thieves from using chains, because in theory, the chains will just slip right down, so they won't be able to use those. This is going to have an inner width of 2 7/8 inch, just shy of three inches, and then in our height or depth, there of about 3 1/4 inch.
So it will work for that commercial fifth-wheel trailer's kingpin. This does have a nice cover here, that's going to slide open to reveal our lock core. And this is a rotating disc tumbler lock, that's going to provide maximum security for us. So the two included keys will work with that lock once we get it aligned properly, and it's got those cylinders in there, that allow this to be a lot more secure than your spring loaded locks. So this is going to resist picking and drilling.
You can push the cylinder in, without the keys. That's going to lock it in place, and then to open it up, you just have to stick one of those two keys in there, give it a twist and then pull it out. And now the lock core is going to have a nice secure combination, there's nearly a million different possible key codes for this lock core. So it's extremely unlikely that anyone else, even if they have the same brand and model, it's very unlikely that they'll have a matching key to be able to unlock your lock, so it is going to be very secure for you. This does have a nice heavy duty ductile cast iron construction, so it's going to absorb shock to prevent breaking.
It's also going to resist any kind of cutting, including cutting with a torch or liquid nitrogen. And it does have this Ecoat finish , that's going to resist corrosion, so it will hold up really well for you. You can see we do have those three small holes on the bottom, they're to help drain any moisture that is getting in there, to make sure that it's not going to corrode your kingpin or cause any damage. And then we can just very easily close that little tab there to protect our lock core from any corrosion or anything there as well. So, really nice king pin lock here if you are wanting a little bit more security for your trailer, make sure that no one's able to hook up and take off with it.

Quality, fit, and easy to use. Hopefully one of the best theft deterrents on the market by other reviews. Think the manufacturer should do a video on how difficult it is to defeat this lock it might help to justify the price.

Tried 2 other brands. They wouldn’t fit. Then I realized the catch plate might be the cause. Tried this one and went right on like a glove eTrailer was great on my return on first attempt.
Great lock! Your rv will be safe from thieves with this on your 5th wheel. It is VERY heavy and well made. Sometimes you have to hold your mouth just right when taking on and off,
The king pin lock is very substantial and would be most difficult to remove without a torch. It's also easy to install and remove. Although it is more costly than the others, my peace of mind is worth it.
This lock is very impressive . Easy to use and works as advertised. Also, the service from Etrailer is second to none. I store my fifth wheel and this lock is very heavy duty. Nothing is 100% effective but this lock is very hard to tamper with compared to others.
Fit very well. Just had a little problem with the key # and key code. Doesn't designate which is which. Also, the warranty did not have my product listed on drop down list. But other than warranty registration all is great. Customer service was prompt and attentive.. amp lock received before expected delivery date.
The kingpin lock is doing fine. I don't use my 53ft dry van much now, but I am comfortable knowing that the lock is in place, working, preventing an easily stole trailer. Thanks.
I love this. It is definitely made for the Pullrite and the capture plate. Nice fit and it looks great instead of those gaudy yellow locks. This makes me feel as though my trailer is nice and secure too.
The lock is rock solid. I'm glad I purchased the lock for my 5th wheel RV trailer. Some of the locks out there a cheep. Not this one. You get what you pay for and this one does The job .

Happy with this product! Although a couple week delay from the factory I was kept in the loop via email. This product is solid, clean and heavy duty. Although I know this is only a deterrent, I believe this product is superior than others on the market!

This is my second Amplock and this one is a winner too. There's no way it's coming off without a fight. The lock spins like glass and only way the pin won't come out is if the little weather door gets in the way. You won't have to touch the grease and it isn't showing any rust at all.
So far, it's been great, I've had it for about a year. No attempts of theft. If you use a lube plate, you'll need to remove it to install the lock.
