Hi, I'm Daniel with etrailer, and today we're gonna install a TowSmart hitch on a 2025 Nissan Rogue. This hitch here has a two inch receiver, which will accommodate most things you'll be using it for. So it's very versatile for bike racks, cargo carriers, that kind of thing. This hitch will need a 5/8 pin. If your accessories don't come with one, you can pick one up here at etrailer. We also have locking ones if you are needing some extra security.
This hitch comes with safety loops on each side, which can accommodate an S-hook and a clevis. This hitch has a tongue weight capacity of 525 pounds, which is the max weight that can be down on the hitch this way. This hitch also has a max weight of 3,500 pounds towing, so anything that is on the trailer plus the weight of the trailer itself. But make sure to check the owner's manual for the towing capacity of this vehicle and take the lesser of the two. I'm gonna give you a couple measurements that you may need for some of your accessories here.
So from the center of the hitch pin to the outermost of the bumper here, it's about 8, 8 1/2. So that'll just help you if you have accessories that fold up. You know the clearance it has so it doesn't make contact with your bumper. And next measurement is the ground clearance. So from the ground to the top of the square inlet here is 11 3/4.
That is a little low, so just be aware if you have accessories that need a little more ground clearance. This hitch is very easy to install. It's just four bolts installation. You don't have to cut your bumper or anything like that. But if you're not feeling like you want to install it, then go ahead and look to our dealer locator on our website and we'll find someone who can install it for you.
Well, all that being said, let's go ahead and get into the installation. Alright, first off, we're gonna use this silicone lubricant. We're gonna spray that in the holes we're going to be mounting our hitch on. I'll take this wire brush, give 'em a good cleaning, just so no burrs, get us caught up when we're screwing our bolts on. And then I'll take one of the bolts from the kit and just get it hand-tight in there. Just so I know we're not gonna have any problems when we put the hitch on. Once you cleaned this side and threaded the bolt in, just make sure to do that on the other side. And there's gonna be two push-pin fasteners on the rear fascia here that we are going to remove next. Slide in there, give it a little twist. Might be full of gunk. And then we've got one more here. I'll go ahead and use the screwdriver to get it started. And it's easy to get that forked trim panel tool in there after that and it comes right out. Now we're ready to lift the hitch in place. It's helpful to have a friend to help you get it in there. Yeah, you just wanna line up the holes and just locate that hole, get your bolt started just so you can hold it into place, and then you wanna get all four in. You wanna use a 3/4 inch socket and snug them all up. (tool buzzing) Once you get them all snugged up, you wanna torque them down to the specs in the instructions. (tool creaking) (tool beeping) You're ready to put these push pins back in. And that'll do it for our installation of the TowSmart on the 2025 Nissan Rogue. I'm Daniel with etrailer. Thanks for watching.
