Note: Always replace your struts in pairs, where applicable. Most liftgates have a strut on each side. Failure to replace both struts can result in a warped or damaged hinge.
Gas Strut with Exceptional Stability
Most gas struts consist of a tube filled with pressurized nitrogen gas, a piston, and rod. The Atlas Lift strut, however, has a dynamic damping groove inside the tube that regulates gas movement across the piston. This ensures your liftgate stays open when you want it open and shuts slowly without bouncing or slamming. Lastly, in contrast to struts that only have gas in the chamber, a few drops of oil have been mixed in to help seal the piston and lubricate the rod. This allows your liftgate to move more smoothly as the rod travels in and out of the tube.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today, we're gonna take a brief look at this custom fit tailgate lift support. Now, this replaces one worn or damaged bracket style tailgate gas strut for your vehicle. And as I mentioned, this is a custom fit part. So, this is going to fit the 2001 to 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser.
And to confirm that this is gonna work for your vehicle, take advantage of our vehicle fit guide found on our website and input the year, make and model of your vehicle, and our fit guide will let you know if this will work for you. The dampening technology provides smooth operation that eliminates bouncing or jumping. This is going to ensure frictionless movement in all weather conditions. The arm extends to hold your tailgate open and then gently compresses while closing. And these bracket connectors that we've already been looking at together are going to install directly to your existing original equipment manufacturer fittings.
This nitride-coated steel shaft is corrosion resistant for long-lasting performance. You are going to get one lift support. And I wanna give you the measurement of the extended length here. So, I'm gonna be measuring from center of this end to the center of this end as best as I can here. And so, measuring center to center, we are looking at almost 23 inches.
Looks like right at 22 13/16 inches on that extended length. And the compressed length is gonna be 16 3/8 inches. This does have a limited lifetime warranty. And that's gonna conclude our brief look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you.

Just installed the gas struts in my 1998 4Runner and the tailgate now fully opens and doesn't hit me in the head anymore! The gas struts work great.
Exact same fit as my original DeeZee lift that was discontinued. Fortunately Atlas makes the same item now and is the only best fit to work with my 2011 F350 tailgate.

These are a definite improvement over the sagging liftgate struts they replaced on my 1998 4Runner. Installation was straightforward and the fit is as expected. Shipping was quick!
The gas struts were a perfect fit. And work great. It would be nice if the bolts and clips came with the struts. During removal of old struts, one spring clip broke and two flew off. I spent 3 hours trying to find clips. No clips at auto parts stores or the Toyota dealer. Ended up finding perfect clips at Ace Hardware.
I'm happy with the product, but dealing with the spring clip on one end of the assembly was a pia. So much so that when installing the 2nd one, did it without messing with that spring clip.
