Wiring a Switch to the Dash to Control Power to a Gate on a Dump Trailer
For a switch to supply or remove power going back to the gate you can use a simple on/off switch such as # PK34213. This switch is rated up to 50 amp applications. For a switch that has 3 positions you could use on/off/on switch # PK34218 which is also rated for up to 50 amps. For wire you can use # 10-2-1, which is jacketed 2-wire sold by the foot. Where to Run Ignition Switch Wire from ATV Winch Rocker Switch if Installed on a Trailer
The ignition switch wire on the Superwinch ATV winch # 1120210 requires a 12 volt connection. Basically it is designed to only let power go through the switch when the ignition is powered on. Since you are not using it on an ATV it would have to be connected directly to a constant 12 volt source. There isn't any other way unless you first ran that wire to a different switch, such as # PK34213. When off it would be as if an ATV was off. When on it would be as if the ATV was running.

The threaded part of Pollak Heavy-Duty Toggle Switch - SPST- On-Off - 12 Volt - 50 Amp - 1.5" Handle Item # PK34213 has an outer diameter of 0.43 inches which is slightly less than 7/16. So a 7/16 inch diameter hole would work will since the switch will be held in the hole with the included nut.

Will SPST 50 Amp Pollak Heavy-Duty Toggle Switch Fit 1/2 Inch Plywood
The threaded portion of the Pollak Heavy-Duty Toggle Switch # PK34212 you're looking at is about 1/2" long so in order to install this into a 1/2" of plywood you'll need to round out the plywood some. Aside from this the only other toggle switch that matches what you're looking for is the part # PK34213 but the only difference is that it comes with a 1-1/2" handle instead of a 1" handle.

Switch to Prevent Trailer Battery From Draining Parked Tow Vehicle Battery
I'd just install a switch on the circuit on the trailer side like with # PK34213 so that you can prevent the trailer from drawing from the tow vehicle when parked. Basically it would allow you to open or close the circuit to the vehicle side whenever needed.

The Pollak Heavy-Duty Toggle Switch # PK34213 would work fine in an application with limited water exposure like you mentioned. I wouldn't directly expose it to heavy rain or submerge it though.

Can Trailer Lights be Powered from AC Power on a 6x10 Foot Enclosed Trailer
You would need to install what is called a transfer switch and a fuse panel in the trailer. This is an expensive and major installation. It would be much easier to have the trailer lights also wired to a battery mounted on the trailer so that you can turn them on and off with a switch such as # PK34213. To maintain the battery I recommend using a CTEK charger # CTEK56353. This will not only charge the battery but also recondition it to keep it lasting a long time.
