Installation
This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located inside your rear cargo area, on both the driver's and passenger's sides. You will need to remove the rear threshold and some interior trim to access the harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location in your rear cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a look at the T1 vehicle wiring harness. This is a custom fit for the 2020 through the current Lincoln Aviator. So this is a great way to get the wiring functions from your vehicle, the light functions into your trailer. That's going to be your left turn signal, right turn signal, your running lights and your brake signal. So that's where we get the four pole wiring from. This is going to be that four pole flat connector that goes to your trailer wiring, and then I'll go over everything that comes in the kit and how roughly to get this installed in your Lincoln.
It's a pretty simple process. The nice thing is that we don't have to do any kind of cutting or splicing. It's going to be a plug and play design that uses these two connectors to go behind your tail lights, to get that connection. So this is where it gets the name, the T1 connector. This kind of looks like a T here. So this just goes in line with your vehicle's wiring.
So you plug this in behind your driver's side. That's going to be the yellow and brown wires here. So plug in one side to your actual taillight. The other one goes into the wiring harness. And then the same thing for the other side, the red and green wire is going to go to our passenger side taillight housing.
To get it access to your tail lights, you will need to remove some panels in the back hatch of your Lincoln and pull up the trim panel to get access to that harness. So you might need a couple of tools, including a 10 millimeter socket or wrench and a quarter inch wrench as well.Again, this is going to be our our four pole flat connector here. We'll also have to make a ground connection. It does include a small self-tapping screw in your kit. So you can just use that to get your ground connection, or if you find a factory ground, that's a great option as well.
So you don't have to worry about that factory stud. The kind of brains of the operation here is going to be the connector box. This is probably one of the better brands. I would say, as far as giving you a really reliable wiring system. Part of the reason for that is because they have this potting material in here to protect all the circuits inside this box. So you don't have to worry about any kind of damage from shock or vibration.Anything that's on the road is going to be moving. You're going to hit bumps. Things are going to get knocked around. So by having all that potting material, it keeps those things from getting roughed up, even if this we're to come disconnected from this mounting location. Now to mount it, you can use the zip ties provided or this double-sided foam tape, or a combination of the two. If you do end up finding a factory ground to run that ground wire to you can always utilize that included self-tapping screw to attach to the tab up here at the top. So you have some options as far as how to mount this guy. Typically, that's going to be mounted back here by your taillights. So you just have to find a nice flat surface to mount that to, if you're using that double-sided foam tape, which I would suggest it usually does a pretty good job. You just want to make sure you clean up the surface really well. Now, since you're making all these connections inside the vehicle, most likely your wiring is just going to come out the threshold of your Lincoln Aviator. And you'll just pass that over the weatherstripping. There's no issue with doing that. It works just fine. It doesn't look the best. Some customers also feel a little bit nervous about putting their wiring through the door like that. There's really no issue with functionality. The only thing you want to keep away from is the striker in the center there. That's the only place where you could cause any damage to the wiring. But like I said, it's totally fine to do that. If you want to have a more permanent mount to where that four pole wiring is mounted on the outside of your vehicle at all times, so you don't have to run it out and bring it back in every time you go to use it. You can get a bracket, a four pole bracket, and another bracket to go around your hitch. So it has a nice place to live. You can find those brackets right here at etrailer.com. If you want to pick them up, they are related products on the product page here. It's just kind of an option for you. If you do want to go that route, usually you'll need to find a grommet to pass that wire through so that you can make that connection. If you do find one of those grommets, it's always a great option to do that. You can also use it to run the bulk power wire up to your engine bay. So that makes it a little bit easier to do that, gives you kind of a nice clean ingressives 00:04:30 the vehicle, but then you might want to get some silicone sealant to seal up that hole, if you have to make a cut in that grommet. We also have that here at etrailer.com. So that's another thing to pick up while you're here. If you want to go that route. Also included in our kit, we'll get, like I said, a handful of zip ties, inaudible 00:04:47 the double-sided tape, and we'll also get a fuse holder and an included 15 amp fuse. So this is going to go in between our bulk wire, which comes off from the power wire, from our module box. So the fuse holder is going to go in between the bulk wire and our positive side of the battery. That way we're going to be protected from that, from any shorts or any issues arising from our vehicle. Nothing's going to trip the system or affect our vehicle's wiring, it's going to trip that fuse instead. And also the module box is going to protect our vehicle from any kind of issues that arise from the trailer end. So we're going to be doubly protected there, no issues with any wiring causing any damage to our vehicle. This also doesn't interrupt our vehicle's normal lighting functions. It's still going to work just the same as you're used to. As far as some specs, it has an average rating of five amps per circuit for the stop and turn lights, and then seven point amps, 7.5 amps per circuit for the taillights. It's covered by a one-year limited warranty. And that's really about all there is to it for our look at the T1 vehicle wiring harness for your Lincoln Aviator. I hope this video has been helpful. Again, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.
